Learn Dota 2 - Meteor Hammer on Shadow Demon?

Meteor Hammer on Shadow Demon?

Posted: 18 Feb 2018 12:33 PM PST

Just wondering if this is viable, as his Disruption banish time is the same as the Meteor Hammer channel time.

Would combo with his illusion and other abilities if the stun actually lands.

It doesn't take into account the delay on Meteor Hammer, though.

Thoughts?

MMR Not Only Factor in Medals?

Posted: 18 Feb 2018 03:06 PM PST

I play exclusively solo queue MMR, and I recently hit Archon 0 at 2328 MMR. From every analysis I've read I thought that I would need to hit 2500+ to reach Archon. I even believe that I've risen higher in MMR since the medal system hit.

Now I've picked a very strong support hero for my bracket and have sustained a high win rate over the past week. I also receive a large number of commends (20-35 per 25 games). Are either of these a factor in your medal?

Should i just play late game hypercarries in low mmr

Posted: 18 Feb 2018 06:46 PM PST

In every moba, nobody knows how to end fast at lower brackets. Games tend to go for 45min most of the time. They just play whatever and don't care about what the enemy does. Hypercarries are defined as any carry that needs the game to go late in order to make any meaningful impact and has nothing early. There's a difference between hard carries and hypercarries. Hard carry just means they scale. Juggernaut doesn't have the best scalling for instance but he doesn't scale as well as a sniper since he's a soft carry. Sniper can actually do shit once he has lvl 6 and doesn't need to farm and is relevant all game long. Medusa, Spectre, and am do no thing at all early. They for 39 minutes then drive over everyone. Sure Sven and luna farm their core items but they get them much faster and don't have the same late game as any of these 3. Medusa will kill Luna late if both have full build. Even if Medusa gets hit by the entire ult. Spectre is unkillable at full build am denies the use of spells late because if your ever so slightly low on Mana, it's Mana void time. Try to rupture him as bs, it's linkens orb time if he built aghs because you rupture yourself (at least the first few times). Same for every targeted spell. Medusa can just chase you down and auto attack you to death and you can't fight back without Mana burn. Even then of she has her ult, your dead. Illusions will die. Also if you're an illusion hero that isn't pl, it's aghs snake time. You just can't kill Spectre once she gets heart and butterfly. Also these guys can 1v5 if you can get 80% last hitting but let's be real. I'm not the best at last hitting and my support steals last hits. Like as mid, I get 50 last hits in a good game. Safe lane is worse because supports stay in lane unlike mid 3k+. Reguardles is it a good idea to spam these heroes all the way until I can be considered half decent or do I just fight all game with WK.

Spiritbreaker as a pos 5

Posted: 18 Feb 2018 08:36 AM PST

Lately i have to play as a pos 5 bara a few times since my team somehow forgets to pick a pos 5 for whatever reasons, even if i 1st picked him. In games where my team was stomping, it was okay, but in an even/hard game i find it to be underwhelming.
My pos 5 bara items would be tranquils/treads into urns and later euls for dispel and movement speed. But thats about it and then the game ends. Of course i warded and dewarded and buying cour. But in teamfights its hard to make impacts when ur level 5 and the enemy tinker was level 12. Anyone have a similar experience? Not that i purposely picked him as a pos5 tho. Just SEA things. Haha

How to deal with CK

Posted: 18 Feb 2018 02:07 PM PST

Match ID: 3741367422 The only hero I absolutely cannot deal with is Chaos Knight. Our Medusa and Bounty player were both a bit tilted at the start already. Not enough scouting was done, and Phantasm illusions were not mystic-snaked. But I feel more could have been done against CK in the early game. Is there any hero that can contest a CK lane? What heroes other than Tinker, Medusa and LC beat it in midgame? And what do you do if these heroes are already picked/banned? EDIT: unnecessary words

euls and blink escape?

Posted: 18 Feb 2018 03:33 AM PST

Hello, I could never seem to successfully escape by using euls then blinking out. I've seen shadowfiends do it. For me, I get hit after euls and then it puts blink on cooldown.

Any advice? Something about quick cast. how do I enable that and take advantage ?

When are you supposed to go drums/aquila/dragon lance on carries?

Posted: 18 Feb 2018 05:02 PM PST

I've seen pro players rush aquila, or drums, or both on jugg. Yet other times they just skip all that and go straight bfury. What's the thought process behind early game items such as drums/aquila/dragon lance? In particular on Jugg and TB

Not doing enough damage?

Posted: 18 Feb 2018 04:35 PM PST

When I play cores, I'm frequently not doing enough damage. This happens primarily on Invoker. I know he's a bad hero for beginners but I've logged over 100 hours (maybe even 200, I'm not sure due to idle times) in the game and I have a grasp on the mechanics. I just don't seem to be playing cores right with my damage output. This happens on TA and Ember Spirit as well. For now, I've resigned myself to just play support or simple cores such as Sven/Jugg but I don't want to keep doing this forever. Some games I don't do enough but I know this is because I get killed often with bad positioning, showing myself on the map at bad times, etc. I've got a lot of decision making issues I'm trying to improve on. But, when it comes to damage output, this is a consistent issue for me and I'm not sure what I can do to solve it.
Dotabuff

Does anyone have tips/tricks as to how I can increase my damage output during games? Thanks!

I'm also struggling a bit with improving my support play, especially when I play with friends in higher skill groups. I've been working on vision and itemizing correctly however I have no idea how to incorporate stacking as something I actively do as a habit. The micro is quite big when it comes to dota and I don't quite have it down with supporting. In addition to that, I'm also bad at knowing when to roam and in what situations it's correct to roam as support. If there's any takeaways from that, I would appreciate it!

What heroes are strong laners/early game pushers in the trench?

Posted: 18 Feb 2018 07:48 AM PST

Axe and bristleback usually dominate lanes in the trench due to easy harrass, so I'm wondering what else can dominate a lane, since it seems like winning a lane is the best way to snowball a victory.

Having that in mind, I think having early game pushes is the second most impactful thing(since it doesn't matter if you won a lane on a game that lasts 50+ minutes), so anything that could do both (or a combination of two heroes, so I can pick one if my teammates pick another) would be awesome.

Recent changes to Beastmaster

Posted: 18 Feb 2018 08:16 AM PST

I have never attempted to play this hero and therefore have very little grasp on how his abilities changed recently, for example, axes are getting maxed in some games? Could someone explain beastmaster to me?

Can someone analyze this replay?(Pos 5).

Posted: 18 Feb 2018 10:47 AM PST

Hello guys, I used to play mainly core in 3k mmr.But most of supports dont know what to do to help his carry in that bracket. So i decided to make a new account and play as pos 5. Heres the link for the match.

https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3739854763

So can someone tell me how i did that match? ,what can i do to improve? And how much my mmr could be? Thanks :)

What do I take away from this?

Posted: 18 Feb 2018 06:37 AM PST

https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3740779750

I first picked Lina mid, but then razor sniped my lane and we had no supports (typical 2k sea I guess) so I decided to support. I did that... for like 2 minutes until I realized my cores clearly aren't competent enough to carry the game. The first 4-5 mintues of the game was basically me playing cat-and-mouse with the Axe and Weaver who were constantly cutting the creep wave, but I highly doubt that as a solo support Lina I can do anything to those two. In hindsight, I guess I could have camped SF mid. Would that have been the correct move there?

Regardless, midgame there were a few slivers of hope here and there with them feeding a few pick-offs occassionally and me being able to solo kill their over farmed Jugg at one point and taking out both their safelane towers, but after a point it just felt like fighting into them was impossible and we just got ran over.

Was it our picks that made the game unwinnable? Should I have gone different items? What should be the important thing to learn from this game?

2.5k support playing with 3-4k stack

Posted: 17 Feb 2018 08:25 PM PST

TLDR: What would a 2.6k support have to change or do better to be a good support at 3.5k ish.
https://www.dotabuff.com/players/176895661

So I've been hanging around 2.3-2.6k for about 3 months now, definitely an upward trend but it's slow (60% WR over the last 20 games) I rarely get to play more than 10 games a week so that doesn't really help.
I've got a group of mates on discord that are between 3k&4k MMR they're a super friendly bunch and I really don't want to be pulling them down but they also only have one support player that plays with them and he's good at it but a really bad teacher and often pretty high and the others are very focused on the limited roles they play so I've not succeeded too much in getting advice from them on what I'm missing or doing wrong.
If I'm trying to get aggressive wards down I get caught out often smoke or no smoke but often my calls for rotations, towers, incoming ganks and even rosh seem to work well far more often than not, I'm stacking and performing pull-throughs whenever it's safe to do so and not putting my carry at risk and I'd say my dewarding is successful maybe 60% of the time (definetly still needs work{would appreciate help with}) My question is what will be different between the games, what bad habits will I need to reduce/remove to hope to be successful and how can I identify between slightly risky plays that work out and downright bad plays (Especially hard because sometimes they work)

On a huge losing streak, how do I start winning again?

Posted: 17 Feb 2018 10:23 PM PST

Ever since 1 week ago (I think), I started losing games, which was fine at first, but now, the losses accumulated into a huge loss in MMR (Around 1975 to 1671 at the time of writing). I don't know what I'm doing wrong, or what I could do better (in my recent games, I have absolutely 0 idea why we lost), which is the really infuriating part of all of this. I would like to ask someone to coach me and/or analyze my gameplay, so I could start gaining MMR again. Thanks!
