| Posted: 06 Feb 2018 07:21 AM PST So yeah since there are a lot of toplane posts at the moment I thought I would share this now. Basically I was playing Riven against Heimerdinger, so I figured trying to harass or going for a kill was pointless without jungle interference. Heimer put up his turrets and pushed me under my tower while I tried to CS as well as I could. As I was CSing I was looking to TP to make a play or help my team, but it wasnt needed in any situation and I didnt want to lose EXP/CS/tower, so i just stayed top. While I was busy playing PVE, my jungler did a great job of snowballing our mid and botlane. As the game heavily snowballed into our favor, the enemy midlane ragequit and his team decided to open mid. We pushed and ended in 15 minutes. So yeah, 10 cs/min 0/0/0 and 0 damage dealt to champs Edit: Just a quick comment on toplane overall, how the lane feels for me. Playing against tanks: Without jungle assistance they cannot kill me and I cannot kill them. You can try to generate gold with klepto and farm up and thats about it for the laning phase. Playing against ranged: Feels even worse for me than tank lanes, because what bruisers need to do is find an opening to all in otherwise you get poked out of lane. But with so many defensive options available it seems impossible to do so. Without playing a scaling champion I feel like the other roles take over way too soon after laning phase so it feels like you have no point in the game where picking a bruiser makes sense. There a few exceptions for course, most notably Camille, but she plays poke oriented with w/comet and scales well with true damage and a valuable ultimate. Another edit: I didnt purposely do 0 damage, in fact my team and I only noticed after the game was over and had a good laugh. If you look at my op.gg you an see that im usually doing pretty good. Ahri lost about half of her kit damage I mean she's not worse for it but still. Posted: 06 Feb 2018 02:39 PM PST Yea, I know, a lot of you are going to say this is common sense, but I've been in matches with a lot of players lately who are upset with their ping but are playing on WiFi. I've always wanted to respond to those people more, but it's hard to type a bunch in the middle of a ranked match. WiFi is statistically worse, and the numbers prove it. If your router is far away (and your parents/roommates/pets are cool with it), you can pick up a 100ft cable for $13. Sadly it doesn't matter much if you have 100mb/s internet if your router is competing with a bunch of other wireless networks. And hey, if I can't do anything to help your ping situation, maybe I can make it up to you: AMAA about the data team at Riot! I'm a software engineer on the team and had a few meetings clear off my calendar today, so I've got some time. Update: Forgot to mention, you can use LagReport to see if you're getting a lot of jitter. Jitter is commonly caused by WiFi and should be less over ethernet. | Views on the current Gangplank problematic as someone who has mained him since his rework Posted: 06 Feb 2018 02:19 AM PST For anyone curious, these are my opggs First of, I'll just "confirm" that he's extremely broken right now. I don't disagree with anyone who says that he's cancer to play against. He is, and I wish he wasn't. I've played him since Season 5 and at least from the perspective of playing Gangplank, he feels exactly like back then. Maybe a bit less overall power but the general trend of "I scale and you can't do anything about it" is there. A big part of the problem back then was the meta and how safe his lane was. They made his lane phase a lot more dangerous by nerfing his base stats over the course of Season 6 and 7... only to completely throw it out of the window by giving the combination of Inspiration and Resolve an insane amount of health, utility and free gold. This pretty much reverted a lot of his nerfs, at the cost of denying him any damage runes. Then they nerf pretty much every damage based keystone / rune and you basically have no way to deal with a champion that has 800 Health at level 1 and outscales most match ups by just trading with them and getting the benefits from Kleptomancy while they either can't do anything to him because their damage Keystone is just bad or they can't do anything to him because they're a scaling Champion just like him. He does miss the damage runes and masteries from last season (most notably Lethality Runes hit his damage quite hard) but his kit just holds so well together later on in the game that losing about 200 damage on barrels doesn't even really matter. And that's how he's supposed to be, he is supposed to be a very strong late game champion. And he was fine last season because he didn't have the option to just get 150 Health at the cost of damage (which he doesn't care about early and has enough of later on). This is my view on the topic and I think directly nerfing the Champion is a relatively bad idea. They could revert the Gold generation buff on his Q, increase the Q cooldown early, nerf his W base heal early, etc etc. But I very much think that, while it would fix the problem temporarily, the issues lie much deeper than just the Champion being too strong. Aggression in general is just not rewarded enough, resulting in sandbag lanes and stalemate games because nobody can kill their lane opponent. Ninja Tabi also contribute to this as you essentially can't kill someone who bought them unless they make very severe mistakes. | Sad fact about the new swain skin Posted: 06 Feb 2018 10:08 AM PST Its sad and most likely unfortunate that the real creator of this skin idea, that posted his idea(6-7 years ago) about dragon master swain with a delicate way in lol forum and got over 10000(10K) comments and over 10k upvotes(including rioters like riotblastoise,guinso,udyr etc),has stopped playing league and he will never experience his creation that has come back to life.
