After buying the Mammoth Bundle, I thought I would share my Year of the Mammoth collection stats:

Posted: 12 Feb 2018 09:15 AM PST

My philosophy on packs / cards:

  • Every set needs a minimum of 100 packs.

  • After the first 100 packs, I will continue to open packs until I reach the pity timer. The ideal goal is to open 125-150 for each set.

  • Because they will be in Standard longer, Expansions released in the beginning of the year are more important than those release later.

  • Converely, the last set released in a year does not require as many card packs as the others.

  • All duplicate cards are dusted, all "Extra" golden cards are dusted.

Journey to Un'goro

Being the first release of the Year of the Mammoth, I happily bought the preorder bundle. When combined with the free dust from the Hall of Fame, I started the new year with a dust reserve of 15k+. The combined preorder + gold savings netted me a release day set of 154 packs. I hit the pity timer 3 days later, netting me a total of 7 + 1 golden Legendary cards. However, this was before the "no duplicate legendary cards," so I managed to open 2x Elise and 2xHemet, Jungle Hunters. In early August, when the "no duplicate rule" went into effect, many players noted that older sets were giving Legendary cards in the first 10 packs. I used some of my saved gold to buy 5 packs, which netted me another Legendary.

I should note that this is the one time I've broken my dusting rules: I still have golden Elise even though I opened a non-golden copy... and I have no regrets.

Total Packs Opened: 176 Average Dust Value: 99.18

LEGENDARY STATS: 8 + 1 golden Legendaries from packs, 8 Legendaries from crafting.

EPIC STATS: 34 + 1 golden Epics from packs, currently own 38 (non-golden) epics.

OVERALL COLLECTION: 90.61% complete.

Knights of the Frozen Throne:

My gold savings were good enough that I felt I did not need to buy the preorder. I also had very good pack opening luck: I opened 111 packs on release day and opened 7 Legendary cards. I stopped opening packs on 08/22 as I finally hit the pity timer.

Total Packs Opened: 146 Average Dust Value: 96.51

LEGENDARY STATS: 8 Legendaries from packs, 7 Legendaries from crafting, 1 free Legendary

EPIC STATS: 32 + 3 Golden from packs, currently own 34 (non-golden) Epics.

OVERALL COLLECTION: 88.26% complete.

Kobolds & Catacombs:

Being the final release of the year, I intentionally did not open as many K&C packs. This is the set that will be in standard the least amount of time, so it makes sense to let dust fill in any missing cards.

However, I also had the worst legendary rates of all other sets in the past, only opening 4 in my initial 107 packs. I did get a 5th in the Mammoth Bundle, but I definitely felt the lack a few times in the last few month. On the flip side, my luck with epics was better than average as I opened one Epic every 3.8 packs.

Total Packs Opened: 124 Average Dust Value: 100.69

LEGENDARY STATS: 5 Legendaries from packs, 4 Legendaries from crafting, 1 free Legendary

EPIC STATS: I opened 32+3 golden Epic cards, but after dusting duplicate (and nerfed) cards I currently have 33+1 golden.

OVERALL COLLECTION: 84.21% complete.

TL;DR

Here's my tracking doc. I had to convert this from Excel and none of my macros came across, but at least the data is here for those interested.

I joined a Hearthstone Facebook group and I have to say their content is a step above this subreddit's.

Well Reddit, after a lot of time and schmeckles later I finally did it.....

https://imgur.com/gallery/4q9fD Been playing pretty heavily since I started 3 years ago and after investing a lot of time and cash into this game I finally have a complete collection. Other than my brother I don't know anyone who plays and I feel somewhat accomplished because I rarely see posts concerning complete collections so I wanted to share it with all of my reddit buds. I considered going through my purchase history to figure out exactly how much money I have spent but determined it would take too much time. If enough people are honestly interested in how much it takes to get a full collection I'll take the time to go through how much I spent, what I crafted, and what I dusted/kept.
