First PC game I ever owned. Logged like 1500 hours on Xfire, started my first clan left then joined another clan, learned about mods (Halo:Custom Edition) and is the main reason I got into PC gaming.

Research on Halo 2's deleted final warthog run

Posted: 14 Feb 2018 08:59 AM PST

Hello everyone. Today I would like to share some research I have been doing on a subject which I find very interesting; The warthog run originally to take place at the end of the Halo 2 level "High Charity".

The geometry for the warthog run was complete but Bungie did not have enough time to add any enemies to it, therefore it was cut from the finished game. The geometry for the warthog run was left on the Halo 2 disk and a group of modders actually used it in a mod multplayer map called "Induction". Below are some links to videos of gameplay on Induction:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M54Qej4Wh0w

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mLd7eGe-Dk

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNzgiB1_RW0

Most of the details of this run come from mission designer Tyson Green on this bungie.net post: http://halo.bungie.net/news/content.aspx?cid=25650. and It was also referenced on the Halo 2 developers commentary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBi_xx26ClM at 1:05:51.

Halopedia also has an article about it, but I believe the article is mistaking it for part of a deleted forerunner dreadnought level: https://www.halopedia.org/Forerunnership . forerunnership is actually the working title for High Charity as the map file for High Charity is called 07b_forerunnership.map I presume this confusion arose because the map file for Gravemind is called 07a_highcharity.map.

On the videos of Induction, a large slipspace-looking tunnel can be seen, I presume it is one of the "horizontal grav-lifts that you can drive a warthog through" that Tyson refered to in his post.

I hope you found this interested and I also hope that I made it understandable XD if you have an questions I will be happy to assist you.

Does anyone know what these are? As you can see they only appear in visr mode. ODST is one of my favorite, but I haven’t heard what these are.

What a lucky guy.

ICYMI, both Chief and Halsey perceive the Librarian different physically in Halo 4. John sees an "older" Librarian with noticeable wrinkles and signs of aging whereas Halsey sees a more "youthful" Librarian.

Replayed Halo 3 for the First Time in 10 Years

Posted: 14 Feb 2018 07:24 PM PST

First off, I can't believe it's been 10 years since the last time I played Halo 3. According to my Halo Waypoint profile my first achievement was on October 13, 2007. My buddy and I spent hours playing online together, back when we could do split-screen slayer matches on the same console. I never was very good at it, but I did complete the campaign originally, which is what surprised me the most. My achievements for 'The Key' and 'Return' popped on April 27 2008, so it's nearly been 10 years.

What's very strange to me is how little of the game I actually remember. The first level or two were about it, everything else seemed new to me on this recently play through. It was truly enjoyable through the entire campaign, and reminds me why Halo 3 is considered one of the best games ever released. The story was great (finally playing Halo 2 & CE for the first times recently) so everything made more sense then I remembered it. Some parts were certainly frustrating, but it was still fantastic to be able to go through the game again for what felt like the first time.

I'm starting Halo 4 for the first time, and also working through ODST (although the disc appears to be damaged) and looking forward to see how those stories play out to get to Halo 5. I know most didn't like the campaign for Guardians, but I'm hoping to have an enjoyable experience with it, considering the online has been pretty good over the past month.

I certainly hope we get to see more Halo titles come out, as I think the universe that's been created has so much potential for exploration. Halo 3 definitely rocks, here's hoping a remastered version eventually makes it's way out, those cut scenes were brutal.

Why was duel wielding removed?

Posted: 14 Feb 2018 04:23 PM PST

So I recently played the master chief collection with the only halo games that I played before being reach and 5. And what surprised me the most about the older games (gameplay wise that is) was duel wielding, which I thought was awesome. So I don't understand why it was removed (especially in dlc for a game that featured it).

Why the Chief vs Locke fight is actually awesome

Posted: 14 Feb 2018 11:50 PM PST

The fight was so slow because it's from the perspective of Buck/Tanaka/Vale watching from the sidelines. In spartan-time of course Chief and Locke look like two slow brutes, but a normal human would never be able to comprehend how fast the two were moving. Similar to how you can see Goku fighting in Dragonball Z, but to any regular human he's invisible.

This is just my head canon of course but it makes up for the fights lackluster lore inaccuracies.

Edit: obviously the circumstances surrounding the fight (the story, ad campaign, etc) we're still disappointing but this theory only pertains to the fight itself

Halo 5 | Chaingun & Plasma Cannon Analysis

Hey 343 why can’t I join my buddy WHO’S SITTING RIGHT ACROSS FROM ME for some custom game tomfoolery?

Posted: 14 Feb 2018 02:45 PM PST

My friend & I have been long time Halo buddys and have been playing these games together for as long as I can remember. So if anyone can please help us, we are playing the Master Chief Collection and we're just trying to play together like the good old days. If anyone has a solution to why we can't connect with each other please PM me. I'm sorry for the clickbait title, I'm just a little drunk.

Edit: For those of you down voting me why don't you try to help me find a solution to my whiny ass problems instead of being an unhelpful person?

Serious Question

Posted: 14 Feb 2018 06:20 PM PST

Why does Halo 5 get shit on so much? I just got the limited edition today and I completed the first 2 campaign missions and I'm loving it. Sure, the new mechanics take a little to get used to, but the visuals and gameplay are superb. I haven't delved into multiplayer yet but so far it seems like a pretty solid game.

Halo movie that's been listed on IMDB. Written by Stuart Beattie and Alex Garland (guy behind EX machina).
