Halo Community Update - Feb 15, 2018

The graphical update from Halo CE to Halo CE Anniversary is stunning.

My mouth just dropped at this part in the new Ready Player One trailer

With all the talk about 343's armor design lately, I think we should take the time to acknowledge the one new helmet design that fits the Halo style well

Posted: 15 Feb 2018 12:22 PM PST

If only one helmet introduced in Halo 5 was going to be included in Halo 6, which helmet would you choose

Posted: 15 Feb 2018 02:12 PM PST

I'd say Seeker but only because it's a complete joke to the franchise and I want to continue its stupid legacy.

If I had to choose a helmet based off how cool it looks, I'd say Shinobi or Helioskrill. But I'm going with Seeker because nothing can top this beauty.

Hey 343, please... DON'T touch the Magnum!

Posted: 15 Feb 2018 05:28 PM PST

It's the one precision weapon in the game that was done right and feels good... so instead of saying "well, the Magnum outclasses everything else now," as if it's the Magnum that has a problem, why not consider that 1) the initial weapon tuning update was bad, and 2) it's actually the REST of the sandbox (namely the precision weapon tier) that now has issues?

Let's be honest with ourselves and drop the sense of pride... this whole, "look at us, we're going to change Halo because we can!" mindset. The game was basically, initially built around the Magnum, so let's look at WHY the Magnum still excels, feels great, and why people like it and replicate its mechanical properties. Then just adjust the RoF and RRR and damage output accordingly, per weapon, based on the given intent of each weapon... If the aim-assists needs to get a bump based on the RoF and how it impacts tracking the target for the player, make subtle changes... The point is, none of these precision weapons should feel radically different to each other, outside of their main attributes. Bring the other weapons BACK up-to-par...

The differences between aim-assist and RRR that are currently in the game directly impact player performance (negatively) on a weapon-to-weapon basis, within the precision class. Instead of just creating an even greater stack-up of problems in the sandbox... again, look to the Magnum and why it excels, and let it serve as the benchmark for the competing precision rifles. From a Halo series veteran, don't make one easier (or harder) to use than another... Halo has never been that way, not in the OG games.

There are better, and less counter-intuitive ways, to "reduce redundancies" with the precision rifles... For example, upping damage output on the DMR, bringing it to a 3 or 4SK, slowing the TTK a little, but RoF considerably (nerfing its CQB effectiveness), and remove that ridiculous "gap" in the aim-assist/RRR radius... So, instead of another 5SK, glorified, long-range Magnum... apply the logic that the DMR is a big, beefy, mini-sniper rifle, and beef it up... but do it in a balanced fashion, mechanically speaking... Simple.

Thanks for reading...

Is it true that stats get reset in Halo MCC?

Posted: 15 Feb 2018 05:59 PM PST

I've heard people say that stats get reset in Halo MCC every year? If thats true why the hell do they do that for? Some people work hard to get good k/d and good ranks and they reset them? When is the nest reset then? Sorry if this is a nobo questions because I am worried now lol.

Halo Cannon was ranting on Twitter about awful armor designs, so in math class I made my own up that sorta merged art styles? (Sorry if it’s not proper, I sketched it in a hurry)

Matchmaking skill balancing issue(?)

Posted: 15 Feb 2018 07:50 PM PST

Ive noticed while playing H5 ill be matched with people who are like- leagues above me in skill when i play for enough. I did a little experiment and used my 2nd account, clean stats, it hasnt even touched halo 5 and after a couple rounds i started getting matches that were challenging, but fair. Then only 4 rounds later, i started getting paired with, again, people who would just totally crush me. Im talking i cant get out of spawn crushing me. And this'd happen consistently. tl;dr Ill do like 5 matches and itll get challenging, but fair, like it should be. Then it just pairs me with a whole team of gods on the enemy team no matter what I do.

Does anyone else have this issue? Its frusturating because i love the game but this just turns me away from it.

Quitters are ruining this game -- there needs to be harsher punishments

Posted: 15 Feb 2018 04:00 PM PST

I've been a Halo player since Halo 1. Recently I stopped playing Halo 5 because the state of matchmaking was just so bad -- particularly with quitters and people in private chat in ranked matches.

But I decided today "OK I'm going back to Halo 5. I love Halo too much"

FIRST game of Slayer back we lose a teammate within 2 minutes of the match starting. But we're still within 5 kills on a map that you can win with 3 people. No biggy!

Nope, second person quits too.

We still hang in there, but lose obviously. (And of course my teammate that stuck around was in a private chat alone.)

This is not a fun gaming experience. There needs to be harsher punishment for quitting a ranked match.

I think Spielberg is no longer attached to the Halo TV series

Posted: 15 Feb 2018 10:02 PM PST

The Halo TV series was announced back in May 2013, and that it would be on the Halo Channel, with Spielberg helping out as executive producer and putting money into the project (he wouldn't be part of the creative process). However, since then, we've heard nothing of the show. All we know is that the show will be a cooperative production between Microsoft and Showtime, and will be run on that cable channel. Over the past 2 years or so, we've heard zilch from Spielberg or his involvement. He's doing a bunch of new films, Ready Player One coming next month, and The Post currently in theaters. He's planning on his next 2 films being Indiana Jones 5 and a remake of West Side Story. We've heard from Showtime that the show is still in the pre-production process, and will happen (at some point hopefully). I think Spielberg left the project, which is what lead to Microsoft partnering up with Showtime. I don't think MS and Spielberg left on bad terms, but rather Spielberg wanted to put all his attention and money into his new movies. I think due to them being on good terms, Microsoft allowed Spielberg and Warner Bros to use stuff from Halo in Spielberg's new movie Ready Player One. This is just my 2 cents.
