Small Guide on Shard Spending on Season Start (1-70)

Posted: 18 Feb 2018 06:41 AM PST

New season is around the corner and i thought id repost my old guide that i made for the last season for all the new players we gained in the few months :) (since there are virtually no changes for the upcoming season the items are still valid)

because of challenge rifts basically giving you starting shards that you can spend at kadala, i thought i'd sit down and note which legendaries you can get at which early levels for a quick leveling experience at Season Start.

  • Keep your Challenge Rift until the Season Starts
  • Create a new season character and then do the Challenge Rift
  • When you claim your materials on your Seasonal Character, the following items are the worthwhile ones that you should be looking for:

Bloodshard Season Start Doc

until around item-lvl 16 you can gamble all legendaries at level 1. you get a little less than 500 Shards from the Rift. Items that are not listed are either not that good or amulets, weapons or suboptimal rings. because of sheer Bloodshard cost the chance of getting them is almost 0, so not at all viable.

Before or After getting those you can also go get the Cube in act 3.

Once you reach level 40-50 you max out your Smith and Enchantress and craft lvl 70 weapons, trying to get level reduction (can roll up to 30 level reduction).

hope this little tip helps you guys get over the first leveling quick for a great start.

Regards.

Posted: 18 Feb 2018 08:29 AM PST

I play only Necromancer now and I love this void ball transmog from my Wizard, maybe it isnt that hard to make? If any D3 staff left can you toss this to developers? Much appreciated!

LFG Last spot S13 start [EU] [HC]. Dedicated group!

Posted: 18 Feb 2018 07:54 AM PST

We are a 3 man group looking for a last spot. Currently; Barb, DH and WD. We all have extensive knowledge on the leveling process and been testing lvl 1 gambles, timing cube runs at different level caps etc.

The most succesful test in regard to time was actually quite suprising:

Challenge rift in group 2. Gamble % multiplier on spell 3. Get cube straight away (took 5 mins avg in lvl 1, knowing the maps) 4. Cube the legendary. DH will cube Pox Faulds that actually means he one shots all packs for the whole start, and I will one shot RG from lvl 1 and up after cubing HoTA bracers. 5. Kill kulle or bounty boss. 6. Rift on hard. 7. Grab the lvl 70 reduced lvl req weap you rolled. 8. Smack more monsters. If this process sounds appealing to you - and you play a fast (semi fast leveling toon like Necro). Let's talk more ingame.

Just comment Battletag - will add you online. I check reddit 4-5 times a day.

Best, Bourbon

EDIT: We play for atleast 18 hours straight, then shot sleep break and 16+ hours Saturday. Most importantly, we have FUN. We are 3 lovely gents.

1-70 on a DH (solo)?

Posted: 18 Feb 2018 09:06 PM PST

Hi there,

I'm most probably going to roll DH on Friday and wanted to ask if some of you could share their experiences for quickly leveling to 70.

What's the best difficulty setting? What's the best zones (i.e. Fields of Misery with Massacre bonus, rifting, Halls of Agony Falling Blades...) What are good leveling skills (Chakram?) Are there low - level items worth gambling? (I tried Hellcat Waistguard on a low lvl DH, didn't seem to be worth it).

I'm familiar with the general procedure on season start, but I want to know what you think is best specifically for DH.

And lastly: how much faster/easier would be levelling on a Monk?

Am I kind of cheating if I farm the Cow King for uniques on Diablo II PlugY mod?

Posted: 18 Feb 2018 07:07 AM PST

After years of release of this game I'm back at it with the PlugY mod, which allows me to kill the Cow King and still open the cow level again.

So I killed the cow king once and got an unique from it, then I killed it again and didn't pick up the loot because it feels like it's too easy... Do you guys farm the cow king? Should I feel like I'm kind of cheating?

300 weeks of regular news videos

Posted: 18 Feb 2018 01:36 PM PST

This guy from Poland has been making a summary of all most important information from Diablo world regularly week after week for exactly 300 weeks straight.

I know it's in Polish, so most people won't understand a thing, but I guess it's still worth noting.

[NA][PC][SC] Looking for S13 launch group

Posted: 18 Feb 2018 02:48 PM PST

Hello everyone! I'm looking to join a 4-man group that can play together for 10+ hours straight when S13 launches and continue playing in the weekend after a good rest. I would prefer that the group uses voice chat (Discord etc) and is prepared for launch a day before launch (i.e. decide on first-day plan). A rathma speed group would be the best, although I'm not against other compositions.

FYI, I will be playing Necro. Thanks! :)

S13 Solo Conquests

Posted: 18 Feb 2018 09:56 AM PST

"Divinity" and "The Thrill" are a given, but I'm not sure which to go after for my 3rd. I've tried and failed "Sprinter" before, I've completed "Masters of the Universe" before but would like to avoid doing it again if I can help it, and I've never tried to do "Curses!" so I don't know how easy or hard it is to solo.

I'm currently thinking of playing Earthquake Barb since it seems to be the best and most convenient fit for "Curses!", but then I'm a bit concerned about "T13 Rift under 4 minutes" because of low movespeed. If it wasn't for "Curses!" I'd probably go for Garg WD. I'd like to do everything on one character if I can. Any suggestions?

Anyone got link to starter guide?

Posted: 18 Feb 2018 09:15 AM PST

With starter guide I mean what to kadala gamble at start, when to visit vendors, when to gamble 70 weapon, what first to do at 70 etc.

Remember using something like that last season but can't find it now.

Looking for S13 Leveling Group

Posted: 18 Feb 2018 09:12 AM PST

Hey all,

Since there's no thread up yet for the season, just wanted to see if anyone would interested in joining up for leveling this Friday. Ideally we'd be grouped to 70 and through as much of the Journey to get all our initial 6 pieces. I'll be running a Crusader for shits & giggles; no specific group composition needed! If folks want to, I've got a Discord server and TS3 for VOIP.

Do you think Diablo 4 should bake set bonuses into advanced classes?

Posted: 18 Feb 2018 01:47 PM PST

In the lull between seasons, I've been watching a number of different vids on folks' vision of what they believe should happen in D4, but one of the things I see these commentators miss out on is just how much of a strength the loadout system in Diablo 3 is. Again and again, people make the mistake of saying "Well, D3 had some issues... so we should go entirely back to the ancient, jank system of two decades ago", not realizing how much progress the franchise has made in terms of being approachable and fun for the casual player, and what kind of freedom the casual player has in trying out different skills, runes, and passives without blowing 40+ hours on a build only to realize it sucks (cough PoE cough).

In D3, the biggest choice you make is in the character class you play, and the next biggest choice you make is in what item set you wear. In neither case are you ever punished for making a "wrong" choice as all classes are considered strong, viable options, and all sets are generally competitive and can be freely swapped at will. These two decisions are the most defining aspect of who your character is, and that's great because it trickles down into every aspect of the character from gameplay feel, thematic feel, etc. It does have a problem though - one of the two core central pillars of your character is entirely gated by either whatever comes from Haedring's Gift, or the mercy of RNG. That doesn't feel great.

The dream then to solve all the concerns of "My barb is too much like your barb", without undoing the progress that the franchise made with D3's flexible and approachable skill system, is to incorporate the set based bonuses into advanced classes. You get several knock-on effects - more reasons to level up new characters (say you level up a Barb and convert him into an "Immortal", well, now you have a reason to roll another Barb - maybe you want to convert this new barb into a "Berseker"), more personality to individual characters, freeing up item slots for other types of items, so on and so forth. Assuming that the next Diablo launches with 5 classes, and if we had 3 advanced classes per class at launch, that'd mean Blizzard would need to manage roughly 15 different "advanced classes" - kind of a large number, but not totally unmanagable - very few sets of gear in D3 right now are awful, so I think it's not unreasonable that every advanced class could be fun and roughly balanced.

Most importantly, by not stepping back to the old system, you keep many of the benefits of the new system. Look at some sets like Immortal Kings, or Arkhans - these sets still allow for room in experimentation and personalization within those specs themselves. You keep almost all of the freedom and flexibility of the loadout system of D3 such as trying out different skills and passives to see what you personally enjoy the most, while deepening the sense of investment and development within individual characters.

Just a thought. I'm sure Blizzard already has a vision of where they want to take D4, this is just my opinion on where I might like to see it go.

Challenge Run

Posted: 18 Feb 2018 10:42 AM PST

Long... long. time diablo 1, 2 and 3 player.. me and a buddy had an itch to come back to d3 for a little bit this coming season, however i cannot be bothered to play through general d3, i just hate the progression in the game, and a lot of the design around items...

Negativity aside, we were thinking about doing a little challenge run on high difficulty with some rules. So far it's just "No Set item's". and that means none at all, even if you are only wearing 1 piece of the set, and no LoN jewelry.

I was wondering if any of you guys have done any "challenge runs" before, and if so what rules did you guys use. i was flirting with the idea of limiting legendaries aswell, to like 5 + cube.

Just want to spice up the progression and make our characters a little more personal, whilst keeping great difficulty.

I think there is an achievement or challenge for reaching GR45 with no sets or so, if so that is the goal i suppose.
