Bungie, as a teacher I can assure you - kids are not reading the webcomics and those that play the game aren't doing it for the story so STOP GEARING IT TOWARD CHILDREN

Posted: 03 Feb 2018 10:23 AM PST

Not salt, real-world input

School Teacher and resident Des'plainer here...

I've had dozens of conversations with adolescents over the past four years concerning Destiny, and honestly not a SINGLE one of the kids I've talked to really cares about the story, so I daresay the target for lines like "later haters" and, er, simple storytelling is a missed one.

PvP strategies? Raid mechanics? Gun Meta? Sure. But even students of mine that are paying attention to the story notice a dramatic downturn in quality ("cringey" was a good description I got this week).

All that said, there's no reason to even aim so low with these narratives... way back in '98 I was 10 years old picking up Metal Gear Solid for the first time and the complex, challenging story was unlike anything I had ever experienced. Kids can be challenged by a story and LOVE IT, I promise!

Truly, this isn't meant to be a salt post, its a plea to add some complexity and heft (back) into Destiny's storytelling.

Bungie when the next DLC is a week away from dropping please do a one time in game event hyping it like you used to do with the old DLC

Posted: 03 Feb 2018 03:53 AM PST

Remember how before Crota dropped we had random blades of Crota drops or before HOW we got random high level HOW enemies to fight? Can we have this again please? This used to bring so much insane hype and speculation for the DLC.

For DLC 2 Can we have the option to replay Homecoming/Adieu and unlock "Damaged" Ornaments for Ikora's gear sets?

Posted: 03 Feb 2018 07:34 AM PST

The Damaged ornaments have been asked for a bunch here on this sub and i'm hoping you can find some way to introduce them and maybe tie them in with the missions Homecoming and Adieu from the campaign. It's been so long since i've been able to play those missions and would love if:

  • Homecoming and Adieu were put into the weekly rotation of replayable "Meditations" available from Ikora

  • Homecoming and Adieu were introduced as a part of a new "Campaign Playlist" feature/activity

I also think adding the "Damaged" armor set as ornaments for the existing Ikora sets should be tied to something more interesting than saving up tokens to buy them or get them to drop. I was thinking something along the lines of:

  • Introduce a Campaign Playlist that has different difficulties (like legendary, heroic, normal from Halo) and maybe some selectable modifiers too. To unlock the "Damaged Ornaments" you have to play through the campaign on the hardest "Prestige" difficulty and you earn the ornaments as you progress.

  • Hide the "Damaged Ornaments" throughout the campaign as secret collectibles. Once you find a damaged piece of armor hidden somewhere in one of the missions, it pops up on your screen saying "you unlocked an ornament" and you can immediately equip it on your Ikora gear set. If you really want to introduce a grind, make it so that you have to have the entire Ikora gear set equipped before you can find these hidden pieces/ornaments.

These are just a few of the possibilities I thought i'd share on how to introduce Damaged ornaments and introduce a nice playlist of the campaign for people who enjoyed it. The meditations are nice but it isn't really letting players play the way they want to play by restricting which missions they can and cannot do each week. I'd love if you could spread the word on this and maybe we can get this as a goal for one of the future updates! :D

I actually forgot about it but I made a mock up of a Campaign Playlist a while ago!

As a PC player, I've never played D1 so I decided to watch a walkthrough of it on YouTube. The one thing that stands out the most to me is how much more mysterious and dark the atmosphere in that game is.

Posted: 03 Feb 2018 11:04 AM PST

They managed to make the player feel this amazing sense of wonder as well, that is quite unique. What is interesting is that I made sure to catch up on the lore of the game before D2 launched on PC, and even though I know exactly what transpired in D1, I still feel eager seeing the original story unfold. Funny thing is I'm not even the one playing it and I still feel that way.

There are a lot of issues with the the story of D1, don't get me wrong, but the atmosphere around it is definitely not one of them. And if I could pick one thing and one thing only for them to change in Destiny 2, it would be for the world to be made as dark and mysterious as the original entry.

If hunters get a speed boost while using Quickfang, I want an armor boost while using Crownsplitter.

Posted: 03 Feb 2018 08:43 AM PST

I have used both and there is some type of speed boost for that sword. I only thinks its fair for the heavier sword to get an armor boost.

Just saying

This is not a complaint against Quickfang, just saying the class specific swords should give different boosts.

Edit: All you down voters are just hunters trying to keep this out of the public view. Selfish

DLC2 should come with a "I've played D1" boolean for PC players.

Bungie, along with the increased speed and movement, I’d like to see D1 radar recovery

Posted: 03 Feb 2018 09:31 AM PST

I think this is a small but vital part of speeding up gameplay and bringing back the feel of D1 Crucible.

NASA Plays Destiny to Talk About Mars - Twitch.tv/NASA

Posted: 03 Feb 2018 09:35 AM PST

People say crucible is more balanced now but all I see is invis Nightstalkers with Antiope D + Uriels + Rockets / Colony

Posted: 03 Feb 2018 06:08 AM PST

I don't feel like there's much diversity at the minute, and if I want to succeed then the title loadout is waaaaaay better than everything else. Sure I can do ok with other set ups (MIDA, last hope, better devils etc), but in a 1v1 with a player of equal skill the title loadout wins hands down 99% of the time. For me that's not balanced.

I'm not a dev so I don't know how to fix it, but I feel like putting aim assist on to invis nightstalkers OR the increasing the cool down time on invis might help me run into less 4 stacked nightstalker / Antiope teams in trials and IB.

Love the sound of the new sandbox changes coming from the TWAB and Josh H - just thought I would share my two pence while there's still time!

Ok, real talk. I would have loved to have seen Taeko-3 and her fireteam within the strike at some point and then had a chance to receive her and her fireteams unique armour as a reward.

Posted: 02 Feb 2018 11:25 PM PST

I'm not expecting them to change the strike, but for future content.

Imagine starting with an NPC fireteam then splitting off and remaining on comms and end up saving or avenging them!

Can ornaments please just auto-unlock instead of going to the already over-flowing mods?

Posted: 02 Feb 2018 08:10 PM PST

It's a really pointless task to have to unlock an ornament since it's perma-unlocked after the first one anyway.

If kinetic and energy weapons can share weapon types why can’t energy and heavy?

Posted: 03 Feb 2018 09:42 AM PST

It seems pretty obvious that a lot of people want snipers and shotguns back in the secondary slot, however Bungie doesn't want to get rid of the new system they made for destiny 2. I feel like a good solution would be to make snipers and shotguns (of course that aren't as strong) that are available for the energy slot. The only issue I could see is that these weapons would either be horrible in crucible or OP, but a lot of energy weapons like ARs are already incredibly powerful.

I obviously have not fully thought it out, but I think this fix would satisfy a lot of players.

Was the Karnstein Armlet nerf really necessary?

Posted: 03 Feb 2018 06:22 AM PST

They're practically useless now and everyone complains about boring to use exotics. They were actually good pre-nerf now I don't know anyone that uses them.

Kind of a 2 month later post but I haven't seen anyone complain and it really needs to be said.

Why is it the Titan Striker can one shot a Hunter Gunslinger while in super, but a Gunslinger can't one shot a Striker?

Posted: 03 Feb 2018 10:05 AM PST

Edit: Fair points on range vs melee.

Edit 2: Equally fair point as to why Striker can one shot storm caller and arcstrider. They're both close range just like Striker.

2 tokens for a loss is absolutely brutal

Posted: 03 Feb 2018 10:11 AM PST

With the number of people leaving when you go down 20-10 early playing out the game is brutal. Unless you just channel your inner Kraftyy and go on an insane streak, that 20-10 deficit (which is totally manageable) just runs out of control while the game looks for someone else to place into your party. Then you get your measly 2 tokens after getting smashed.

Posted yesterday about how fun Prometheus Lens is to use. This clip shows you exactly why.

This video clip is purely to show how the Prometheus Lens can be fun to use...You can define the word "fun" however you want. If you don't like the gun that's cool but I enjoy it.

For the next Iron Banner, please prioritize the new shaders in packages or sell them for tokens!

Posted: 03 Feb 2018 11:15 AM PST

So today is Day 5 of Iron Banner and I have played quite a bit already. Redeemed a ton of packages (not sure exactly, I think around 15-20) and have only managed to pick up TWO of the Season 2 Iron Banner shaders. Instead, I keep getting more of the Season 1 shaders. Quite a bit of them actually.

I'd love if for the next Iron Banner if you could prioritize new season shaders so that their drop rate is way higher than the old season ones, or even better you could have them up for sale: Maybe 3-5 shaders for 10 tokens?

I'm thankful you guys went back to the D1 style iron banner where stuff is offered for sale so that I don't have to rely on packages, and I was even lucky enough to pick up the new Sparrow and Ship so far! But since shaders are consumable, I'd love if I had some way to get more of them before the Season ends. Thanks!

Golden Gun duration is way too short now

Posted: 02 Feb 2018 05:58 PM PST

Now that they nerfed the 3 shot to 8 seconds as well, Golden Gun is just way too short

Why did they even need to nerf it in the first place? Makes no sense

Please buff it to 10 seconds

Clan Banner icon should get gold border at Rank 6

Posted: 03 Feb 2018 12:03 PM PST

With Masterwork armor here, the ghost and clan banner slots are starting to look a bit off (setting aside exotics). I think a gold banner for Clan Rank 6 would look great

An idea for a Hunter exotic that would make them have a "panic" option with supers

Posted: 03 Feb 2018 01:42 PM PST

So, I was thinking about how Hunters don't have an option like the other classes to have a "panic" super in case they round a corner with low health and there's someone right there (ex: Fists of Havoc, Nova Bomb, Stormtrance with Landfall, etc.)

So, Hunter exotic gauntlets. Activating Golden Gun instantly makes you shoot a GG shot from the hip, drawing like a cowboy, to where you're aiming. This shot does not count in your total GG shots (so you would still get your 3 or 6 shots after that first one)

I think it's cool.

[u.1:01] We were holding "B" and "C." Had them locked. But someone always gets cocky. You know the problem with heroes? In the wilds, they save the day. In the Crucible? They cost you the easy win.

Faster Warlock Movement You Say?

Posted: 02 Feb 2018 09:45 PM PST

I won't accept any increase to Warlock movement unless it's on this level.

INFO: For those curious what's happening in this clip, a small group of us, during the D2 console beta, discovered a glitch that allowed you to exponentially increase the warlock glide speed.

How it essentially occurred, was if you died in the middle of your Dawnblade animation, you'd respawn with the movement enhancements of Dawnblade still in tact, with your super still fully charged. This would mean your initial boost in your jump was faster, you floated in the air for longer, and you could just generally fly around faster, so much so, that you could eventually just float through out of bounds push barriers, which my brother discovered in our early testing, eventually allowing me to get out of Homecoming and on top of the Tower spire.

Each time you repeated this glitch without going into your menu(as that would reset your speed), you'd multiply all affects of Dawnblade already applied by 2. So by 7 stacks, you were one fast boi. So fast, that you would vibrate in the air.

In that first clip, Leon, my clanmate who ultimately led to the discovery of this glitch by stumbling into it, wanted to see what 30+ stacks would do. In that clip, he'd lost count.

Sadly, we discovered this glitch with only 3 days left in the beta, and we didn't get to reach the full potential of it. Wanted to test it on the PvP maps, but it was difficult to get 8 together to match together for it, especially since we were trying to keep this glitch super hush hush in the hopes it made it to full release.

I'm hoping this movement update can help bring back some of that fast fun that was in D1, but I'm also pretty heavily hoping it brings another bug of this fashion. Because there was nothing quite like the view from the top of that monolithic structure in the Cistern. And I wanna see that view once more as well as so many more.

If a gun is weaker than another gun but SOUNDS more powerful when it shoots, I would use the better-sounding gun even if it’s weak.

Posted: 03 Feb 2018 01:47 AM PST

I just love the sound of Old Fashioned. Even if Bad News and Pribina have more impact or even other perks, I'm always finding myself shooting the best-sounding guns. Sunshot is a juicy sound. Crown Splitter is my hard rock song sword. Inaugural Address is like a singing bird. Hawthorne's shotgun is like slamming a drum with a heavy chain, especially on full auto. If a gun SOUNDS powerful, I would FEEL powerful. It doesn't really matter what the specs were.

Counterbalance Mods have NO EFFECT on weapons with Precision Frame. Don’t waste your slots!

Posted: 03 Feb 2018 09:55 AM PST

I feel really stupid about this, because I've been doing it for months. But I've been stacking counterbalance mods, and then using guns like Origin Story, Antiope-D, Nameless Midnight, Uriel's Gift, and Prosecutor.

Apparently, and this doesn't seem to be common knowledge, the Precision Frame intrinsic perk is not compatible with these weapons! It has no effect on them!

And it's easy to see why a lot of people don't realize this. Bungie left this completely vague. The mod description says nothing at all about this, and neither does the Precision Frame perk description!

I'm really disappointed. I primarily us weapons with Precision Frame, so I've been wasting mod slots for months! And not only that - fuck I feel like an idiot - I've blown a TON of mod components and glimmer purchasing Counterbalance mods from Banshee! I've even made multiple "Counterbalance" sets for each of my three characters!

Now, I don't mean to say that Counterbalance mods are a total waste. They can definitely make weapons that don't have the Precision Frame perk much more viable. For example, last night in Iron Banner I paired a Sand Wasp with an Energy Counterbalance armor set and it was really great. I'm just saying that most of the meta guns are Precision Frame, and a lot of people don't realize that Counterbalance isn't effecting them.

EDIT:

I'd like to give a shout-out to /u/Pygex who made THIS POST about Counterbalance mods.

Unfortunately I missed this post when it was made, and only read it today.

Also, I've been trying very hard to be constructive instead of salty... but goddam did I blow a shit load of mod components buying these damn things. Oh well... looks like I'll try out high ROF Pulses for a while. Hell, I'll make it my new meta!

EDIT 2: Why is this getting slammed with downvotes? It certainly isn't common knowledge!
