With Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition coming out for the Switch, what things do you think need to be added?

Posted: 12 Jan 2018 12:04 AM PST

We already know it's going to have all the DLCs and (AFAIK) use the updated interface/controls/etc. from the 3DS version, but they're also gonna need to add some new content to keep things fresh. What do you think they should add?

Here's my list:

  • Play as the Champions from Breath of the Wild. They'd be a perfect fit for Hyrule Warriors gameplay.
  • More boss enemies. In particular, I'd love for a BotW Lynel to be added, and we'd definitely need to see Guardians in some shape or form (though not as mook-type enemies).
  • Online multiplayer (if that's possible).
  • Add the Spinner from Twilight Princess as an extra item-type weapon (like the Bombs, Bow and Arrow, etc.) that would be helpful for stunning enemies that are all around you.
  • Maybe add in a small collaboration with Xenoblade Chronicles 2 by adding in Pyra and/or Mythra as playable characters.

MM3D Stone Tower Temple different from N64 version, why is it like this?

Posted: 12 Jan 2018 03:02 AM PST

I noticed that in the English Version of MM3D that when I went to the Stone Tower Temple that the switches on the entrance platform to the temple were gone, unlike the n64 version, and it got very irritating to go out, invert, revert and then do the Elegy of emptiness song 3 times. Why is this?

(SPOILERS) Did I just totally miss getting a Champion's weapon?

Posted: 11 Jan 2018 10:19 PM PST

My DB order was Ruta, Naboris, Rudania, then Medoh. When I cleared Rudania, the Boss gave me a weapon that should it ever break I can take to the blacksmith in town and have a new one forged. It was about this time I realized that I never received the Lightscale Trident. Then I started wondering "well, shit! If I never got it, is it even possible to have a new one made?!"

Mind you I'm 200+ hours in. I wasn't angry at all. If anything, I was amazed that there really is always something more to find. I've mentally added "zora spear" to my list of shit to do and can't wait to spend another 200+ hours enjoying this game. It really does get better every time I start it up.

Timeline Theory Based on Ganondorf [BoTW] [TP] [WW] [OOT]

Posted: 12 Jan 2018 08:49 AM PST

[EDIT: Added TP in to denote that I am referring to TP Ganondorf] So, I've been getting back to being heavily interested in Zelda lore, and I've come up with some thoughts.

TLDR: I believe Ganondorf's behavior in WW vs his behavior in TP may be the key to placing BOTW on the child timeline. Also, a key quote from TP may explain it.

First and foremost, I believe that there is enough evidence to confirm the theory that BOTW takes place in the child timeline. (or at least it confirms it until Nintendo comes in and overrules this)

So, we know that the split in the adult and child timelines creates two Ganondorfs, and they take on distinctly different personalities:

The Ganondorf of the Adult Timeline is sealed in the sacred realm, but shows up in Wind Waker after Hyrule is flooded to prevent him from taking over with the absence of the hero. Ganondorf's portrayal in Wind Waker is not the same as his previous portrayal- Ganondorf is portrayed as more of a Tragic Villain who's motivation was related to the fact that his country suffered because of the winds, while Hyrule flourished because of them. Video: Ganondorf and Link WW For some reason, Ganondorf does not display that same evil we see in OOT and the remainder of the child timeline. Maybe his years of Solitude in the Sacred Realm had a toll? Maybe when his countrymen (er, women) turned on him during OOT to help Link, it hurt him deeper than we thought? Whatever the reason for it, Ganondorf's behavior is pretty different.

Now, let's look at the child timeline: We all know that Link goes back to warn Zelda about what happened in the adult timeline, which essentially splits the timeline. When he does, Ganondorf is apprehended and sentenced to execution. (I don't know how Ganondorf actually obtained the Triforce in this timeline, so if anyone has any confirmation, please share!) There is something very important about this moment that really gives credibility to BOTW being in the child timeline. In the scene of Ganondorf's execution, the sages make comments about his ruthlessness and evil, but its this quote that really stands out to me: "His abiding hatred and lust for power turned into purest malice." What is the purple stuff found all around Hyrule and all over Calamity Ganon? Malice. King Roam comments multiple times about Calamity Ganon's Malice. Also worth noting- Ganondorf in TP is more focused/motivated by revenge, and is much more sinister in this attack on Hyrule as opposed to his Wind Waker incarnation. Let's also take note of the fact that as Calamity Ganon, he essentially wiped out a great majority of Hyrule's people and completely demolished the Castle and its town. Rather than simply conquer, this incarnation of Ganon is of complete Malice, with the apparent intent to destroy everything and everyone. WW Ganondorf did not intend to destroy Hyrule, not this time. He wanted Hyrule; his failed wish was for the Gods to "expose Hyrule to the rays of the Sun," and give it to him.

I can't help but feel like the differences in personality and motivation between the portrayal's of his incarnations give credence to the fact that BoTW has to be in the child timeline. However, because of the existence of Koroks, and Rito races, (and the fact that Beedle exists in WW and BoTW), I believe that this game takes place at the same exact time that WW would have taken place, completely parallel from each other.

What do you guys think? Share your thoughts, but lets be civil about it, lol!
