Ways to make a new playthrough feel fresh and different?

Posted: 07 Jan 2018 05:17 AM PST

Beyond different class, what methods or playstyles do you use to make a playthrough feel unique and new? Right now ive been playing the Survival Mode (got it when it was free) and its really breathed new life into the game for me.

Supportive Playstyle During Dragon Attack In Towns (Good for increasing restoration!)

Posted: 06 Jan 2018 09:51 PM PST

A bit earlier I was using the dawnstar chest to gather soul gems, as I was farming up enchanting. One of the time's I was heading back to the Khajiit caravan leader a blood dragon attacked dawnstar. I didn't want her to die so I wipped out healing hands and a ward spell in both hands, and became a healer for her. The other Khajiits, along with many of the guards, became engaged in the battle and I ended up keeping them healed during the battle too. I also put up a ward and went infront of anyone the dragon was using his fire breath on. I kept this up until the guards and khajiits killed the dragon. There were no casualties, and increased my restoration quite a bit. I personally really enjoyed it. I hadn't thought of doing something like this before during an attack.

If you have a large healer/mage build doing things like this during a town dragon attack is really beneficial to restoration.

Unsure if something like this was ever shared before, but if not I really wanted to share this playstyle 'cause it was fun.

Heimskr stopped preaching?

Posted: 07 Jan 2018 05:03 AM PST

Whiterun just isnt the same. He stopped preaching a few hours ago. My skyrim was unmodded and i have no idea why this happened. I poked around in the console commands and searched "help heimskr".

I found that his preaching is some sort of quest that is on repeat. So i used "sqv (quest id)" to see its status.

It showed a list of things, but the lines that stood out most were "REF (reference) Heimskr = none" which obviously means that heimskr isnt counted as being alive, which makes no sense at all. Other noteworthy lines were that the quest was disable and stopped, but i think we can see that.

So my question is how do i fix this? Do i have to verify my files? What will that do now that ive got mods installed? Will it also reset my ini tweaks? Whiterun just isnt the same. People say his preaching is annoying but i miss his crazy talk so much. Someone help.

SOMEONE DO SOMETHING!

[Question] A couple of beginner questions. Is the main quest always the one at the top and if not, is there any other way of knowing? Secondly, is there anyway to see without equipping an item if it is one-handed or two-handed?

Thanks in advance :)
