I just wanted to talk about Willow the Terrier. Posted: 11 Jan 2018 08:36 AM PST I started a new colony. Middle of the road, Phoebe, middle difficulty. Within 20 minutes the colony was attacked by a single dude with a knife. Willow just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. The first hit instantly severed his spine. The assaulter was immediately dispatched. Willow was carried to his bed (which had to be built because I was only 20 minutes in). Its been three years. Every day Willow is fed, he just lays there, unable to move. Occasionally he will give the colonist that feeds him a lick and they receive a small stat bonus because its cute. This is my saddest most bittersweet Rimworld story. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 11 Jan 2018 10:20 AM PST Drops a centipede with a charge blaster into my best miner's room. Who is a heavy sleeper. Killed him before we could get there in time to beat him to death. Permadeath Randy Intense. Arggg. Just needed to vent. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Jan 2018 12:52 AM PST Hi, I've had this happen to me a few times now and have seen in on people's stream. Am I just getting super lucky or is this really a common thing? Playing Randy, Extreme, Permadeath, Boreal Forest with the Crashlanded start in case anyone is wondering. My base is build out of wood (first year still). Then Sappers come. Shit. I draft all my colonists, equip long-range weapons, and get ready to start sniping away at the Sappers before they can start demolishing my base. Halfway to them, I suddenly realize that the Sappers are merrily sapping away at a random ancient ruin on the map, and find myself thinking - "Wait a Minute, wasn't that an ancient danger?" It was. It had 5 Mechanoids in it, which easily stomped the Sapper-Raiders, then the mechanoids charged me, but the Scythers were all already dead and I kited the Centipedes around the map until they were dead too. Result: No pawns were wounded as a result of this fight, and now we have 20 Luci and some Artefacts from the ancient danger, a shitload of weapons and drugs from the raiders, 5 dead mechanoids to chop up when we get a machining table, and let's not forget the guy with 19 Shooting and 19 Research that was in the Cryptosleep Casket in the ancient danger... EDIT: A thought: Does Randy also make it more random what the raiders actually target on the map or is that a complete coincidence? [link] [comments] |
And here I thought using animals against a psychic ship would be a good idea... Posted: 11 Jan 2018 09:43 PM PST A psychic AI ship has landed on the inside of my colony's base, barely behind the defenses I built against actual raids. I had to get rid of it as quickly as possible, because I was rushing to save a colonist with a high skill that was kidnapped during a raid and appeared in the "prison camp opportunity"(or some event like that). By that time, I had a huge amount of muffalos and alpacas thanks to the wandering caravan mod events, but also bought a lot of dogs/wolves, since I found them useful haulers once you train them. So I've decided to use the animals(only 2 colonists handled all of them) to destroy and distract mechanoids. 4 mechanoids showed up and were being punched out by animals, all went fine.. until something I've never experienced in over my 200 hours of Rimworld gameplay happened(or maybe it did, but I just forgot it out of not caring): A line of text appeared saying " The ancient structure has emitted a psychic pulse that has driven nearby animals mad. " and all my colonists were suddenly outnumbered, the right side of the screen was filled with event prompts. Even though I play with many mods, I never really installed any mods that do stuff with psychic ships or raids.. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 11 Jan 2018 11:27 AM PST Hi there folks. Since the socialist republic of RESISTANCE at Rogue One has a no drugs policy I wanted to let everyone in on how we deal with those that might have lingering addictions. It's GULAG + RE-EDUCATION. Seriously though, I had a guy named Slick who was wigging out at every opportunity due to a lack of wake-up, despite being fed like french royalty with no responsibilities in the world. So, Goobs the Caravaneer tore one of his thumbs off in an arrest attempt and then proceeded to lock him up until he sweat it all out cold turkey over the course of several days. Now Slick with a social skill of 10 is our best negotiator and is all around just happy to help with any other task as long as he's the only one wearing a cowboy hat. [link] [comments] |
What should I do with my grand legendary gold sculpture.. Posted: 11 Jan 2018 08:53 PM PST My level 18 artist went on an art frenzy and made a grand legendary gold sculpture worth 130k and 10k beauty.. should I keep it or sell? Who would I be able to sell it to? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 11 Jan 2018 08:49 PM PST Found this paging through my pictures folder. I think this colony was called SirtaCorp (Mass Effect represent) and I think it's one of my cleanest colony constructions to date even though I never ended up finishing it (18 update and heavy mod use). I remember I had Rimatomics at the time and was going to turn that big lake to the north into a nuclear power plant (cooling for the reactor). Fun memories! [link] [comments] |
Orion Corps are nothing to be messed with. Posted: 11 Jan 2018 04:59 PM PST I just had my first major Orion Corps raid, and man they're nothing to mess with. The carnage in this picture just shows how op they are. Well, I've got their stuff now so haha. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/393879871274745868/401178046079565824/unknown.png [link] [comments] |

Today's hilarious/happy accident Posted: 11 Jan 2018 10:06 AM PST I have a thriving colony, Intoxicants Unlimited, with almost 40 members and a lovely base. We've been here for 18 years (in two days). As is usual in these cases, mechanoids keep trying to wipe me out. Today, they sent 5 scythers and 4 centipedes. Shortly after they arrived and began coming toward my southern killway (like a kill box, but more of a hallway) a herd of migrating ibex came through at almost the same location. I had a colonist using a mortar to launch EMP shells at the centipedes, to hopefully make the attack come in waves instead of one onslaught. He missed. It hit the herd, who of course, turned manhunter. I didn't get a count on how many of them there were, I'd say 30+. They flooded the killway and attacked the mechanoids for me. Of the mechanoids, only two centipedes actually made it through the killway and ibexes. Very little damage to my colonists, just some minor burns and one lost eye. Plus now I don't have to hunt for quite some time. Playing on Cassandra Base Builder with EPOE mod. [link] [comments] |
Any tutorials that don't give too much about the game away? Posted: 12 Jan 2018 01:51 AM PST I'm looking for a YouTube tutorial that doesn't walk me through how to start, but shows me how to best control my colonists, start up my power etc. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
