[Suggestion] Make future Community Days a two-day event, Saturday and Sunday

Posted: 20 Jan 2018 01:16 PM PST

I was just thinking about this on my way over to the local park for Community Day. I'm Jewish, and though I don't observe Judaism all that closely, I know many who do. Part of being an observant Jew means keeping shomer shabbat - which basically means from sunset on Friday until sunset on Saturday, you are bound to a strict set of rules which include no leaving your place of residence and no use of electric devices. More to the point, this means no playing Pokemon Go on a Saturday afternoon.

Now, I'm well aware that Jews who are shomer shabbat make up a tiny portion of the Pokemon Go community, and that many if not most people would consider a Saturday afternoon to be the optimal time for such an event. However, the timing of Community Day affects more than just a few religious Jews. Aside from the obvious fact that some people work on Saturdays, in some countries children are also in school on Saturdays (one which I know of is France).

So my suggestion to remedy this is to make Community Day a two-day affair every month - "Community Weekend", if you will. Three hours on Saturday, three hours on Sunday.

If EX Raids are any indication, Niantic tends not to take these kinds of things into consideration, but it's a nice thought.

Niantic, please schedule the next community day for a Sunday!

What do other people think?

I imagine fewer people are working / busy.. and have more time free to enjoy the bonuses.

[complaint] Niantic, we need to talk about the GO Plus

Posted: 20 Jan 2018 04:31 PM PST

There have been many changes for the better recently. Weather system and weather boosted Pokemon with high level and stats are a lot of fun (when they don't run, rip 98 Feebas). As a result, mons are a bit harder to catch, require more attempts or better balls, and that is a huge problem for the GO Plus.

Traditionally, it's caught around 50% on average, which is fine. You win some, you lose some. Now I'm counting all the way down to 10-20% catch rate. Again, I understand that the harder they are to catch, the less likely they are to get caught with the Plus.

The problem is that we paid some serious money for this thing, and some of us feel ripped off. When 80% of it is throwing out ammo without gaining anything at all, something needs to be adjusted. For it to be worth the material it's made of, it has to work as advertised, as it used to work.

It got worse once half the spawns were Shuppet after Halloween, and after the weather update it's at a tragic level. Now, after the latest update, it feels like mons are even harder to catch, again. I'm only doing it manually nowadays, because the plus doesn't work anymore. Everything requires more and more attempts. The Plus is in my pocket for tracking distance and the occasional Zubat.

Can you please meet us halfway here? You took our money for a physical device. It has to work to a certain degree. You have to adjust how it works.

And for the love of all things precious, let us choose to spin stops first!

Riachu doesn't keep surf!

It should be noted that when Riachu is evolved from a Pikachu with surf it doesn't keep surf. It seems as though another move is randomly selected.

Reminiscing

Posted: 20 Jan 2018 09:05 PM PST

Today's Community Day event reminded me of the summer of 2016 when Pokemon Go was released. The park I played at was filled with people catching Pokemon and just having a great time. I can't wait for next months Community event!

The new update keeps your last used ball as your current ball during your next capture!

This is amazing for go plus users as we won't have to switch to greatball every time now! Yay!

[Question] How are the pikachu spawn rates outside of parks?

Posted: 20 Jan 2018 07:05 AM PST

I will probably be indoors due to the weather and am wondering whether I will miss my chance at a shiny pikachu so any information on spawn rates outside of parks will be helpful. Thanks

Our community day in the rain

Posted: 20 Jan 2018 05:07 PM PST

We had a pretty good turnout despite rainy and cold weather. Proud of our leaders on discord for putting this together. Thus isn't quite everyone as some people were meandering through the park at the time of the photo

[Bug] I caught a shiny Pikachu right at 2 PST and when I got to the caught screen it is a normal Pikachu.

Posted: 20 Jan 2018 02:10 PM PST

I'm a little salty right now. At least I got one shiny pikachu before hand near the start of the event but the one that deshinyed itself had higher CP...

Sadly the only image I have of when this pikachu was shiny is when it jumped out of the first pokeball I used on it (had a horrible moment where I realized if it ran my family would want proof I actually saw one so I took a screenshot).

Perhaps EX Raid-exclusive Pokémon would work well as timed exclusives

Posted: 20 Jan 2018 07:11 AM PST

(Sorry if this has been posted before. I imagine it has, but I couldn't find it.)

Many of us, probably even the majority of players will never get an EX-Raid invite (which in itself doesn't guarantee a Mewtwo). I've come to terms with that as being Niantic's intention. They did call them Exclusive Raids for a reason, so it's logical in a way that not everyone gets to do them.

However, everyone wants their Mewtwo. Gotta catch 'em all, after all. Don't gate the game in such a way that the majority of players can't complete one of the main goals!

A nice compromise Niantic between these conflicting ideas would be for Ex-Raid bosses like Mewtwo (and presumably Mew / Celebi / etc.) to move to Tier 5 raids after a period of exclusivity to EX-Raids. That way the element of exclusivity is retained, and the barrier to entry is eventually lowered. For those Mewtwo owners that feel their Mewtwo gets devalued by this, an exclusive 'EX' marker could be added to the info, maybe where the Pokéball type icon is.

I know this isn't foolproof, as not everyone gets to raid (that's a whole other kettle of Magikarp) but I think that Niantic announcing a measure like this would do HEAPS for calming disappointed/angry players who feel like they will never get Mewtwo.

I'm not saying "don't fix EX-Raids". Please do, but changing exclusivity to timed-exclusivity alleviates the issue considerably, I think.

Thoughts?

Today was brilliant but....

Posted: 20 Jan 2018 09:59 AM PST

I must admit that I was sceptical when ninantic announced community day but they got it right, way more feet on the cold and windy streets of a pretty small Irish city, some new faces, five Kyogre raids in the 3 hour window and plenty pikas. All in all a very successful morning. My only gripe is that I was lucky to have today off,a few regular players were stuck in work, pure luck that I had it booked off for something else. It would be brilliant if ninantic gave us more notice, they don't have to give detail, Just the dates, let us plan more. If any of the ninantic guys that reddit are reading this please give us more notice, sometimes life gets in the way of pokemon go but with a decent calender of events we can make sure it doesn't and you can get a heap more money off us. It's win win.

Extending Levels beyond 40, a disccusion.

Posted: 20 Jan 2018 04:59 AM PST

I understand that the community might be quite divided on this one, but I do trust a good discussion on this forum to happen. Here, I will like to discuss a few scenarios, and whether or not it will actually be something that might resolve into a better game by improving the meta.

assumption: Not touching Pokemon max levels here, they will stay where they are, cause I do want this discussion to lean towards a 'power struggle', rather, I want to see a higher level only giving 'life quality improvement' features for now.

Scenario 1. Simply extending to 50 - goal, so XP in the game doesn't become pointless after level 40, gives another 'bragging' rights to some, and also will at last give some meaning to those Lucky Eggs given to you at level 40. :p

-Scenario 2 higher Level Trainers beyond level 40 will have a higher chance of getting Pokemon's of higher IV. The math I will leave to geniuses, though I believe most hardcore players will have a tendency to 'go perfect', and this might become a good direction which will draw people to continue to strife higher for the remaining levels after their mons maxed out.

Scenario 3, Team Battles, PVP, to begin at level 40, and give the game another mode, PvP battles, which might take part in gyms or whatnot, the details are not as important. It is more about the idea.

Now, as a community, do we think these are directions, or things that might be stimulating as a whole? Will this make the game more popular? or totally unnecessary, agree or not, I will very much like to hear that opinion of yours. If you have time, Do share.

best regards.

[Humor] Niantic been hyping Community Day more than GO Fest

[Idea] - Let us Register Community Day events to be Sponsored by Niantic

Posted: 20 Jan 2018 10:01 PM PST

Loved the community day event. On Thursday I volunteered to lead my town's community day event. We have a perfect spot around a man-made lake called the commons in which there are about 8 Pokestops and a gym. It takes about 5 minutes to do a lap, so you're constantly hitting stops.

Once Thursday, I just advertised it a bit. Neighboring cities joined, and we had WELL over 100 people show up to our event. We had prizes for the person that caught the most shinies, and most Pikachu overall. A lot of people got to meet each other and it overall was a GREAT experience.

Since I was the host, I asked people as they walked around how they were enjoying the event, if they caught Shinies, and just their opinions overall. Everyone had the same reaction.

"It's great! I'm having a blast, but I wish a Kyogre or some decent raids would spawn..."

It was nearly everyone saying the same thing. Eventually a T2 did spawn at a gym, and just about everyone went and did it because that gym has given out EX raid passes. It was a Marowak, and nearly every single person didn't even give a damn about the actual boss. They just wanted credit for the EX. Some didn't even attempt to catch it, because they didn't want to waste their time on it when they wanted more Pikachu.

So the idea I have is simple. Since this is a monthly event, why not allow people per certain city limits be able to REGISTER their event, and that way Niantic can make it so decent raids spawn within the event at that time window? If we had a Kyogre raid spawn, the event would have been flawlessly perfect. But alas, we got a boss literally no one was interested in.

Since this event also gets people out playing that hardly play, it would give them a chance to get the legendary for the month.

So, what could happen is have a form for one person to fill out to register their park or area that they plan on hosting an event at. They then need 10 or so signatures to confirm this event is going to happen. In this area, raid eggs aren't a thing and the legendary spawns at any gym within the area designated by the people registering for the event. Since the event is 3 hours, every hour the Legendary is refreshed so people can participate it in again.

Other than that, I do want to thank Niantic for having this wonderful idea. I met a lot of new friends today because of it, and I absolutely cannot wait until next months event.

Is there anything i can do now?

Posted: 20 Jan 2018 09:53 PM PST

I bought 200 hkd play store gift card and wanted to buy a gift box. Guess what, it scrolled up and misclicked the 100 pokeballs option (I didn't even tried to click on it, it lagged and just clicked on there 2 times by itself) and wasted me 460 coins literally. I'm so mad right now, is there anything i can do?
