Posted: 20 Jan 2018 06:53 PM PST I've been trying t find better keyboard arrangement to play heroes that requires more actives/control groups. Currently, my items are 1-6 and select group/hero select is z-v I find it pretty inefficient for control groups [link] [comments] |
Is there an efficient way to get mechanically better at using the keyboard and mouse? Posted: 20 Jan 2018 12:37 PM PST The truth is I can't play heroes that requires a lot of keys and I can't use all the item slots. I seem to manage at my MMR bracket just fine but I think I need to get better mechanically. I can't even properly aim with my mouse sometimes. Is there any training method for my problem? Thanks in advance :) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Jan 2018 06:21 PM PST Naga was brought up in another thread, and personally anytime I've played her as a support I enjoyed it. I'm hoping to test it out on Monday when I'm off, but has anyone tried this? I imagine starting items could be something like windlace/OoV and mango/tangos/clarities. I would think urn/spirit vessel, solar crest for early and core items. What else would she want to buy other than maybe a blink for initiation or counter initiation? I would get tranquils or mana boots. I imagine you could pick up a diffusal to turn into a core if you wanted. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Jan 2018 02:19 PM PST 3.3k player, play a lot of OD with good success. So far I've never built midas on the hero, however the item seems very popular in high mmr games. Any advice on when to build midas? Could help me develop my OD play further. [link] [comments] |
How to realistically play kotl in a pub? Posted: 20 Jan 2018 02:12 PM PST So I played my first game of kotl today and had so much fun on the hero. I played him as a 4 position in the offlane and did pretty well, and basically single handedly kept my team in the game to eventually win. My questions are regarding timings and how greedy to play. GH (the god of Kotl) gets a 20 minute force staff aghs and buys no wards for the entire game. I feel like this isn't manageable in lower mmrs, where more wards are typically needed (due to the players having less awareness). What target timing should I aim for if I need to also buy some wards? Can you realistically play position 5 Kotl? If so, again what should your timings be on aghs and such? GH also maxes Q and E without a single point in his W. When would you ever get w before maxing the other two skills? I also feel like there is a fine line between being greedy and inactive before you get aghs, essentially playing jungle Kotl, and helping your team and winning games. Any ideas how to better help the team early on? [link] [comments] |
What's the mid role this patch? Posted: 20 Jan 2018 05:35 PM PST I'm hearing conflicting things: I've read before that Mid should stay in lane as long as possible and keep getting xp/gold and denying their other midlaner as much as possible However, I just got out of a game where I outleveled their mid by 3-4 levels, and he was staying in lane with me so I stayed there to keep him down as I was getting several kills on him as well. But my team blamed me for the lost and said "mid didn't gank", "mid is supposed to gank" My understanding is that the roamer should be the one ganking during the laning phase. (We had a spirit breaker on the team) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Jan 2018 11:19 AM PST This is one of OD least built items, and I can't understand why. People literally buy Shadow Blade/Diffusal/Daedalus/Armlet/Dagon more than Greaves. Of the 10 most popular mids right now in 5k+ , you can use it to dispel Invoker's Cold Snap, QoP Shadow Strike and Orchid (a very common item on her), Puck's Rift, while it also dispel NS and ES slow+silences. Against Nyx, raw mana provided instead of INT means you can take less damage from Mana Burn. People would answer "Oh, but you can buy BKB to deal with that". Sure, but this basically forces you to go Treads>Pike>BKB on any situation where there are heroes who can consistently soft disable you. Apart from this, OD can get a Mek faster than a support/offlaner doing it, and if they do not build it for some reason (for example, with a Centaur offlane, as it is a poor choice on him), you can build it. Is there a way to get 750 last hits within 30 mins? Posted: 20 Jan 2018 02:34 AM PST Is there a way to get 750 last hits within 30 mins with SF in an empty lobby? So far I am able to hit 600 but 750 seems way out of reach :( [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Jan 2018 10:31 PM PST Hi. noob question here. What will happen if my BS with lotus orb turned on, rupturing an enemy AM with scepter? Will both heroes get ruptured? What if both hero also turn on blademails?(both BS and AM use blademail, AM with scepter BS with lotus orb? I wonder what the hell will happen. Funny as hell. Thx [link] [comments] |
What could i have done better this game? Posted: 20 Jan 2018 11:50 AM PST I played sf mid and felt like i did a good job but it feels like i still made misstakes that could have been avoided by doing something better like itemization and such. thanks! Match id: 3690314126 [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Jan 2018 02:46 AM PST Any tips on how to play the midlane in general? Like what should I achieve before x mins? When do I leave the lane? How can you get enough cs while engaging in skirmishes/playing safe? When do I buy bottle? [link] [comments] |
When to pick Ember Spirit for safelane? Or even mid. Posted: 20 Jan 2018 03:56 AM PST I'm still on the process of learning how to play some mid matchups with ember spirit and I have been wanting to ask those ember spirit players out there when do they usually pick ember spirit. Is magical type ember spirit viable in safelane? [link] [comments] |
What could i have done better this game? Posted: 20 Jan 2018 09:45 AM PST https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3690080590 I was playing lycan, was vs clinkz in lane and felt like i cant do anything, asked for rotations a couple of times but only got one like 10 mins in. Elder titan was useless in lane, and I was basically being autoattacked by clinkz when im near lane, and I couldnt really do anything. After that I couldnt farm lanes due to their gank potential(TA, Clinkz, Pudge all were strong) and anywere I wanted to farm either t iny, nyx or tinker would take the farm leaving me super underfarmed. Picking - Practical aid, ideas? Posted: 20 Jan 2018 09:16 AM PST My problem is that during the dpick phaseI get stressed very often and I feel that 50-80% of my picks weren't the things that I really wanted to pick but I ended up taking an advice, clicking comfort or guessing. The weird thing is that I have played for many years in all roles, and I've played the matchups I struggle with many times.... It's like I just go blank but in same game if a friend asks me what they should pick I can list and order 10 different heroes and what builds they should go for and how that will change how our team functions but when its my turn still nothing, and once it lets go I know the pick n its anything from right as I clicked to right after game... I get the same problem with the item shop when trying to figure out what my next item should be... like some kind of weird versions of tip of my tongue. Is there any solution for my hero and item selection anxiety disorder? No, jokes aside but when I ended up with a PL vs AM core matchup, which I personally heavy dislike and I was certain it would never work but I just froze completely and took what my teammates suggested me. I know that one of the situations it usually hpapens is when i see to many problems that needs to be solved with the item/hero... Thoughts? Do you guys have any practical solutions? I was using one of the picker sites bcz seeing the picks suggested and the rating gets me thinking around why and if I agree and it is much easier surveyable than theis big blod with thousands of unidentifiable squares of random shit... The other day two games in a row same matchup, and both times I knew the best pick for me wouldve been to pick off-lane omni into their jugg... instead I ended up with a lot of deaths, even for off-lane. One of the games the enemy team had a skywrath which made me to uncertain on the omni pick and how bad it would get or playour before I got myself a dispel. The PL game it was AM core with enigma that just... I havent solved that one yet actually because I am just at a spot where these ults feel unsolvable bcz I know A. They will solo chrono/black hole me and I will die W/o even gotten a solar or anything thrown on me and even if I am our pos 5and get solo blackholed my team will lose, or it will be half my team dead in chrono/bh. I just feel that my hero and my impact has to be so much better then I feel that I can handle because I know I have to get all the wards and sometimes even hand out detection to everyone, that sometimes they pick up, win my lane(usually off-lane), win mid-lane and then keep him alive while... securing my safe-laner farm while my support is solo shrining to get some mana back.... And before I queue the only thing I can think is... God I hope I dont get to see our roamer for at least 5min. Last part is shitposting but I would be happy to take any advice on how to approach picking phase bcz right now Im just spammming two heroes unless I get forced ou t of those roles by overpickers. EDIT: Forgot to add for some perspecitve that I have a lot of experience drafting for both team and in-houses and that was fine... just solo queue. [link] [comments] |

How do you deal with Axe cutting your lane creeps? Posted: 20 Jan 2018 12:36 AM PST I'm talking early game, and as a support (I almost exclusively play support). Often if an Axe is spotted cutting our creeps and leveling like mad, my carry is more preoccupied with getting last hits under tower. The Axe gets fat, fast, and I can't harass him out of lane. If my carry won't cooperate/is too scared to engage him, what can I do as a support in the situation? All I can think of is asking for help or picking SS for his right click harass. Saw a losing PA go HotD then winning Posted: 20 Jan 2018 08:07 AM PST Hello I noticed some pros going HotD if they are doing bad as a safelane carry then having their mid pretty much dominate. This PA was like doing so bad it was moon from Animal Planet but he was level 14 while everyone was 19+ but he still won. I was wondering if I was Arc Warden to go HotD aNd necro book if I lost my mid or safe lane too. What are the comeback mechanics? My ideal build is Midas Maelstrom BoT then SB. Which of the core items should I stop in favor of HotD? So far I get Midas and if I'm doing bad I go force staff or necro. If I'm doing super bad I go force staff first items against gankers that get on top of me like bat Nyx Naix and viper and clock. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Jan 2018 07:52 AM PST Hey Guys, i have 1500 hours on Dota2, and the last time i played the game was Late 2014. I haven't touched it since due to a lot of reasons but i'm looking to get back into it. I know ive missed alot ive been watching streamers play and just noticing new runes, the map completely changing, different hero's playing different positions and so much more. My question is, What are the Major things that i missed out on, i know theres been a heap of now items and hero's etc but can someone TLDR it for me? Cheers. [link] [comments] |
Should I 'pick for the team' when I'm not experienced with the hero or role? Posted: 19 Jan 2018 11:21 PM PST I've noticed that people don't like playing support. I don't have a problem with the role, but I don't like 'support-y' heroes. (Spellcasters with low health that heal.) If we don't have a courier, I'll buy one. If we need wards, I'll buy some. But I like playing big melee heroes that do damage with their attacks, not spells. Is there someone like that who would be acceptable as a support? [link] [comments] |

Legend 2 pleb playing as Luna. Posted: 20 Jan 2018 02:19 AM PST https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3689267307 So i tried my best to carry my team despite having a lead in the early game. My sf was playing badly. But i felt i could've done something to win the game. Could someone above my skill level point out my mistakes? [link] [comments] |
