Posted: 10 Jan 2018 03:17 PM PST I love this game but I think the gems-only bundle-only skins are a terrible sales decision for both Blizzard and players for the following reasons:
Microtransactions need to be a lot more micro. Sell each skin individually for gems, but please do not make it so that you can only buy 5 skins for a massive price. Acceptable use of mictrotransactions allow players control over how much money they feel comfortable spending, and it shouldn't feel like an all-or-nothing deal. Owning a skin that other people KNOW you payed a ridiculous price for reflects very negatively on the player. There's almost an automatic judgement that takes place, and people are embarrassed of that. The big thing that 2.0 did right was that it removed the taboo of skins from the game. Now owning a high quality skin didn't immediately label you as a whale. Bundle-exclusive gem-only skins do exactly that. Even some player who's willing to spend the money may decide not to simply because they don't want to be singled out. Most of the people who want to spend money don't want to advertise that they do. If it's possible to receive a skin by any other means, players will be more inclined to spend money simply because they have plausible deniability. Nobody wants their friends asking "dude, did you really spend 20 dollars just for that skin?" I understand that the game has to make money, but this is not the right way. While it is a step in the right direction, this sales philosophy feels short-sighted and out of touch with the mentality of the players. Solution? Sell skins individually for gems, and discount them as a bundle. After a set amount of time, depreciate to shards and include them in loot boxes. This way it feels like a limited time offer, and people can buy whatever suits them. [link] [comments] | ||

How can Korean playerbase reach out to Blizz about Blizz Korea? Posted: 10 Jan 2018 04:42 PM PST The localization quality of HoTS (And Blizzard games in general including Hearthstone/WoW) has taken such a rapid decline lately. It's gotten so bad to the point where to "BlizzardKorea" something became synonymous for "bad translation" (Google search of "To BlizzardKorea" shows result 'They BlizzardKorea'd Stukov's Talents')
While most errors are tooltip errors and grammar errors which doesn't affect gameplay that much, there are other things which affect gameplay directly such as missing developer's notes in patchnotes, missing tooltips, wrong values, confusing grammar, and players even found proof that Blizzard Korea is using GOOGLE TRANSLATE for their job.
Currently in the Korean HoTS client, searching Alexstrasza shows no results, however if you google translate 알렉스트라자 (Korean) to Allegseu teula ja (Google translation).... it works This applies for the every hero, Zariya shows no results, you have to search for Jaliya, why? you guessed it
That's not even the worst part of it all. During the last two biggest updates, they haven't aligned text so that it fits with the page at all, Assault on Volskaya Foundry cuts off like

The winter event was a mess too, the main page reads as

Patchnotes are a mess too, half of the developer notes are missing which are crucial in helping the community understand the developer's intentions and directions towards the balance. Side by side comparison of the August 23th patchnote (Korean / English) You will be able to see that Korean patchnotes is missing most developer comments. They have developer comments on Butcher however, which translates to "I heard mincing meat too much reduces the taste". Korean players seem ridiculed and made fun of by this as the English patchnotes go over Butcher's balance changes in a detail. The latest patchnote has multiple typos in skill names such as Precision Strike -> Really Strike / Zul'Jin's Lacerate -> Zul'Jin can't lacerate / Literally leaving out parts of the english patchnote on the Korean patchnote (th'e match') all which have not been fixed yet, even when there are 5+ comments below the post correcting it. Server maintenance messages have been full of carelessness as well. Heroes -> Hesero / Translating Hour/Day/Month to Month/Day/Hour but forgetting to swap Month/Day, confusing the hell out of many players, and also careless formatting + saying "06:00am" instead of 6AM/morning 6
And lastly, and worst of all, in game tooltips. There are so many tooltip errors and mistranslations in the game that players have to decipher their way playing the game. Many of these issues existed since beginning of the game and Blizzard Korea has never replied despite the community asking multiple times for clarification. I'll just go off on a list. Everything except for the first few are recent, as in they all happened in just the last 1~2 monthes. Ones that are still not fixed in-game will be bolded. Illidan's [[Friend or Foe]] doesn't state 'Allied Heroes' it only states 'Allies' Zagara's [[Nydus Network]] has two translations in the same text, 땅굴 and 땅꿀 Tooltip about tower ammo isn't removed from the game yet Nova Portrait= "Varian Portrait, Get level 5 as Xul to collect" ????, fixed after 1 month Hanzo's new 20 talent tooltip is missing from game Blaze's Combustion isn't translated
This is just on the top of my head, there are many, many other inconsistencies and errors that I can find in the Korean client that affect player's gameplay. This isn't even something that is only posted here. Players have been asking Blizzard Korea for a fix/clarification for ages, yet to no avail. It may come off as nitpicking but a ton of these errors exist, and Blizzard Korea refuses to give any feedback to the community about it and only a very few of them gets ever fixed. For something as big as Hanzo's new 20 talent and Blaze, couldn't they have at least proofread and tested the game once before releasing it? Korean players are tired of playing a game where the company doesn't feel like they give two shits about their game. I tried the forums but there was no section for it, where else can Korean players try to reach out to Blizzard about this? She got what looked like the revival of the old Master Skins and I could look past the G.O.S. (Gem only skins), even with their terrible pricing. Now both Hanzo and Blaze have no alternate skins available at launch. For a large majority of the player-base, this basically means there are no skins you can really get for your new hero unless you're going to start paying up the cash. I mean at this rate, we're literally just going back to Pre 2.0 with hero skins just being gated off all the time. I think it'd be safe to say it's only a matter of time before we start getting G.O.S. during updates as well. While these two heroes may not be ones we want, what are we going to do when Deathwing comes?! I mean, I'm sure that in the future we'll get a new skin for some of the heroes but don't forget some Heroes take literal years to get new skins. Greymane took forever to get one and a lot of other heroes still are lacking new skins since their launch. While The Lost Vikings may be a very specific hero to enjoy for most people, don't forget they have yet to ever get a skin since their launch on Feb 10, 2015, three years ago in one month! They haven't even gotten a pallet swap, either. The loot box debates aside, Blizz, please don't continue to ruin a big drawing point of HotS, the fact that unlike in a lot of other MOBAs, you can (could) unlock all the cool skins just by playing the game. Playing on the European server, I'm often paired with people who have different game languages, for example Polish and Russian. I'm playing on the English version myself and it's hard for me to comprehend what other people mean, even though I'm Polish. It's especially confusing during the pick phase, when people say stuff 'please don't pick Gazol' (which means Gazlowe - though that's not as hard to comprehend). Here are some other examples:

The black lines on his shoulders have visible pixels for me. For me at least the entire model looks like Iam watching YouTube in 360p IMPORTANT EDIT: double check your texture quality in your settings. Mine was automatically bumped down from ultra to medium. The title speaks for itself. As an Aba main, it pains me that I can't monitor all of my cooldowns when I'm using Symbiote. Personally, I'd love to have an auxiliary bar that shows all of the abilities that have CDs on it (Locust Strain, Locust Nest, Toxic Nests, Evolve Monstrosity/Ultimate Evolution, Mule) so I can decide whether or not it'd be more beneficial for me to stay with the Symbiote, or to remove it. Not saying Aba should be able to use the abilities when using Symbiote, but only to monitor them while using it (so just grey them out on the aux bar when using Symbiote). [link] [comments] | ||

Posted: 10 Jan 2018 03:44 PM PST Hi, just played my first game with new reworked malfurion on live server and tbh i felt quite weak Here is what i noticed: your heal without moonfire is really low, so when there is no enemy it takes ages to fully heal your team you put yourself to dangerous positions to spam moonfire, which result in taking lot of poke dmg or deaths even it doesnt look so, it is quite hard to hit most of your moonfires (the increased moonfire area talent and cd reduction was moved to lvl 16 and 20) heal from hitting one hero feels weak, you must hit at least three to be heal impactful, which is rare*the regrowth icons are hard to see and dont show how much time remain you go oom quite quickly by spamming moonfires all time his waveclear is lower (lunar shower is now lvl 20 talent and even then you must spam moonfires on enemy heroes instead minions) So, i would like to know if you feel similar or it is because it was my first game with him. On my last 3 HL games, my team was being massacred on the first 10 minutes. I almost, almost typed something on chat "with this team comp we actually deserve to lose", "gg our DPS has less hero damage than our healer" or "we can't win every game, lets just give up". But I just swallowed it and keep going. And out of fucking nowhere, we just started outperforming the enemy team and grabbed a win. I don't know what happens, I believe that the other team just get overconfident, but turns out that we just start winning out of nowhere. And it is exactly what people repeat over and over: Hero League is nothing more than a Russian Roulette where the team who has the rager loses. And if the rager is not you, it has more chance to be one of the other 5 players on the enemy team, rather than your other 4 teammates. [link] [comments] | ||

Mengsk Hero Concept, with talents Posted: 10 Jan 2018 10:48 AM PST Notes: There was a time I wanted to see Mengsk as "the Terran Abathur," never participating directly in combat and instead managing lanes and having a global presence. After we got Stukov in his current form, that opinion changed. So what defines Mengsk as a villain? Strongarming enemies, manipulating his allies' better natures, and using their heroic sacrifices for personal gain. With that in mind, I give you Mengsk. "Make no mistake, war is coming... With all its glory, and all its horror." Arcturus Mengsk, Emperor of the Dominion of Man - Ranged Specialist Mengsk's basic attacks are him firing a pistol at the target. They are slow(~0.8/s) and weak, but see his trait. D - Coercion - Enemy heroes that are damaged by Mengsk's basic attacks and/or basic or heroic abilities gain charges of Coercion. These charges disappear after five seconds of not gaining new Coercion. Once an enemy has accumulated three charges of Coercion, they become coerced and Mengsk's abilities affect them differently. Coerced enemies' coercion decays normally. Q - Punitive Shot - Mengsk fires a single pistol shot in a long straight line, impacting on the first enemy hit within range, exploding and dealing damage to the target and all enemies around them. If the target was already coerced, that enemy and all other nearby enemies are stunned for .75 seconds. 8s cooldown. "You have your orders, Mister Findlay." W - Firing Squad - Mengsk and all coerced enemies fire a shot toward the targeted location, each shot dealing heavy damage to the first enemy hero they impact on. Enemies can only gain one coercion stack from a single cast of Firing Squad no matter how many shots actually hit them. 16s cooldown. E - Sidestep - Mengsk dashes a short distance(~Tychus dash) in the chosen direction. All coerced enemies are pushed the same distance in the opposite direction. 12s cooldown. R1 - Xel'Naga Monolith - Mengsk summons a destructible Xel'Naga Monolith at the target location within range that blocks pathing. After one second, it pulses, dealing damage in a wide area around it. If it hits any enemies, it pulses again after one more second, dealing increasing damage in a wider area. The monolith can pulse a maximum of four times. Coerced enemies affected are also silenced for one second. 80s cooldown. R2 - Unwitting Pawn - Target a coerced enemy at any range. That enemy becomes rigged with explosives that arm after one second. If that enemy dies or gets hit by Punitive Shot within the next four seconds, the explosives detonate, dealing massive damage to all enemies nearby. 100s cooldown. Talents: Level 1: Air of Intimidation - Whenever an enemy hero attacks Mengsk, all nearby enemy heroes gain one stack of coercion. This can only happen once every eight seconds. Insinuation - Punitive Shot applies an additional coercion stack to its primary target. Ruthless Commander - Active/Toggle: Allied melee minions nearby explode when killed, dealing minor damage to all nearby enemies(more to minions) and applying coercion stacks to any heroes damaged this way. Level 4: The Better Part of Valor - Sidestep grants Mengsk +30% movespeed for four seconds. Attrition - Sidestep slows all enemies pushed by 50% for two seconds. Dominion Conscripts - Friendly non-boss mercenaries near Mengsk deal 100% more damage and apply coercion stacks to heroes they attack. Level 7: Punisher Rounds - Punitive Shot slows all enemies damaged by 50% for two seconds. If the primary target was coerced, this slow begins after the stun ends. Flechette Rounds - Punitive Shot gets +30% range and +30% detonation radius. Propaganda Screen - Active: Target an allied tower, fort, keep, or a crater within range to place a propaganda screen. Towers with screens' attacks splash for partial damage around their primary target and apply coercion stacks to heroes they hit or splash to. If placed on a crater, a smaller temporary tower is created that has less hp and attacks for less damage than a real tower but still splashes. This screen remains in place for eight seconds or until the tower is destroyed. 90s cooldown. Level 10: Xel'Naga Monolith - See Above Unwitting Pawn - See Above Level 13: Force of Authority - Stuns, roots, and silences from coerced enemies on Mengsk have their durations reduced by 75%. Logistical Expert - Mengsk's allies that attack coerced enemies gain a small shield that stacks with itself up to five times. Belay That Order - Whenever an allied hero dies, Mengsk gains an aura that grants himself and nearby allied heroes 15 armor and +15% movespeed for four seconds. This aura stacks with itself if more than one hero dies. Level 16: Seeds Of Treachery - All coerced enemies gain an aura that lowers their nearby allies' armor by 15. No More Half Measures - Punitive Shot now carries two charges. You Have Your Orders - Each Firing Squad shot deals 5% more damage per coerced enemy that fired. Level 20: Secrets of the Artifact(Heroic) - The monolith's pulses now give Mengsk a shield for all damage it deals. The shields last for four seconds. You Will Be Remembered As A Hero(Heroic) - Active: Mark an ally(other than Mengsk) within short range. This mark is visible to enemies, and indicates that that ally will explode after dying for massive damage to enemies in the surrounding area. If you take block for example, the enemy valla might see this and go Q build. If you take spell shield, she might take percent damage or attack speed. I know this seems like it's true of every assassin, but it doesn't seem to be to the level of these 3 characters, at least to ME. I'd like to hear more about this topic from others.
