[plugin] Updated ArcDPS Realtime Mechanics Log/Chart Posted: 14 Jan 2018 03:44 PM PST I've been working on a plugin for ArcDPS using its realtime combat api for some time now. I posted about an early version a while back, but a lot has changed and I've been working on a bunch of new features that I'm finally releasing. The original plugin was a realtime list of recieved/failed mechanics for players. It shows a timestamp in 'min:sec' since entering combat and 'X was hit by Y mechanic'. See this for an example screenshot from a pug Deimos attempt (with names redacted) The plugin is now integrated into the arcdps UI. I've also added a bunch of new mechanics for detection and a chart that shows all the mechanics each player has received and/or failed along with a count of how many times each player has downed/died. The chart keeps track of all mechanics across all pulls until manually cleared. See this for an example chart from 18 pulls of Dhuum CM (with names blurred out). Yes. This is ToS complaint. I've talked to Chris Cleary from Anet and he did not see any issues with compliance. - part1 part2 As of this posting, it detects
If anyone from the Arenanet Fractal/Raid teams is reading this, please include client-side combat data for all events in fights and that the events can distinguish different outcomes. I've run into several places where it appears that things happen server-side without any useful client notification. If anyone is interested, I'm more than happy to go into detail on my findings/issues. I'm always open to suggestions/feedback/requests. Send bug reports, feedback, hate mail, cookies, etc to 'MarsEdge' on reddit or 'MarsEdge.8241' ingame Special thanks to:

Posted: 14 Jan 2018 08:22 AM PST To help with the timings and/or locations in the new wing, I made a couple of graphics, similar to my old post on the Cairn greens last year. I posted them to the wiki as well but since there are multiple pages (Each boss/event and a page on the full wing walkthrough) not sure how many people it reaches. Everything presented is to my best knowledge and testing, though that doesn't mean i didn't miss anything; feel free to point stuff out. Restricting how many times we can edit a LFG post with a spam limit is really retarded Posted: 14 Jan 2018 09:06 AM PST I've really tried to find a good reason for this to exist, but there is none, which is why that wording is appropriate. It's beyond any logic or reasoning. Sometimes, making a group for some niche content taking a specific class comp requires many, many edits of a LFG post because people have little patience (especially on weekends) and just come and go as they please. However, after 3 edits, it's just impossible for a raid pug commander to modify the said post and the entire squad is fucked because of that. Happens to me so often that I've more or less given up as of today because of this brilliant design decision. Ironically, since the squad is doomed, I have to apologize to the entire group because of this wonderful limit. That's really the best part. [link] [comments]

I regret not getting into this game sooner. It's really a great game Posted: 13 Jan 2018 07:47 PM PST So I've play WoW for 13 years now. I love that game. Recently, however, I was looking for something new to play. I remembered a couple years ago trying GW2 since it had gone f2p and not thinking too much of the game at the time. Around Christmas time I was going through Steam looking at all the f2p MMOs. I tried them all and none of them grabbed me the way WoW did back in 2004. I decided to try GW2 on a whim again last Saturday and it had the same effect as it did 2 years ago, I just felt pretty meh about the whole game. I forced myself to keep playing though, trying new classes and leveling them to around 10 or so. Finally, it clicked, probably about last Saturday or Sunday and I got hooked. You cannot play this game like a "normal" MMO since it's not. I look at it as a relaxing evening adventure, running around and exploring, finding cool stuff. Leveling doesn't feel like a chore, it just kinda happens. There is so much going on with hearts, random events, world boss spawns and the gold ring mobs and skull mobs (sorry, I don't know their proper names. The bandits for example). There are times where I feel a little overwhelmed! I am having so much fun that I even bought PoF expansion to unlock more character slots and to get rid of the f2p restrictions. Don't worry, I haven't used the boost! Everything I've tried has been a lot of fun. The combat is neat, I like being able to switch weapons and get different skills based on what I have equipped. The zones are incredibly gorgeous, like I am in awe of some of the vistas and cities. I did some crazy guild events today (a race and some kind of puzzle with curtains) and it was a ton of fun. I want to get more character slots so I can level an Engineer in addition to the other classes I picked, haha. I have a level 20 Mesmer that I enjoy, an 18 Guardian, a level 10 Revenant, and then a level 1 Ranger and Warlock. Next time I have some extra money I am planning to buy some gems for that and probably bank space, I have no room in mine already! Anyway, this game is great and I wish I started playing it a lot sooner! [link] [comments]
Why non-damaging conditions should have 'some' effect on bosses (other than breakbar damage)... Posted: 14 Jan 2018 03:32 AM PST Non-damaging conditions like weakness, chill and cripple do not apply their effects to any enemy with breakbars (which is sadly no longer limited to champions and bosses). This greatly limits their uses. Normal enemies are affected but are so weak that they're usually defeated before the effect really changes the flow of combat. On champions, where the effects would make a difference, they only affect breakbars. While that would be of some use, in most cases multiple conditions are hardly enough to overcome breakbar regeneration. And for champions with special 'break or die' mechanics, the breakbar phase doesn't last long enough for their effects to be applied. It is understandable that non-damaging conditions do not apply their full effects to bosses. Effects like weakness and chill would simply be too strong if they caused the boss to deal 50% less damage/skill effects respectively. But why not use a toned down effect on bosses instead? I'm sure making the boss deal 5% less damage or walk 10% slower would at least have a small impact on the fight without instantly making it facepalm easy. It would mimic the change of Frost and Light auras, that got a small damage reduction effect to make them worth using in situations where their effects would otherwise be wasted. If anything, it would allow a lot more skills and effects to be useful during fights, or at the very least not completely useless. Since the trend seems to be to add more and more enemies with breakbars, even in open world, I think this would be a point to address. It would allow for some increase consideration of non-damage skills, even if only slightly. [link] [comments]

How is the Necromancer as a whole? Posted: 14 Jan 2018 06:24 PM PST Coming back soon from a 3 year break. I have a level 80 warrior but I want to start fresh. I was thinking of going Revenant, Necromancer, or Mesmer. I hear that Revenant is a solid DPS, and that Mesmer is a good tank, but I hear mixed reviews on the Necromancer. [link] [comments] |
