Generic Hyper-Efficient Pyramid Build

Saw a build on this a few weeks back and was like, "Yo, that's cool! I wonder if I can make it better/more efficient?" So I went and played Twine level constructor in Stonewood for 4 hours alone figuring out different ways to aggro husks. This is the build I came up with.

  • Brief look at the build. As you can see, standard t3 metal pyramid.

  • Worth noting, the sides being stairs instead of roof tiles. Husks aggro the stairs over the slants for whatever reason (at least in this build, maybe because they are trying to go up?).

  • Reverse wood stairs on far left prevent smasher charge at wall (making the entire build smasher charge proof, so long as they don't aggro a wall outside the pyramid).

Closer look at trap-box/aggro mechanic.

Important note: There is a t2 stone floor tile under the metal roof tile. The husks aggro that tile. If it is upgraded to level 3, they won't climb the pyramid and will attack the sides.

  • Oddly enough, they climb on top of the roof tile and then hit downwards, hitting the roof tile instead of the floor they aggro. The Wall launcher DOES trigger and push enemies. The rest of it is just preferential traps. You can put any traps you want anywhere, I recommend ceiling electric field in the middle and gas on the outside, with darts on the far wall. In addition, you can add another 2 ceilings and far walls to the west and east respectively (making a sort of cross), with more ceiling traps and wall darts for additional damage.

  • You CAN choose not to use the floor on the north side, however I find the extra damage trap/slow to be preferential as the launcher sometimes slams enemies into the wall instead of rolling all the way down the pyramid.

As for Lobbers/Propanes: They are the only major threat to the build and still need to be sniped, especially the lobbers. If you're lucky the propanes will just bounce off and then they will aggro like regular dudes, but is an unnecessary risk.

Conclusion: I hate wasting traps man. This is me not wanting to make funnels with tons of traps. Have fun with it!

PS: You can put constructor B.A.S.E. under the roof tile (by aiming at the very edge of the floor tile that you can see) or on top of the trap-box; however if you place it under the roof tile, the top will extend past the roof and CAN block enemies from being wall launched away.

TLDR: Contribution Reward

I'll make this short and to the point.

  • Player 1 Farms the whole game, doesn't sit near the mission objective at all
  • Player 2 Builds a few walls, doesn't lay any traps, doesn't shoot his gun during the mission
  • Player 3 Goes AFK the whole round
  • Player 4 Builds and upgrades and repairs everything, lays all of the traps, shoots thousands of bullets.

End reward: tier 5 chest for all players Do you think all the players deserve to earn a tier 5 chest reward?

My Proposed Fix:

  • The team collectively can earn at best a tier 3 chest. In order to be part of the team and earn the up to tier 3, you must be within the vicinity of the mission objective(s), and combat score only counts within the vicinity of the objective. Upgrading/building/repairing within the vicinity adds to the building score. Utility score for harvesting core materials only (wood/stone/metal) and for placing traps within the objective(s), or crafting ammo. In order to earn the tier 3 you must achieve a %(or 1-2 Standard deviation) of the average score of the team.
  • Earning tier 4-6 chest is based on the individual score (as defined from above for combat/building/utility)
  • Increase the rewards of earning a tier 4/5/6 chest to make the reward significant enough to have people actually want to contribute.

Score Calculation:

Score determination for +1 to tier chest based on Combat/Building/Utility would be calculated based on an average of the combined team average. Example: 6k,2k,2k,1k combat damage. Average is 2.75. Players must be within 50% of the average to earn the +1 for combat to the tier 3 chest. So Player 1,2, and 3 would earn the +1 whilst player 4 at 1K did not contribute enough to make the cut at 1,375. (Likely He did not contribute to traps, abilities, shooting, or was just too low level for the mission).

Opt In selection

You have the option to toggle play with others with the selected preference and will be paired with those users(Competitive scoring or equal reward as a preference). However I get the feeling all the leechers/afkers will play the later.

The afking, the lack of placing traps, the lack of repairing/building, the lack of firing guns is really getting annoying in this game and is discouraging myself (and I am sure others). Why should people who do nothing earn the best rewards? Put some competition in there and it will help eliminate the problems being see with Player 1/2/3 above.

Now apply this methodology to the same scenario from above:

  • Player 1 Earns tier 2 (Earns contribution to utility enough to qualify for tier 2), but requires contribution in combat or building to qualify for tier 3.
  • Player 2 Earns tier 3 (Earns contribution to utility/building enough to qualify for tier 3)
  • Player 3 Earns Tier 1 (No contribution in mission objectives)
  • Player 4 Earns Tier 5

  • Player 1 earns 5 rain.

  • Player 2 earns 10 rain

  • Player 3 earns 0 rain

  • Player 4 earns 20 rain

I know I would try more if I could earn 20 rain in a match by doing enough to qualify for ta tier 5/6, and earning 0-5 for being a lazy piece of hulkbait, wouldn't you?

Now this is not a fix all, but its a hell of a lot better system then what we currently have. I am sick and tired of laying all the traps, placing most of the walls, only to watch soldiers sit on top of pyramids doing nothing, outlanders hiding in corners going afk....

Addressing Comments:

I have done 90% of the "score" just because I am higher level / know what i am doing, but the others tried to help. Should they get penalized because I am there?

Absolutely. It gives player drive to learn how to be better, not to mention if players are too low power level for the mission they are joining they should be slightly punished for this as it makes the mission harder for the players who are level appropriate. If you always get a tier 5 chest but never contribute, how do you know you are doing anything wrong at all? You are getting a good reward so there is no learning/corrections to be made. Having the second part of the tier chest system in place allows for people to learn how to become more involved in the team process to earn that extra 4/5/6 chest and be a valuable part of the team.

My group gives me the materials because I have the highest traps. So in this case, their stats are much lower than mine but they contributed just as much, if not more.

How does your scenario account for that?

It's part of the utility, farming gives utility score but that would only grant a person up to tier 4 max if they did no building or combat. If they want to give you the materials that is their choice. In reality, people should be leveling up traps of their own because they can't always rely on you being there for them to place down traps can they? So this is part of my talk about learning curve, people want to contribute, they need to level up traps so they can assist in defense and in times of urgency.

That is a very bad idea for one reason: You should never force people to compete with their teammates in a coop environment. NEVER.

It's not competing in the sense you are referring too. I would like to focus on the key phrase here, this is a team game, but do you consider it being part of the team when you are not near the objective farming? It's contributing in 1 of 3 factors. A soldier should not just be shooting, he, believe it or not can also repair walls. A ninja, believe it or not, can build and place traps. See where I am going here? Just because classes have preconceived "roles" does not mean they cannot build/upgrade/repair/trap/or shoot as well. And as long as they are obtaining a % of the combined average for that bracket score, they would achieve that tick check for the bonus reward. 3 is already the standard, 4/5/6 are individual bonuses. If you want to achieve the best reward, you will need to shoot/trap/build/repair.

To be honest, it sounds like this system is going to screw over Outlanders who do the right thing.

Outlanders would get score for utility by farming wood/stone/metal. So +1 there. Outlanders, believe it or not can place traps and shoot guns, so +1 there. Outlanders can also place buildings and repair walls, so possibly +1 there. The limits are only on how you play. If you just farm as an outlander and that's it, you should only deserve a +1 to your tier 3 chest.

This is a coop game and I don't want to be competitive with scoring, I want equal rewards.

A "Do Not Want" button

How sweet would it be if there was a toggle/button somewhere where we could choose to auto-drop a particular type of item or resource.

For example, if I am not interested in ever having any Tier 1 or Tier 2 resources/items in my inventory/backpack, it would be cool if I could "auto-drop" these resources/items.

Not only would it help with backpack-space management, but it would also make it easier for other players who do want these resources/items to be able to pick them up.

Now I know you can do this manually, but it is a major headache to have to consantly go through the process of:

  1. Find a safe-place

  2. Open Inventory

  3. Select Resources Tab

  4. Find item/resource you want to drop

  5. Click drop (or drop hotkey)

  6. If more than 1, move the slider to drop the whole stack

  7. Close Inventory

This would be a great quality of life change!

Ummm I'm still having a problem joining my friend.... today's date is 1/30/18 I'm on Xbox one. Wtf it was working last night and now broken again? Am I not doing something right? I'm in game and doing party finder and selecting my friend and choose join, then 1 second later it says FAILED TO JOIN PARTY ( the party is currently not responding to join requests. Please try again later) I've also made sure that we both have to privacy set to public... PLEASE HELP ME!

It's just the worst. I wouldn't even be enticed for tickets, rain AND V-bucks. I only do it if it advances the story, but then I'm in Canny now which means I never do it.

Hey, EPIC! I think it would really be a GREAT idea if we can choose to reroll at least 1 perk to an element for seasonal gold/daily coins..

Just thought of an idea. I know many of us have had really good weapon schematics, but have held onto them for transform keys, rerolls in the future, etc'. What if we had 3-4 decent perks, but without an element. Not having an element in mid canny up to twine peaks puts a huge damper in our damage output, since we are already limited to our arsenal.. (llamas, vbucks, RNG)

What if we had the option of rolling one of the useless perks to an element or element/affliction using daily coins, seasonal gold, or an "elemental flux" acquired through either (a) missions or (b) currency we already acquire through gameplay.

Personally, I would LOVE this as I'm sure many of you guys wouldn't mind having a feature like this as well.

OR.. being able to purchase llamas w/ a weapon type w/ a guaranteed element type applied. (Super Element Ranged/Super Element Melee)

What do you guys think of this idea??

Is anyone else getting the error message that you failed to join a party because the party is not currently responding to join requests? We're having troubles in Fortnite land. We've tried restarting the game multiple times, joining in game and joining through party chat. Any other tricks you can think of?? Thanks!

As the title states, how great would it be to have a Forge/Lab? Taking materials that we have outgrown, and converting them into newer materials...and in turn, freeing up storage space.

For example, taking Rusty Mechanical Parts (M.P) and converting them to Simple M.P. You could even use Research Points as currency for the conversion...get it 'Research' --> 'Lab'...it was meant to be. It should also be noted, that us Day 1 players will be maxing our Research Trees soon & this will put our accumulating Research Points to good use.

i.e.): taking [2] stacks of Rusty M.P. --> Paying [25] Research Points --> converting them into [1] stack of Simple M.P.; taking [2] stack of Simple M.P. --> Paying [50] Research Points --> converting them into [1] stack of Sturdy M.P. & so on, with the Twines and Mineral Powders.

You could also allow us to convert those useless Flowers --> into useful Fibrous Herbs...etc. Or overabundant Batteries --> Nuts & Bolts. The possibilities & combinations are insane.

Please consider this. It would be a great compliment to the Global Inventory/Crafting, if we ever get that back that is.

And for those of you that take issue with mechanics that make the game more enjoyable/playable/user-friendly/easier, if it bothers you that much...You don't have to use the feature! Problem solved. Everyone is happy.
