PSA: The Darkening Portal doesn't open until January 4th

For everyone hoping to do the Darkening dungeon today, sadly it won't open until Thursday. Buried in the 2.4.3 patch notes is this line:

  • Please note that future anniversary events will feature a pre-cursor event available from January 1-3

Saw the confusion pop up and wanted to hop in to reaffirm this! Apologies for not reiterating this information in the blog; we'll get that updated as soon as the rest of us are back in office.

Again, just to be clear: only the pre-cursor event (roaming cultists in Adventure Mode) is currently available. The portal to Old Tristram will open on January 4th.

[Diablo 2]Just want to bring it to people's attention that diablo 2's battlenet is currently free of bots for the most part.

I put 100+ hours into the game after coming back to it for the ladder reset and have no seen a single bot. I see no messages, no inflation, no evidence of rampant duping.

People who use maphack are getting banned on a regular basis. Bnet is finally a legit way to play D2 as a community. It's very interesting to see the game again where an enigma is almost unheard of for most people and hammerdins are being reconsidered because they're litterally too expensive.

[Diablo 2]I did 120 ancient tunnel runs. Here's what I got out of it.

A little context... I'm a cold/lit sorce with 450%+ MF, Merc has no mf. Ancient tunnels is a level 85 area(highest in game, tied with pit) in act 2 lost city. There are no cold immunes here. I farm on uswest ladder softcore.

So far I have gotten:

Several low runes and flawless gems

Several low level uniques and sets

Useful stuff:

Verdungos

3 tal rasha helms

1 tal rasha belt

Titans revenge

Lycander's flank

2 IK boots

1 IK belt

1 IK helm

2 wizard spikes

Runes:

3 ko

2 fal

2 lem

1 pul

1 Mal

1 ist

The runs take several minutes and 100 runs can easily eat away 6+ hours. Is ancient tunnels worth it? Maybe not. You'd be better off getting shako and occy off meph and Andy. But if you're looking for a high level item like tal rasha armor or ik armor and you can't do solo baals then it's not a bad alternative to grind out.

Soooo... are these tiny random FPS stutters me or just the game in general?

So, odd question about D3. I've been away from the game for awhile and came back. Are the fps drop stutters still common, or is it just me, because it's frickin' annoying. Stable 60fps (I put vsync on to check it) and running around it'll stutter randomly and drop 2-5fps (with vsync off it can drop up to 20fps). I worry about playing HC.

I have a 1060 6GB and a Ryzen 5... this shouldn't be a thing. All drivers updated.

[Help]Whats the difference between battlechest & getting the game/DLC separately?

So I'm on the blizzard app right now,and I see this:

Diablo 3 is £7.49 Diablo 3 ROS is £7.49 Diablo 3 Battlechest is £16.99

Now the issue I'm having is this: D3+ROS is £14.98 and the battlechest is £16.99 What is the difference in the battlechest,and should I opt for it or just get the game and DLC separate since its £2 less?

Diablo 3 Alt+Tab Freeze

Whenever I alt tab it hard freezes the game , kill it in task manager, and it's still up. have to hard reset PC to get the game to stop running in the background

edit rolled back nvidia driver, same thing. turned off evga precision x , same thing. for some reason ti worked for 3 bounty runs then just froze again on alt tab, now its doing it again still.

Different skills in Kanai's Cube than on item?

I've come back to my old PC account and realized I have different skills in kanai's Cube than on the weapons in my inventory, but it's not the result of maximizing the roll. For example, my Gyrfalcon's Foote:

Inventory: "Removes the resource cost of Blessed Shield." Kanai's Cube: "Removes the resource cost of Blessed Shield and increases its damage by 350%."

My Jekangbord: Inventory: Ricochets to <5> additional enemies and does 200% dmg Kanai's Cube: 6 additional enemies and <300%> dmg

So in one example, I have an effect on KC that's not on the weapon. In another, the "rollable" stat is different. In both cases, the KC effect is significantly better. Is this a UI glitch? Are these items I "disenchanted" before a patch but get to keep the skill? Is the tooltip just not updated? I confess I'm sort of confused. If I'm just lucky because I added them to the cube 2 years ago, great. If it's just a tooltip error, I'd like to know too.

I have been playing DH this season and decided to try out condemn crusader, since I see people on my friends list pulling off some very impressive clears and the leaderboards certainly show how effective the build is when used by someone who knows what they are doing.

I am someone who does not know what they are doing, I keep dying! even when I have fully committed to toughness options rather than DPS and im trying out low rifts. I Just can't stay alive, I guess the only real HP generation comes from "Holy Cause" but the basic build just isn't clicking for me.

If anyone has some advice I would really appreciate it.

Dear

I am a long time Diablo player, like most of us. Starting from something like 1.09 of Diablo 2 and going strong and investing a couple hundred hours to Diablo 3 for as long as RoS. And leveling crusader full + some paragons.

Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 both have theyr pros and cons. Let's sum the pros together and make Diablo 4.

I have a vision.

Diablo 3. A brilliant game in it's way. But it's a different game than Diablo 2. Yes they can be somewhat compared, but it's useless. They are different beasts.

Diablo 2. In all of the ways totally succeeded masterpiece. Becouse at the time it was OK for the game to be hard. Unbalanced. Have different classes do totally different things. It was OK for the game to be punishing. It was OK for the game to not to tell you precisely what to do for the next step. Aka babysitting. We don't need babysitting. Make the game punishing. Make the game hard.

We are not babies anymore. Most of us are grown men and women. Teenagers. People who play games like Diablo 2 and 3 are not of the mobile gaming age.

INGREDIENTS FOR A SUCCESSFUL DIABLO GAME:

-CREATE GAME and JOIN GAME(like in Diablo 2). This is a very sophisticated and straight up smart way to make the game social. Make the trading possible ingame. In Diablo 3 the Auction house was too much. Becouse it was too easy. Destroys the economy. But we need it possible. This is the answer.

-very high level cap. Yes there needs to be a cap. May it be 99. No paragons. This pushes new people away.

-art of d2 style simplicity and darkness. No unicorns. No teddybears. The art directors seem to seek something new and exciting and different, when what we really need is simplicity. Strong, well made core. Gandalf. Sauron.

-lower the legendary/unique item drop rates from Diablo 3 for Diablo 4.

-cube like horadric cube. This makes possible crafting and combining of gems and runes.

-oh yes we need runes

-and we ofcourse need runewords. What is more cool and addicting than to know, that you have 3 of the required 4 runes you need for that armor runeword you want and to search endlessly for that last rune?

RUNEWORDS and runes are what still differentiates D2 from D3 the most. for its own good. Still today. WE NEED RUNEWORDS

-d3 stash. Account-wide shared stash. Big one. Need this too.

-more players per game. 8. Game harder per player in the game.

-ppl want to do runs. Many different kinds of runs. May they be cowruns, baalruns, diabloruns, what the heck ever. But we need runs. "CREATE GAME" makes this possible. No tags no sht like that. It's excessive. Keep it simple. Keep the core. Add the best cherries on the top.

-teleporting with no cooldown. Yes we need that. It may sound OP, but things can be added for other classes to compansate. In D2 you really can't teleport much until higher levels.

-so we come to big one. Different ways for classes to move fast. Not only enigma and teleport. There does not need to be enigma.

Imagine a thing like " Wall Pull" .

I want a class named Savage. A crazy dirty fked up scary class. This class's moving ability would be to to throw/hurl a fast chain with a triple hook straight for yards and pull himself quickly to the target. This could also make damage to the monsters on the way. So a Wall Pull.

Bottom line - players want to move faster over time once the level of theyr character rises. Take care of that.

-TELEPORTS(things which open from scrolls). We need TELEPORTS. Which other people in your party can use.

And we come to last point. PvP.

-if you add to the game a kind of a Simple, COMPETITIVE pvp system it will be the last cherry on the top. Thing that ties things together. Make the pvp available once something like level 80. Idk what you make, but make the pvp ENDGAME. or better put - one more thing to do in endgame. More choice. But it needs to be competitive.

But the pvp cannot be 1 or 2 hit kill style. No. We need healing in between attacking to make it more exciting.

So we need a class which can heal. Or 2.

-on top of all this add an armful of dark, scary flair. It is a Diablo game afterall.

Stop Being Lazy and WORK!

I've been in far too many games with far too many people that don't work hard enough in grifts. Here's what I see in four mans. See a monster, attack it. Or monk stops, so everyone else stops.

NO!

You see that first pack, you walk right past it. You keep walking and bringing those monsters along until you're scared of how many are back there. That's when the zbarb gets too work and pulls them all up. And if you don't have a zbarb someone needs to go and tease those bastards so they keep running along.

It's not time for anyone else to stop working then either! Rg killer or someone else if you don't have one then moves ahead of the part and pulls everything back to the monk and trash killer. I keep seeing rgks stop with the party and hang out. I guess you can to drop some curses, but then move your ass and go pull more trash in.

Zmonk! You need to drop your sanc in place, I get that, but after you drop it, move your ass and pull monsters in tighter from further away than your stationary spot.

Pretty much everyone except the WD should be moving around, pulling monsters, and repositioning.

Put in work, it'll shave minutes off your games and give you like grift levels easy if everyone works. Know your build, if you're off cycle, don't stand there. Go do something!
