DESTINY 2 - DEVELOPMENT UPDATE 1-11-18

Posted: 11 Jan 2018 04:37 PM PST

Found this on a can of Monster and it reminded of the Destiny community.

Forget Illuminated Engram changes and Masterwork Armor, this is what really matters.

Problems solved

Posted: 12 Jan 2018 09:21 AM PST

I'm actually hyped for the updates

Posted: 12 Jan 2018 09:13 AM PST

Everyone here seems to be mad, but i'm pretty excited to have a reason to play again: maybe my clan will be able to even put together a raid group again.

Just wanted to point out that these changes look like the start of recovery for D2.

D2 is what it is...

Posted: 12 Jan 2018 07:28 AM PST

Have you ever heard the term "It is what it is"? It means that regardless of your feelings, facts remain true.

Do you hate D2 right now? Then come back soon, some changes are coming...

Do you love D2 in its current state and are worried about the changes? Enjoy the game before the changes happen, they're happening.

Do you hate D2, are disappointed in the TWAB, and dreading the imminent changes? D2 might not be for you... Be honest with yourself, what can you do about it? That's right "nothing" is what you can do.

Do you love D2, and can't understand why people have been so pissed about it, or at least don't see the necessity in the salt/toxicity over it? You probably get the phrase, and choose to be content with what you have. I'm sure many in this boat have even provided some constructive criticism without being salty about it. In fact, I bet the feedback that has come from this source has been the most regarded in the Bungie studio (just a hunch). Either way, people in this boat are the kind that choose to enjoy D2, and many other aspects of their lives that they simply cant change, or understand the work needed to achieve the change.

Did you hate this post? Meh, it is what it is...

Anyone else hate the fact that loot is almost entirely given from reward packages or vendors?

Posted: 12 Jan 2018 07:53 AM PST

I'm not sure if it's just me but I'm tired of getting all the loot from reward vendors and their dumb packages. It feels super curated and not fun, like they are handing out goodie bags. I prefer the old way, where loot was primarily dropped on the defeat of an enemy or boss and occasionally on the opening of a chest. What are your opinions?

I had a ton of fun killing ads with them. Maybe for Crimson days we can throw bouquets?

I got kicked out of a raid

Posted: 12 Jan 2018 09:10 AM PST

Long story short, yesterday I was with a fire team doing a raid, nevertheless it was my first raid. The guys got super rude and kicked me out of the raid. Do raids are only for experienced people? When do we have a chance (newbies) to make a raid?

Best way to bring Bungie's attention to a consistently AFK player?

Posted: 12 Jan 2018 04:06 AM PST

I'm not going to post their profile to adhere to the subreddit's rules on witchhunting.

That said after having a player be AFK throughout an entire Strike, obviously moving occasionally to avoid the autokick, I checked their profile on Destiny Tracker and saw a wall of Strikes where they had 0 kills.

Obviously repeatedly doing the same thing for free loot.

While I spammed the in game report just to get the point across to Bungie I was wondering if anyone has any experiences of following this up, players like this ruin the experience of playing.

It's genuinely shocking how many Strikes this player has AFK'd without something being done yet.

Any suggestions?

Ikora DIY Fix

Posted: 12 Jan 2018 04:13 AM PST

Got it to work a day or two ago with all my characters and tested it with a friend of mine to see how well the theory held its ground.

Here's everything in a nutshell. Follow the steps precisely, in case you just want to get rid of flashing, because I didn't get to test this further:

1 ) complete an Osiris campaign mission meditation
2 ) just wait until transmatted to the tower
3 ) kill your guardian; any place at the tower works
4 ) take the Research tokens to Ikora
5 ) take the engram from Ikora
6 ) back away from Ikora and look away from her
7 ) check the map for flashing Ikora icon
8 ) turn toward her and she should have stopped flashing
9 ) u welcome

Notes of Interest: Do meditations in case token quantity is not enough. All meditations will work. Do the Osiris one first just in case. It is possible that you only need to get an engram from Ikora to reset her, but I didn't got to test this that far. I'm pretty sure something got twisted when Osiris campaign missions were introduced to Ikora as meditations so that is why we did them first. Death resets guardians up to a point so maybe it can be used to reset some parts of NPC response parameters as well (theory). This is why I ask you to kill your guardian before you turn those tokens to Ikora each time you get them because the tokens are linked to her, and the engram, and death could "purge" or reset them with the guardian and therefore they could work as a "cure" or a mean to revert her to a state enough for her to reset herself when the engram is picked. This is to make Ikora believe as if the Osiris campaign missions were never introduced to her so that when the engram is picked, her icon is reset and stops flashing.

Issue: Whatever she did related to campaign missions, expansion ones to be precise, got her off guard and she cannot reset for some reason. This DIY fix helps her do that. Let me know how this worked for you in the comment section and leave any further findings too in case you deviated in comparison to the list steps.

Destiny 2 Crucible Logo Poster [Shane Saxton]

Posted: 11 Jan 2018 01:59 PM PST

TWAB just blew my mind.

Posted: 11 Jan 2018 05:02 PM PST

Edit- I don't buy into the 'but X was in d1' line of thinking too much. D2 was a large redirection, an attempt at widening the appeal of the game by streamlining the core experience. Maybe it was to appeal to the plebs and casuals, maybe it's part of designing a game for millions to enjoy. Lots of risks were taken, and lots didn't pan out. Others did.

Its great to see they're not married to the changes they made. If the new loadout system irks you, or you want random rolls back, you may be SOL. (I guess there's always the casino?)

But some issues of contention are on this list, and they're good changes. I love this game, and it's dope to see it'll get the attention we think it deserves.

While the outline doesn't end world poverty or anything, it felt really good to read.

6v6, for reals?

Interesting rewards tied to endgame activities?

A rudimentary pvp ranking system?

Master work armor (in two weeks)?

RAID PERK MODS AND GHOSTS?!

Well played, bungie. It's a heck of a start.

Is the Metro Shift shader meant to be that rare?

Posted: 12 Jan 2018 08:46 AM PST

I've been playing for a couple of weeks now, have a Hunter at 25, power level 334, and recently started a 2nd char (Titan). Between both characters I have opened dozens of Bright Engrams (all earned, none bought) and only right now did I receive Metro Shift for the first time.
