[Shower Thoughts] When I die, I hope there's a "Hero's Path" mode for reviewing my life like in BotW Posted: 14 Dec 2017 03:02 PM PST I'd love to see all the places on planet earth the little green line of my life has traveled. It's been a pleasant way in BotW to remember how much I've enjoyed playing this game. It would be fun to apply it to real life. [link] [comments] |

Soooo I just started playing BotW Posted: 15 Dec 2017 08:41 AM PST And OMG its so awesome! Break of the Weapon is one of the best games I've played in ages! I've been playing Legend of Zelda games since I was about 10 starting with Ocarina of Time and this is easily one of the stars of the series. So many things to do and so many ways to do it makes for really unpredictable and emergent gameplay. Sure, I have a couple gripes with the game, its not absolutely perfect (no game really is), but overall I would say this is one of the (if not the) greatest games from the past 10 years. I'm currently moving towards my second devine beast and working on strengthening up so I can obtain the Master Sword . Working on Sora Hah temple- hardest one of the 35 shrines I've done so far and I love the challenge. [link] [comments] |
Eh, it was alright (Champions' Ballad Spoilers) Posted: 15 Dec 2017 08:34 AM PST When looking at a DLC the two biggest things I consider are 1) how much was it and 2) how does it add to the main game. For context, I beat BOTW (Complete ending) at around the sixty hour mark and when the Master Trial dropped I did the treasure hunts and combat challenge. I thought 'it was fine, not much else'. But when looking at the Hero's Path feature I saw how limited and choppy my first playthrough was so I said "You know what, I'll do the Master Mode reply without warping, force myself to see more of the world". That racked me up to 190 hours total. So this already justified the cost of the season pass as far as I was concerned going into this. Nintendo was upfront about the 1st DLC being a teaser and insisted the 2nd was going to be the expansion proper, needing to take place after beating the main quest including a full dungeon. So when the DLC was just a battery of scavenger hunts, shrines, boss challenges and the weak rehash of each divine beast as the 'dungeon'. The whole experience was a mixed bag. I love the One Hit challenge as a proper sneak section, and the boss run using champion gear added a much needed difficulty curve (that the master sword kills for late game fights). Kass felt like a great companion, unlike Shiek who would show up and be like "okay, bye!" [Small tangent, that always botherd me how Shiek was supposed to be a freedom fighter against Ganon and everyone said he/she was a great warrior but didn't do jack shit until the final boss fight, but I digress]. Kass was honestly was just a bard so there all the bromance and none of the dissonance. Regardless of whether you finished his side quests in the main game, he still plays it like he doesn't know who you are as to not guilt you about the calaminty, and does his best to help you. Fucking Kass man, great vehicle for explaining stories Link wasn't there to remember. I didn't like the monument riddles, how tedious some of the shrines felt, and the repletion began to grind on my patience. While I appreciated the absurdity of the shine of resurrection flying into the sky so we can fight a giant cloning monk to win a dirt bike (which is held to the same reverence as the giant robot cannons in the hub menu) I felt little motivation to use it. Unlike the master trial DLC where some of the new boons can be earned along the way, this needed to be completed after saving all 4 beasts. The bike equates to unlocking an alternate horse skin after all said and do, just a post-game signifier. So even if I go for round three I can't get any champion + powers unless I want to re-treck old ground. So now sitting at 200 hours, I think I'm done. Ultimately this expansion was just fine. I enjoyed enough where I don't feel like my money was wasted, but it didn't gel enough with the main game to help integrate some of the more tedious parts. If Nintendo decides to do more DLC, I hope that either 1) the bonus content can be accessed at any time, or 2) it is a pocket or satellite section separate from the main game entirely. Making The Champions Ballad a compressed experience that retreads old ground took away a lot of what made the game fun in the first place. Some of this DLC feels like a victory lap for Breath of the Wild, the rest just felt clunky and bloated. [link] [comments] |

Convenient, good, or just cool looking armor mix matches? Posted: 15 Dec 2017 05:27 AM PST Trying to get a feel for what armor i want to wear when exploring. Not many costume posts to look at as far as gear and dye costume fun. Climber sounds good but i always have enough to get where i want. How fast is sheika night running? The elemental armors are good of course but id really only need one piece at a time. Feel free to mix in DLC armors because i might grab the expansion pass. [link] [comments] |
who took the champion's photo? Posted: 14 Dec 2017 07:13 PM PST I beat the dlc pack 2, and its driving me insane that i cant place the voice of the character that was taking the photo with the Sheika slate. does anyone here know? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Dec 2017 08:13 PM PST For me, (1) not taking five years, by leveraging the BotW engine and assets, and (2) some kind of Majora's Mask or Link's Awakening remake and/or sequel. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Dec 2017 02:05 AM PST In the final cutscene shown by Kass in the Champions Ballad DLC, as Revali takes the Sheikah Slate from Zelda there is a bird statue shown in the background, exactly like the save point ones from Skyward Sword. Thought this was pretty cool reference! May have some timeline implications? [link] [comments] |
