Xbox One release megathread

Playerunknown's Battlegrounds releases for Xbox One on December 12! (Today or tomorrow, depending on your location)

Microsoft link

PLAYERUNKNOWN on Twitter:

So... @PUBATTLEGROUNDS arrives on @Xbox GP tomorrow! I really never thought I would get to say that when I started this 5 years ago. Thank you to everyone that's supported #BattleRoyale over the past 5 years. You've all made this genre what it is today! GG WP everyone <3

For those of you who are in-game, or watching streams, how is it? Is the performance playable? How about the controller setup and UI? Is the game just as fun as on PC?

Share any and all thoughts you have about the console release of PUBG here!

We have considered adding an Xbox flair for the Subreddit, but will not be doing so for the time being so as not to actively divide the community. We want console players to feel just as welcome here as PC players, and ask you to treat content about the console version as you would if it were for the PC.

We will be removing comments which mock or belittle the console version of the game or its players and may temporarily ban users who post little more than these kinds of comments.

We won't be removing Xbox threads in favour of this one, but will try to collate announcements and some popular posts here:

Players, the test servers will stay open until PC 1.0 comes out on live servers! The transition to Phase 2 will be relatively seamless and there won't be any downtime today. There will be maintenance periods to deploy patches as needed. We highly appreciate all your help.

DEAR PC Folks, Let me apologize now.

Posted: 11 Dec 2017 08:33 AM PST

Here in just a few hours...me and my herd of fellow console peasants will finally be able to play a game that we have enviously watched you enjoy for months. as i'm sure you can understand...we are pretty damn excited about it!

So i think, while you enjoy the calm before the storm, i should give a heartfelt "thank you" for the time you have and will put in to help make this game what is (and will become).

and let me apologize now for how much we are probably going to tear shit up around here for the next few days/weeks. Your community is mere moments away from getting an injection of MILLIONS of gamers…and I know not all PC peeps like us consolers. I know my kind can be hard to deal with sometimes. Asking the same question 500000 times. Posting shitty memes (and reposting it 500000 times). Completely over reacting to literally every little thing ever. Ect. But, yo, the vast majority of us really are good people. It's just that small percentage (that is still THOUSANDS of gamers) can be…difficult.

But I promise…we will also bring hilarity, stupidity, and lots of love.

PSA: The killcam is wonky. They aren't cheating or hacking. Example inside.

Posted: 10 Dec 2017 10:33 PM PST

Been seeing dozens of posts of "hackers", which all end up being people posting killcams of people "locking onto heads" or "obviously aimbotting" or "have a recoil script". This is a PSA: No they aren't. Killcams are wonky. Here's an example.

Killcam

Actual Perspective

The way killcams work, they don't actually show you your enemies perspective. Instead, your game saves positining and command data and recreates the play on your PC. That means sometimes things don't line up completely and the killcams look wonky and people look like they are cheating. This is even more prevalent when one of the players has a high ping. Here's an example of the killcam showing something different every loop: This is a result of the physics acting a tiny bit different each time - effectively showcasing how the game re-creates what happened on your PC instead of showing your enemies perspective directly.

More examples of different spectator glitches 1 2 3

None of these are aimbot or hacks. And you can't tell if they have a recoil script from the replay, either, because most of the time it just shows them shooting straight even if it's bouncing all over the place in their view.

How about a couple rivers going through the map to give the map some variety and give the jet ski more use?

We thought it was a map spawn. Buddy jumped up and it had an M24 in it!

I love Miramar and here's why

Posted: 11 Dec 2017 10:11 AM PST

I'm seeing huge amounts of criticism on here, it seems like most people think the new map is too slow and too big. I thought I would put it out there that me and my friends love this map and the new playstyle it encourages. Most people are used to Erangel, where no matter the drop spot there's people nearby, and no matter where you run there's people nearby to fight. On Miramar, this isn't the case meaning a few things:

  • Crates are easier to get
  • Easier to loot early game
  • Easier to get a vehicle

Now the drawback is that the early game feels slower. But there's a simple solution to this - rather than on Erangel where the primary playstyle is quite defensive, you need to be very aggressive. If you head in the direction of every gunshot you hear and are smart about positioning around people, you can get a lot of action and a lot of kills midgame. It just requires a shift in paradigm.

Anyway, that's my two cents. Thought I'd throw it out there.

With the additions of the gun-specific scopes, we need a firing range more than ever

Posted: 10 Dec 2017 06:39 PM PST

Please spend a week or two setting up a training map, with targets at different distances so we can practice using the various scope markings! This would be so helpful, especially now that all the guns have different scope markings for the same scope.

The new map is basically as big as an entire singleplayer game

Posted: 10 Dec 2017 09:58 PM PST

I gotta give Credit to Bluehole for this one. A lot of love and work went into the design of this map. It looks great and its huge, as huge as you could basically put an entire RPG game on it. Rubberbanding is still a huge issue but im sure full release will fix this.

Regardless theres very little action and until the 3rd circle 8/10 games I dont even see or hear anything.

Could you please make the next map smaller so we get all 3 types of variety?
