Tiny suggestion for Overwatch League: Make a team's sprays their logo

Posted: 11 Dec 2017 11:37 AM PST

Title says most of it. Watching OWL matches, with how awesome the team skins are, everyone doing the default spray feels super flat. I think making the team's sprays their logos makes an immense amount of sense on every level. I'd love to see a player make a huge play and celebrate by tagging their team logo around, or a defending team painting up the objective with their team logo. Not to mention it doesn't require any new assets or anything like that.

It would be pretty neat to get a Suit and Tie event for all of the heroes.

Posted: 11 Dec 2017 09:53 AM PST

As the title says, having a "Ball" or "Formal" event, with possibly a fancy mansion map, with a suit and tie skin for all of the characters would be pretty neat. There could be a mansion, and an outdoor gazebo with lights, and a courtyard. Plus all of the heroes could wear what they would wear to a ball, and it could match their personality very well. Thoughts on that actually happening?

Edit: Added a few more details.

Symmetra Main, Several Bans, I don't know what more I can do to reform

Posted: 11 Dec 2017 04:30 AM PST

I'm sorry for putting this on the main Overwatch reddit but I don't really know where else to turn at this point.

I spent a bit of time yesterday on the various Blizzard support channels trying to get more information about my fourth account ban on Overwatch. My current ban is two weeks, my next ban, when it happens, will be for one month.

So none of us are clear on Blizzards real stance on one-tricking. Some articles suggest if you appeal you will be unbanned, some suggest not. Stevo has had only one of his four one trick bans overturned. All of mine have been upheld, which leads me to believe that you can be banned for both one tricking and maining a character.

I have asked repeatedly if I can have more information as to what I'm doing that could be causing this but I am told that they can't give any further information due to privacy issues (I assume of the people who reported me) The official reason is Disruptive Gameplay.

I'm ashamed to say that initially in my Overwatch career, I would sometimes not try my best if the game was a complete failure, if our team was being spawn camped I would see little point in trying but after my second ban I made it a point to try my best in every game so that I could appeal and be sure that I hadn't done anything wrong, I would always leave the spawn and return to the fight even if the game was 'pointless' and try to atleast do something productive. After my third ban a few weeks ago I made it a point to always switch if someone asked me to.

It seems it doesn't have any effect. I am still being mass reported because my playtime shows over 600hrs on Symmetra, so even if I switch, I am a one trick because my profile defines me as one. I have people who notice this playtime stat and report me at the beginning of games often. People will say in chat "Report the one trick, get him banned", often the enemy team will agree to help out with this so I can get up to 11 reports from a single game. On the off-chance I don't get instantly reported, If I play Sym for one round and it doesn't go well or i'm being countered and I switch off to Mercy for example, I am still reported while we wait for the second match to start so switching makes no difference.

At this point it feels like I am being targeted because i'm not very good. I'm not very good on Sym to be honest but I enjoy her style, and I'm not very good on other heroes and often when I switch off to something that isn't a healer or tank, people will complain about whatever I switch to... It's just exhausting being a scapegoat for any games that don't go well, i.e. this match is a total disaster, the enemy team is simply better, and it's all the Symmetra one-tricks fault even though I switched to Mercy after the first few minutes, even if people have gone silent in chat and are no longer screaming at me, they have already reported me and they can't take that back if they change their mind.

This is just my controversial opinion here, but it feels almost like this is also a good way for Blizzard to encourage buying another account to play on. They use the automated report system to reduce the amount of money they need to invest into personnel they need to track bad behavior, and they gain money in these users that get banned and turn to Smurf accounts. There is really no downside for them other than the bad publicity, of which there is very little because it seems a large portion of the community feels that one tricking or maining a character is a problem rather than a benefit. They mitigate the bad publicity by unbanning certain people i.e. Fuey500, because he has a somewhat large following and is a really nice guy but people who are nobodies like me get left in the dirt.

I'm really frustrated by this, I've played WoW since Vanilla, the support staff are always friendly, helpful and do anything they can to sort out any issues I've ever had in the past, but with this, they just tell me 'we have evidence and we're upholding our decision', I don't know what that evidence is and so I don't know what more I can do to stop this.

I'm not perfect, there are inconsistencies... and these inconsistencies lead to my bans being upheld. I.e. if you don't play absolutely perfectly in every game, that leads to evidence on your account that suggests you are not trying your best and your appeal will fail. I hope people appreciate that I have my limits like the rest of you, and sometimes I find it difficult to play on after being called a one trick faggot in voice chat, I think I also afk'd in a game to answer the door for a delivery and returned 30secs later...

I just feel that this system is so easy to abuse, it provides people a feeling of satisfaction to pick someone and blame them for the loss, it provides a way for people to target one tricks / people who main, and get them banned, even if they are trying their best or switching when asked and trying their best to co-operate. I know that in the past week at least 4 other high ranking Symmetra Mains were banned.

With the current system, if you throw the occasional game a few times a week, you probably won't have anything happen to you because you won't meet the requirements of the automated system. I feel like people who are actually being toxic are not being punished while people who are trying their best, regardless of what you think of mainers/one tricks, are.

Gonna close this out by saying I agree with the things Stevo has mentioned on his mega-thread on the forums - https://us.battle.net/forums/en/overwatch/topic/20759447616?page=1 - which has 446 upvotes, and I feel that this seems to only effect people who play Symmetra, Sombra and Torbjorn so perhaps something could be done to alter these characters and bring them into line with the Meta, rather than punishing the people who choose to play those characters, but also feel forced into switching to the 'meta' when asked.

Thanks for anyone who takes the time to read all my ramblings, or vote or comment on this thread. I appreciate all your opinions and I hope that anyone who disagrees with me, we can settle it in ranked when I get unbanned on Boxing day! XD Wishing all of you a Merry Christmas

'Twas the night before the Christmas event (Year 2)

Posted: 11 Dec 2017 06:45 PM PST

T'was the night before the Christmas event and all thro' the sub,

Not a poster was stirring, not even an angry pub;

The Jeff shrines were raised, with delicate care,

In hopes that Papa Kaplan's Lootboxes where near;

The Official Forum users were all snug in their bed's,

While dreams of hooks and scatter arrows fueled a fire in their heads.

And when Fan Content and Humor posts hit their cap,

They slowly settled down, for a much needed nap-

When on Blizzard's Russian twitter arose such a clatter,

Every Overwatch redditor woke up to see what's the matter.

Hopping onto twitter, they moved in a flash,

Their insanely quick reaction time left me feeling abash.

The Mods on the test of these new fallen posts,

Spawned even more hype and excitement below;

When, what my wondering eyes should appear,

But a massive hype sleigh, pulled by 8 rapidly blinking reindeer;

Atop the huge the sleigh sat a small jolly man,

Who else could it be, but lord Jeff Kaplan?

More rapid than eagles his buffs and nerfs came,

He took extra care to call them each by name:

"Buff Torbjörn! Buff Doomfist, Buff Bastion and Winston!"

"Nerf Mercy! Nerf Roadhog????? Nerf Soldier! and D.VA!"

To the top of the Official Site, now to scale Kotaku's wall,

To the top of Overwatch new, now to the top of /r/all!;

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,

When the hype-deer meet an obstacle, mount to the sky!

So to the top of /r/gaming the good news flew,

With a crate full of skins, and highlight intros too!

And then in a twinkling I heard on my roof,

The prancing and pawing of each little hoof;

As I drew my credit card, sighed and turned around,

Down the great chimney, Jeff Kaplan came with a bound.

He was dressed in an hoodie with Overwatch colors,

Majestic clothing that had cost many dollars;

A bundle of heavy lootboxes were slung on his back,

But not a pinch of joy did his countenance lack;

His eyes-how they twinkled! His dimples: how merry,

His glasses hid nothing after a fine reindeer ferry;

At the very sight of him my eyes lit up with light,

As if I had just solo-clutched in a long overtime fight;

"Jeff!" I called. "I know you've been stuck in the snow!"

"But would it kill you to go back and get a gold Hanzo bow?"

After an hour of begging Tigole met my demands,

And came back with my request snug in his hands;

With my request fulfilled he turned to the stockings,

Gave me enough loot boxes for a Muselk unboxing;

A twinkle in his eye, and wink that was clear,

And then he was gone as swiftly as he'd appeared;

Every Overwatch subreddit content with their gifts,

Skins and brawls and new meta shifts;

News channels churned content all mad as a hatter,

Mei is a tank, and Rank Doesn't Matter;

Stories were swapped, and mischief was managed,

About heroes needing heals, and surprising amounts of damage;

A timeless memory I'd treasure for years,

This memory of joy, lootboxes and cheer!

Once a minute had passed since this Mythical sight,

I returned to the comfort of the quiet night;

A silence in the darkness 'til I heard a deep booming scream

"Hey guys it's Jeff from the Overwatch team."

Give us a Quick play coin system like in competitive

Posted: 11 Dec 2017 06:03 AM PST

So not everyone play comp right. So most of us are missing out on the golden weapons .so isn't it better if they make a reward system for quick play as well. Like a different color weapon system. And you earn coins just like you do in comp.

That way people who don't play comp can enjoy their time spent on quick play. Like Qp coins and you get silver guns or something.
