Showerthought: McCrees ult timer should be a clock.

This has probably already been suggested but I think it would be hilarious.

"Mcree what's your ult at"

"Ughhh. It's 9:30?"

Edit: I was in the bathroom at work when I posted this, so thanks for getting my literal shitpost to the front page!

Reminder: Please do not stress yourself out with Overwatch, and please remember to take a break every now and then.

Posted: 15 Dec 2017 12:55 PM PST

Whether you're a normal player, an OWL member, a tryhard, or an experienced player, please remember that you can and probably should take a break from playing Overwatch every now and then.

For everyone it's different. I've seen people who play the game for 12 hours straight, especially those in the Overwatch League, and stuff like that is both physically and mentally tolling. Playing a game for longer does not mean you're going to improve any quicker. Playing for a long time can actually make improving skills take longer than if you took breaks inbetween.

I'm not saying you have to go read a book or anything like that, but even if it's just playing a different game, don't play Overwatch in extremely long sessions at a time. Overwatch can be a fun game, but if it's the only game you're playing, it can REALLY start to stress you out.

Remember, too much of anything is not good for you at all.

When you're Mei on Yeti Hunt, PLEASE split up after Winston has 3 meats!

Posted: 15 Dec 2017 07:26 AM PST

This will be a long post, I tried to make it interesting but there's a tl;dr that you can read and some supplemental bold info. This could be old news but I didn't see a thread about this after a quick sub search

I know I'm late to the party (college finals suck), but I got to play the Winter event, and more specifically Yeti Hunt, for the first time last night. I played probably 50 matches even though there is such a small XP gain and I rarely play arcade modes. One thing people don't realize, and I didn't see anything on this sub about it, is how the Meis should organize. The game is a lot more fun for both the yeti and the hunters when you play it properly.

  • When the yeti has zero, one or two meats, the Meis should be in a group, or at least in groups of 2 and 3 to corner Winston.

  • When the yeti gets his THIRD meat, you team should SPLIT UP and HIDE!

Unless Winston has like 1/20 health (and even then depending on your positioning/cooldowns and where the nearest meat is), you need to split up and hide in side rooms and behind the buildings, out of sight of Winston and make sure you have your ice block off cooldown and your wall active (pressed E but not placed) as a last resort. Your team has 5 lives among all of you and if there are three meis trying to stop Winston from the 4th meat, he is going to get the meat and at least two of you will be killed (it takes 2 hits to kill you, if you iceblock after the first he can still easily kill you in five seconds).

A lot of people have complained that the yeti is too OP, but you need to realize that this is just like a regular comp (or serious QP) match, you need to work as a team. You need to stay in groups so Winston can't pick you off, and have enough time to splinter when Winston is going to inevitably rage on you, which is right after the third meat.

Just in case anyone doubts this, I played close to 50 games last night, about equal Hunter and Yeti games.

  • In the Yeti games I won about 70% of games because the other team followed me to the 4th meat (I don't play Winston much, either; I hope someone here was in the game where I tried to jump to the meat on the bridge and missed 6 times haha).

  • In the Hunter games I started every game over VC with "Okay guys, make sure that when Yeti gets his third meat, you split up and hide. If three or four of you follow him to the meat, I can guarantee that at least two of you will die." and repeated this every time Winston got his third meat. Obviously not everyone listened to me, but I would guess that even with the games nobody listened to me (we only won 1 game where the hunters followed the Winston to the fourth meat, and that Winston was kind of bad), the Mei team won about 65-70% of the time.

Here is a video of why this is important, by yours truly.

tl;dr to all you who think yeti is OP, make sure you know when to group up and when to split up. It's really annoying to have to tell my team how to organize best (and hope they are listening) every game.

Edit: Wow, went offline for a couple of hours and this blew up (at least by my standards). It's great that people are reading this; I hope to be able to reply soon after a flight here.
