Posted: 08 Dec 2017 06:19 AM PST This idea got popular on r/minecraftsuggestions so i thought I'd share it with the larger community. When a cake is crafted with a potion, the cake will give you an "Cake of Swiftness, Poison, etc" that applies the effect when eaten. Potion cakes have no visual differences from a normal cake or each other. No differently colored icing or sprinkles so its completely indistinguishable from a normal cake or one that applies a different effect. This makes the cake's effects a mystery to a player until they eat it. Bamboozle your friends and make them skeptic by leaving them a questionable gift. However eating the cake will not give you the same duration as drinking the potion from the bottle would! Thats way too OP. It gives you the same duration as a tipped arrow which i believe is only 3 seconds or so. [link] [comments]
Casual Minecraft player here to say something I’ve wanted to simply mention for a long, long time. Posted: 08 Dec 2017 02:44 AM PST I've enjoyed playing Minecraft, and it's been such a wonderful experience whether on console or PC. Never have been massive into it and I haven't ever had the creative gene, but the leisure and the calmness I get playing the game is second to none. That said, I simply wanted to reach out and offer that C418's work on the soundtrack will stay with me for the rest of time. It is unbelievable how well the man did putting that music together and I have honestly spent more time leisurely listening to both Alpha and Beta than I have actually playing Minecraft. Under any circumstance, I love the soundtrack so damn much. Whether it's Sweden, Danny, Biome Fest or anything else, it's such a nostalgic and feel-good soundtrack. Well done, my friend. Well done. So apparently Mojang has ran out of gift codes for Minecraft for Windows 10 Posted: 08 Dec 2017 07:24 AM PST There's been complete radio silence on this so I feel the need to talk about it here Yesterday I felt a sudden urge to try and get back into Minecraft after several years of not playing it. So, naturally, I tried to download Minecraft for Windows 10 (which is now part of the Bedrock Edition) on Mojang's website, as I owned the Java Edition and so I qualified for the free code. I got an error message. It said this. "Error! It looks like we've temporarily run out of gift codes for Minecraft for Windows 10. Don't worry though, more codes should be on their way. Please check back later!" I'm not the only one suffering from this problem, either. It's honestly amazing that Mojang could run out of gift codes now, of all times, and not a second earlier. I can't find any record of this happening before. Either way, no word on when exactly they're going to get more codes. It baffles me that I could be this unlucky, but whatever. [link] [comments]

Piston controversy from a developer's perspective Posted: 08 Dec 2017 07:34 AM PST I have been following the outrage regarding single-tick sticky piston behaviour and the most 'popular' opinion is that the piston behaviour should be unchanged. It's clear, that the behaviour was not indended and indeed is an oversight by the developers. A very long period of time so far has been spent on redoing the inner workings of Minecraft while not breaking anything and that means staying to the original indended mechanics as close as possible while fixing all inconsistencies (pistons being one of them). It would make a lot more sense to have an 'inertia piston' that drops blocks if it's retracted in a specified number of ticks (doesn't even have to be one tick), or one controlled by NBT tags, etc. Keeping bugs just because they are useful is like saying 'stop developing at all, since it was fine in Beta 1.2_01'. It's time to clean up and make a solid base game that can then afterwards be improved upon. If we let the devs do their thing, then at a later time they could make a consistent piston that does what people want it to do, or even something better. [link] [comments]

Posted: 08 Dec 2017 12:08 PM PST It seems that every time that I start a new survival world, I am full of ideas of what I want to do. Whether they be large farms, towns, or simply huge builds in general, I always start to not want to build them anymore, and with that, all of my survival worlds tend to die after only about 10 hours. Better Together update for Consoles Posted: 08 Dec 2017 10:32 AM PST I'm not going to lie. I was excited for the better together update. Now that it is officially out and I am reading the details, I am seeing that the collaborative aspects are only for the sponsored servers for console and PC cross play. You cannot host your own persistent server for consoles to direct connect. I really hope this changes because this was one of the things I was really looking forward to. [link] [comments] |
