Posted: 27 Dec 2017 12:33 PM PST Hey, as the title says im offering coaching sessions or perhaps even just advice to anyone that is interested...even simple questions if that's all you need. Ill be honest I'm not very experienced in this department but want to give it ago. Either Pm me or add me on steam: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198068400759/ [link] [comments] |
I need to re-learn to hardlane Posted: 27 Dec 2017 08:03 PM PST I main hardlane and I'm hating it right now. I keep feeling useless, facing lanes that fully deny my xp, and despite getting 4K in group, i lost 500MMR solo all the way down to 2.8K and I feel like giving up alltogether. So please, tell me how you win a hardlane, in solo games with archons where not dying is far from enough. (What I'm saying isn't 'oh archons they suck', but at this mmr people cannot carry consistently). I main brew but I just felt like shit when his Drunke' Haze went from 8sec cd from 14. I was thinking about going back to clock but I feel like I'm still gonna get deny all the xp and feel like shit. [link] [comments] |
How much damage do illusions do? Posted: 27 Dec 2017 07:57 PM PST What % of an autoattack does an illusion do? What about a crit? If you see the red number pop up, what % of that is done as damage? [link] [comments] |
A couple of general WK questions Posted: 27 Dec 2017 06:00 AM PST 1) Is he a situational pick or something that I can freely lock-in early in the picking phase? I'm asking this because I often put him in the Jugg/Lifestealer/Luna category of "carries that can be first picked without too much problems", but he's slightly more counterable if I'm specifically against AM/PL. Although since the 7.07 changes that shifted his 0-mana ult talent down to 20, I guess that makes him a bit harder to deal with? Simply put, on a scale of Jugg (ez first pick material) to Huskar (highly situational) how good/bad is it to pick WK early? 2) How do I go about itemizing him? I usually go Treads>Armlet>Blink and then build from there whatever is needed. But after looking through a bunch of high level games, I see a bunch of other items that are relatively common - Radiance - when do I get it? I know it accelerates farm a lot and helps late game scaling. If I'm against a Spec/AM/TB I don't think i want to take the game late, so do i make this when i'm against a team that wants to push early? Doesn't that make it a greedy choice? Does WK even go late game that well? Blademail - Another really common item in high level games, though I'm not sure where does it fit in. As I said, I generally go Armlet>Blink and I feel having a Blademail would delay other big late game items like AC/Heart/BKB. Is it really core on WK? If not, are there any specific heroes I would want to build a BM against? Desolator - I suppose I can get this when I'm ahead, but I have the same question as above - after Armlet/Blink why should I stop for a Deso when I can get an AC which allows me to end games earlier much more easily? Midas - Pretty much a yes/no question, this one - if I'm against AM/PL is it worth it to get Midas to get my lv20 faster? If not, what items can I get to deal with those heroes (I generally think BKB and Mjollnir for AM and PL respectively but idk) 3) How cheesy is support WK? I'm talking about those rare situations when someone on my team would last pick a hard carry and steal my lane, can I pretend to be a mini Venge (with my stun + lifesteal aura, arcanes>medallion>vlads>aghs idk) and expect to win? edit just realized this is a massive wall of text, but even if someone can help with a few of these questions it'd be great :D [link] [comments] |

How do dual lanes work with supports with weak harass? (Lion, Slardar) Posted: 27 Dec 2017 06:37 AM PST It's a problem I encounter most often with Lion and Slardar, Venge sometimes. I play at around 1.6k MMR. With Lion it feels like I just have to pray for a lane with weak harass. It's unlikely that I can pull at my MMR since the opposing dual lanes usually just keep clearing the waves. I usually can't match harass either, like say what do I do against OOV sniper with ogre in lane. I feel like I can't leave the lane to early either, but I don't try to leave too often, it's hard to gank mid for me since our mids usually don't try to pull the wave to our tower and will just keep pushing. Leaving also leaves my carry vulnerable since I've leached XP off of the lane by the time I usually do, easiest for me to gank is the offlane usually. Should I just buy more regen? Also specifically with Venge I feel mana starved all the time, Q seems good for kills if I can get them but W seems better for harass, although it'll push the wave. Am I right? Any help is appreciated. Thanks [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Dec 2017 03:28 PM PST Let's say you're in the scenario where you get a kill by diving in but will mostly die yourself. Yes or no for offlaner/sup/carry/roamer? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Dec 2017 01:28 AM PST Let's say I already pick razor/bloodseeker/death prophet/lina/templar assassins. And on the strategy screen, I already put my hero avatar on mid during strategy phase. Then this guy pick his hero late. And when I go mid, he flame me. Afterwards I go to safelane to farm but there is a core there, so both of us fighting to get last hits. Eventually I go jungle. I ended up being underleveled and can't farm effectively because of this. I like to play support because when I try carry, sh*t like this always happened. In this situation, what should I do? Posted: 27 Dec 2017 02:32 AM PST So me and my 4 other friends are coming from League of Legends and we wanna play dota 2. What are some beginner friendly team comps and where should everyone go since apparently it's not the same as league where their are defined roles . [link] [comments] |
How to start learning Invoker? Posted: 27 Dec 2017 11:09 AM PST I am 3k (3k solo/3,5k party/Legend 2) player and I have no idea how to learn to play Invoker. When I usually try a new hero I look up how people play it, item/skills/talents builds on dotabuff then just go and play. I usually suck for the first 3-5 games but then I get the hang of it and start feeling like I can contribute to the game with my new hero. The most important thing for me is to find something about the hero that I am able to do even if I suck at the hero. But if I manage to do that one thing I don't feel like completely useless shit and can keep playing and eventually become better. Like, kunkka for example. He has pretty high skill cap but as long as you are able x-mark single enemy into ship, you are doing something useful and at my bracket it's often enough to win a teamfight and eventually the game. Invoker is a whole different story. Right now I have 58 games on him with 22.41% winrate which is quite depressing. I know 58 games isn't much at all but with most heroes I feel like I somewhat know how to play a hero in 3-5 games, and here I am still completely clueless. The fact that Invoker is mostly played mid and mid is very important lane doesn't help because once I inevitably lose it, there's no coming back because, well, I have no idea how to. I am very discouraged from playing him because every game is a complete disaster and I don't want to ruin a game for other people, but then how do I become better? Here is my dotabuff just in case it's in any way relevant. [link] [comments] |
When one lane gets fed, how do I win the game? Posted: 27 Dec 2017 10:51 AM PST Let's think that our mid feeds enemy mid. Our mid is many levels behind and can do nothing. I'm playing either offlane or sololane and doing well, but not getting many kills because the enemy on my lane plays well but not well enough to kill me. The enemy gets the gold advantage and slowly pushes our towers. What should I do as core at this situation? I know dying is probably the worst thing and I need farm, but I can't get any because I'll get ganked soon after I start laning or jungling. Switching lanes doesn't work since they usually pushed atleast T1 towers at this point and we don't have much space. Should creating space be my first prioritity? Or just trying to get every gold and xp I can? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Dec 2017 02:02 PM PST I've been out of the game for a while now. I haven't played in over two months, and like 6 games in the month before that. I haven't kept up much with the pro scene either. Been thinking about playing a few games here and there, and I was wondering what's good in this patch right now? Both in terms of heroes and team comps. I usually played the three spirit bros, and other high mobility (usually mid) heroes, but sometimes choose to play support. Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Need parties for practice midlane Posted: 27 Dec 2017 07:28 AM PST The title says it all, normally i play carries, occasionally change to roaming support But recently i tale interest in midlane since its practically can solo carried game while carry often depends on their teammate, and in archon its like gambling, I always nervous but if i partied with friends i become calm because i know they wont insult me for fail while i learn, and the weight also is loght more than solo Recently they didnt play that much anymore and i want to improve, can anybody eant queue with me? Its also great if you experienced midp player so you can teach me, Here is my dotabuff https://www.dotabuff.com/players/147966184 [link] [comments] |
I don't understand how to KotL. Posted: 27 Dec 2017 01:00 AM PST Seriously, i still have no idea how to play him, super squishy with very low strength, his stun is even more unreliable than Cold Feet, his nuke is just too hard to land properly, and his core item is Aghanim? It's so expensive to get and a support barely have time and space to farm. [link] [comments] |
4-1-1 No-Blink Ursa: Idiotic Or Viable? Posted: 26 Dec 2017 08:14 PM PST My thesis is that this approach to Ursa is more consistent and flexible. This is an idea I had a few years ago, but didn't explore much. Recently, videos by BSJ and Erick Wright affirm some of these ideas and have me revisiting it. If you think this is a horrible strategy, that's cool, and I'd like to know why you think so. The general idea is to to max Q by 7, get some mana regen ASAP, and then shore up movespeed. Today this looks something like Phase Boots -> Spirit Vessel -> SNY, taking the regen talent at level 10. This lets you spam your spells freely while zipping around the map at 500ms and farming very quickly. In a recent coaching video, BSJ said that he doesn't mind putting off blink dagger because it boxes you in. It's certainly a nice power spike, but you are then obligated to find pickoffs immediately. Sometimes you succeed and snowball, but I had many games where this didn't work out and it just burned a hole in my pocket. Failed attempts are costly and can send you back to base. The traditional approach doesn't really solve the two major problems I always had with the hero: running out of mana and getting kited. I had previously considered shoring up these weaknesses with Eul's, but Wright's suggestion of Spirit Vessel is objectively better. It provides many useful benefits in addition to movespeed and mana regen. You can still hunt for kills and burst down targets very quickly. But you also don't have to blow your load in doing so. I have found that sustainability lets me do whatever comes naturally on the map, whether that be finding more kills or farming. And I can do so faster, more efficiently. Obviously Morbid Mask is great to have for early Rosh, and I like to do that in between Vessel and Yasha. I'm undecided on when/how to upgrade it though. I still like the typical pickups such as BKB/Deso/Abbysal for followup items. Anyway, I'm curious to see what others think about this. According to Dotabuff, almost nobody is maxing Q first or buying Euls or Vessel. [link] [comments] |

Current patch Enchantress tips? Posted: 27 Dec 2017 05:14 AM PST Been loving playing Ench recently, not a hero I'm particularly gifted with or anything but one I quite enjoy, with the jungle being so bad at the moment is she still played best as a ganking jungler? [link] [comments] |
Storm Spirit early and mid game decisions Posted: 27 Dec 2017 12:29 AM PST As the title says, I'm really lost or confused about how to play Storm in this range time. Idk if I have to gank more in early game or farm the Bloodstone(maybe another item could be better). If you check the last 2 Storm games what can I improve there? Decisions in don't be part of some tf, guess was wrong. [link] [comments] |
Attacke Move or Smart Attack Move? Posted: 27 Dec 2017 01:54 AM PST Which one do you prefer and why? Do ppl use Smart Attack move at all? I was thinking if you're Terrorblade standing in your jungle and you want to send your illusions to farm the lane creeps: will your illusions attack all jungle camps in their way? What kind of attack move do you use for such heroes which send around illusions to farm? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Dec 2017 12:21 AM PST Hey, I'm relatively new to DOTA (Just hit 300 hours), and I've been trying to improve significantly lately. Since a large number of my games were very early and involved little game knowledge, I've had a pretty low win-rate, but I've elevated that significantly (Raised my career win rate something like 8% since 7.07 came out). But as I was poking around Opendota, I noticed I have a massive gap between dire and radiant winrates (37.2% on Dire, 53.3 on Radiant). I thought maybe this was something silly about starting, but I checked and just in the games I've played since 7.07 came out (The majority of which are after I got back into watching DOTA videos, putting myself in the right mindset for ranked games, etc.), I still have a 41% winrate on dire side, and a 60% winrate on radiant. That's huge. What the hell is going on? Are there common pitfalls new players make that causes underperformance on dire? Is Radiant just OP in this patch? What can I do to elevate my dire-side performance? [link] [comments] |
