I feel bad for 343i and am excited for Halo 6.

Posted: 11 Dec 2017 05:34 PM PST

343's decision making, mechanics, and economic model were on point for Halo 5, but their campaign/story telling came up short. The game looks and plays fantastically well. They didn't compromise the multiplayer experience by making it pay to win. The community wasn't fragmented by paid DLC and they gave us a ton of content after launch. Yes, some of that content should have been included at launch. At least they didn't try to charge us for it and, when we got it, it was well done. There were definitely some learning experiences along the way, but this model demonstrates to me that the core of halo has people that are making consumer friendly decisions. This all makes me very excited for Halo 6 when it comes out.

"PSA: A Halo 5 rotational playlist refresh is currently planned for this Thursday which means just a few more days to get your fill of Shotty Snipers before it takes another short break (it'll be back)."

If classic halo was to return, name 5 things that you would want to carry over from Halo 4 or Halo 5

Posted: 11 Dec 2017 09:27 AM PST

Things carried over must be somewhat significant, no stupid shit like "I'd carry over the hitmarkers"

Edit: 5 things seems like a bit much, 1 thing will suffice.

Get rid of the one flying vehicle maps.

Posted: 11 Dec 2017 09:38 PM PST

Altar and risen are always decided by whoever gets into the wasp or the banshee first. It doesn't matter if you're a good sniper of that fucking power vehicle decides to nuke you.

What's especially painful is that in halo 3 sandtrap( the map altar is based on) had two flying vehicles. One to counter the other.

Furthermore after playing about twenty BTB on altar and risen I noticed that the terrain lends to the red team being able to get the vehicles first.

The worst part is there is no counter for the banshee on altar. The hydra is in the red spawn, the plasma pistol doesn't have the range, and good luck hitting the most agile vehicle in the game with the slow ass spartan laser.

Hey 343 instead of nerfing all the weapons how about you learn some map design. ( oh wait forgers made all the BTB maps) Do it like dispelled with two vehicle. If you feel like you can't redesign old maps, add more instead having only six maps on cycle. ( yes there are more but they either don't come up often or at all.)

TLDR: the team (usually red) that gets the flying vehicle first on BTB maps wins 9/10.

Am I missing the joke in Halo Reach's Grifball?

Posted: 11 Dec 2017 08:37 AM PST

Played Reach yesterday for the first time in years and I decided to give Grifball a go. I know this gametype always had its fair share of problems, but most of the time it was decent and you could have some fun games.

Anyway, today I played 5 games of Grifball before I had to stop as I couldn't take anymore. In each game, everybody seemed to conspire to not try to win, but instead to dance around and kill or betray anybody who tried to play the game properly.

I had teammates and enemy players working together to spawntrap me and others because we dared to try and score. They never killed each other, they just danced around together and waited for me - or any other straight nerd like me who wanted to play Grifball - to spawn so they could kill/betray us. I checked every time, and as far as I could tell, nobody was in a party or chatting to eachother. It seemed like an unspoken code or some shit.

I know its a casual playlist, and has always been prone to shitty games with endless betrayals, but it seems like utter garbage now. Is it always like this nowadays or did I just get unlucky?!

HALO MACHINIMA - Promised Land Part 2

Halo is going to return, what could 343 add into the game from past Halos to murder the game on day 1 thats not performance related

My anger with Halo 5 is getting out of hand. It has also revealed underlying issues.

Posted: 11 Dec 2017 11:36 PM PST

My family keeps asking what's wrong. They can tell something is bothering me, but all I want to do when they ask is fucking punch them. I can't get good at Halo 5 and it is bringing underlying issues.

The anger I've been feeling is too much. Sometimes it feels so unbearable to lose a game, and when I do lose a game the thoughts that pop in my head are very, very bad. I keep telling myself it's just a game, calm down.

I need to get better at the game

We've seen Repopulate Halo 3 days, what about Halo 5?

Posted: 11 Dec 2017 11:07 PM PST

Obviously Halo 5's repopulation date would have been weeks ago but it's worth asking, how come people here haven't tried to flood the servers there again?

People always talk about population issues, and while for the longest time I was still getting regular matches, since Destiny 2 launched it got a lot harder to find games. Last night though I was playing with two friends and hopping back and forth between BTB and Action Sack and had a shitload of fun (including getting eight ninjas across a few games).

Imagine this, Microsoft comes up with a free to play weekend for Halo 5 right around the holidays when all these people are presumably getting new consoles. Shit it's a two year old game, might they even make it a GWG for January?

Idk, just some thoughts I've had over the past little while. Think I might hop on and play now...

Eternity Vs Infinity?

Posted: 11 Dec 2017 07:03 AM PST

It has recently occurred to me that 343 might pit the two infinity-class warships against each other. I mean, nothing is stopping Cortana from completing Eternity, not to mention she basically has a slave labor force to do it. What are your thoughts?
