COD WWII has outsold Infinite Warfare on Steam in under a month.

Posted: 01 Dec 2017 05:49 AM PST

Looking at steamspy statistics (Not the best metric but indicative) CoD WWII released roughly a month ag outsold the previous title in under 2 weeks and even currently holds the #5 Global Top Seller spot on Steam as of time of posting.

What are your opinions on the game, on the multiplayer, on the microtransactions (MTX) and their unique spectatorship aspect. Have you planned on buying it? What makes it so much more appealing to the traditionally Cod-Disliking PC playerbase than the previous entries? Was Infinite Warfare just so bad?

How do you decide whether to buy a game? When do you think it's worth your money?

Posted: 01 Dec 2017 05:24 AM PST

I'm one of those guys that waits a month or so or even years after a game has come out before I even start considering whether or not to purchase something. I'll watch a walkthrough, preferrably a let's play where the people playing don't talk too much over the story or dialogue and then there will come a point where the uploader has gone far enough in the campaign and I'm invested enough into the story and gameplay where I feel to urge to stop myself from watching any further because I want to enjoy the experience myself. Reviews for me just don't cut it. There are a ton of subtleties to the games that can't really be expressed in words unless you see it for yourself.

I don't know about others but it's because of this habit of mine that I have very few games. I've managed to save a lot of money, avoid hype and all the pre-order culture going about and the few games I have, I know I will enjoy revisiting at a later date with as much enthusiasm as the first play session. On Steam I've only bought a total of 12 games in the past 7 years and that includes story-driven single-player campaign games and arcade games. I'm not a multi-player kind of guy.

The game that made me do this recently is Batman Arkham Origins. People will say that it's the weakest among the Arkham games but I ended up really loving Batman's outfit in the game, the bosses and the rather interesting storyline. I like Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamil but I felt that their replacements in Origins did a fairly excellent job portraying the characters. The Riddler sidequests weren't as annoying to me as the other games too, which was a plus.

So yeah, I'm curious as to how others consider buying their games.

Is there any chance of a monster catching game over ruling Pokémon without being called a rip off?

Posted: 30 Nov 2017 06:50 PM PST

I feel like Pokémon has such a hold over everything related to catching monsters. I see people make Fake-mon that look soooo good, and most of the time they are equal to or better than the Pokémon game freak produces (that isn't to say that what they design isn't good, of course).

It got me thinking. Is there ANY chance of a monster catching game coming out m that won't just be called a rip off of Pokémon? I'd really like something different than the standard Pokémon formula, because it's aimed too much at kids for a lot of people to enjoy.
