What the hell happened to PopCap games?

Posted: 21 Dec 2017 04:45 AM PST

I don't understand at all. From what I can tell they aren't doing much of anything. They released the second pvz shooter in 2016 and they've got some facebook games. I know that EA bought them but I'm assuming EA likes to make money.

Popcap should be printing money right now. They had a strong line-up of games that were absolutely loved. PvZ, bejeweled, peggle, zuma, even stuff like bookworm and chuzzle. Almost none of these games are available on mobile?! These games should be available on every major app store. Why aren't they making sequels to these games? I would buy them in a heartbeat. Even if it was just new levels or updated graphics.

Maybe they are printing money and somehow making new games or putting their games on the mobile market would somehow lose them money. I don't know. All I know is that this doesn't add up from a casual fans perspective.

AMA: We are the team behind Ultimate Chicken Horse!

Posted: 21 Dec 2017 07:15 AM PST

Hello r/games!

We are Clever Endeavour Games, the team behind Ultimate Chicken Horse.

Ultimate Chicken Horse started as a game jam in the fall of 2014, grew through a Kickstarter, 3 PAXs, hundreds of millions of YouTube views, a bumpy PC launch, lots of updates and has finally released on PS4 and Xbox One in the past week, with Switch coming early 2018.

We have a kinda goofy trailer to premiere here, to highlight a new feature that kinda went under the radar in the latest Elephantastic update. Props to u/FabGrisi for all this sweet sweet animation.

New Trailer: Explosions

Also, if you like stats, since the launch of the Elephantastic update, at 4:15pm yesterday:

2,118 Versus levels have been uploaded

2,579 Challenge levels have been created which have been attempted 427,324 times. Only 20,615(4.82%) of those attemps have been succesful.

Our team is made up of... Developers:

/u/richardatlas

/u/Alex2539

/u/Kylerk

/u/kiwibonga

/u/FabGrisi

And community manager: /u/Kate_Gray

We're here to answer your questions, but we're also here to ask you a couple. Have you played the Elephantastic update? Do you own Ultimate Chicken Horse on console, and is it the console experience you had hoped for? Let us know what you think - we love hearing your feedback!

Have you ever broken a game?

Posted: 20 Dec 2017 11:04 AM PST

Have you ever found an in-game bug that completely broke the game, ruined a save file, or instantly halted your progress.

I'm not talking about a technical bug where a texture didn't load in, or your game crashed. I'm talking like you found a way to get somewhere you were not intended to be, and you got stuck there.

Here's my example. In DBZ : Buu's Fury on GBA, you could fusion at will for many characters. There were also level gates that could only be unlocked by particular heroes. I wasn't even thinking about it and I went through the gate as the fusion hero, de-fused, was out of mana, and couldn't go back through the door I came through.

I had done literally everything in this game, and to this day my perfect save file is stuck beyond the gate.
