Upgrade Materials Are Not Fun

I have played this game just about every day since EA launched. I am power level 97, completely done with twine (other than the last few SSDs there), and enjoy the gameplay. My biggest complaint is that I have all these awesome heroes to try, and all these awesome traps/weapons to level, but you are so limited by the first two resource materials its ridiculous. Want to try out a new gun? First deposit a days worth of grinding mats into it and hope its good. Oh, its not? You like your other gun better? Too bad, you just wasted alllllll those materials but hey, you can get 90% of the xp back, that you cant spend, because you are out of mats. /facedesk

Here is my suggestion to fix this awful system and make it fun. Note I am still advocating for a grind. I get you want us to grind. I'm totally ok with that.

First- require each "unlock" in the skill tree that lets you level a specific type of card to a new star level to need a certain amount of rain/lightning/eyes/storm shards, maybe equivalent to like 2-3 "single" level ups for the equivalent level of an epic of that card. So if you want to buy the ability to level soldiers up from 2 to 3 stars (and I am not in front of the game, so making these numbers of) if its 40 rain and 12 lightning to do so now its 80 or 120 rain and 24 or 36 lightning, but you can FROM THEN ON just use XP to level up your soldiers. So there is some extra grinding/specialization in the beginning, but overall you arent "stuck" with one hero/item and can move around a little easier.

Second- let rain, lightning, eyes, and storm shards ALSO be redeemable items to dump into one of the resource pools for XP of that type (Schematic/Hero/Survivor). So you open up like the schematic tab, and you get the option to "convert storm material", and then select what you want to convert, and get an amount of XP based on the items you put in. Making up the numbers here, but a storm shards could be worth like 10k xp, eyes 5k, lightning 1k, and rain 250. If these items need to drop in less quantities or be slightly more rare on the map, so be it. Hell, tie them to reward chests. You got a t6 chest? Grats you get an Eye that can possibly upgrade to a Storm Shard. Just did the bare minimum on the map? Congrats you get 3 rain.

Third- Because we've effectively made it "easier" and "faster" to level up cards, increase the amount of schematic/hero/survivor XP needed to level your cards up. Also reduce the amount of XP we get for recycling cards down from 90% (maybe somewhere in the 50-75% range). I have no problems dumping XP into a card that is worthless to try it out, but the rain and other mats just makes me want to throw things and /uninstall.

The reason for this is I get you want us to grind, I literally have no problem grinding, but the current system is so darn frustrating I feel penalized for trying to level up guns/traps/heroes. And Survivors are boring as hell to level, but are required. So lately I log in, grind for a couple hours, and dump all my rain/lightning into survivors, leaving nothing to level up all the cool new hero cards or guns you put out. I am sitting on like 1.5m hero XP and it just grows and grows, and I stare at all these cool hero cards from the events that are beyond worthless because they are underleveled AND less powerful than my current "all the time" heroes, with the level part being the biggest factor in why I dont play them. I actively avoid hero XP maps cause they are pointless unless they have an awesome alert + material bonus. Schematic XP is growing the same way, it's starting to be pointless.

I want to grind your game. I am not sure how much I played since gold was grindable, but I enjoyed grinding gold to get items INFINITELY MORE than the old way. I knew that playing the game advanced what I wanted to advance, I had something to work towards. Half the time I do missions I get worthless rewards because if its not Surv XP, rain, or lightning, its garbage. Ok, do this mission for rain, then do that map for lightning, crap neither gave the right XP, so now we have to grind XP, ugh, Im 4 rain short, ok lets do another rain map, screw it I'm going to dental school.

That isnt fun. At all. Epic you can fix this, and make grinding great again!

Just checked out BR's Battle Pass rewards and noticed that several new emotes are included. Meanwhile, PvE has been stuck with two per character for ages.

Also noticed that there are animated cosmetics, outfits included. Again, where are ours?

I know people have said that PvE and PvP have separate dev teams, but I don't see why these things couldn't be present in both places. Surely I'm not the only one who's really disappointed by this?

Thought it was kind of strange it was only giving me the ability to purchase 2, when I had 1245 vbucks or so. I dare not purchase another one to confirm the price issue.

Also got a ton of greens and blues, but only 1 purple. Kind of lame if you ask me.

The game is slow paced when you're just traversing a map and frustratingly slow during combat when you gotta chase those lobbers behind cover anywhere or melee something that backs up as fast as you walk forward.

There are already a bunch of solutions scattered, but people have stopped talking about energy. Any word from devs on it??

Buy Deluxe Edition or Wait For F2P Release?

I have been playing Fortnite BR for sometime and considering jumping into the original Fortnite. But I am not sure if I should spend my money to buy Deluxe Edition now or wait for the F2P release then spend the money after that?

Is there any announcement about the benefit to the people that purchase "content" now than later in F2P release?

ive been playing this game since launch. An havent needed to make a rant post til now but the amount of afk players, people who quit before they even start or people who just want to build stairways to heaven has become to frequent. i love this game and dont want to see it fail but with how toxic the community has become im afraid it will happen. The need for and the lack of a better report button thats more accessible is a problem. how are we supposed to progress? how are we supposed to move forward in a team based game when said "teams" (in this case the ones i mentioned) are nonexistent? Not to mention the months old bugs, sucvh as trap crafting, losing trap stacks out of inventory, crashing, framerate issues, general server performance being trashy despite "fixes and improvements"

So much potential in this game, yet so little being done to realize it as it seems most performance efforts are all much wasted on BR.

EDIT: I used to have an active friends list for fortnite. Afkers drove them off. I left myself for a month, came back for new xmas event updates, loving them.

Feeling stuck at "I'm Probably Dead."

I've tried this hell of a mission 3 times now. I've focused on only 1 server, upgraded all walls. Created kill boxes. Legendary launchers etc etc. I cannot seem to pass it solo. No one runs it, no hits to help on general chat or the discord.

Any tips? I don't know what else to try.

Crafting material drop rate is enough to make me quit

I've been playing since early access launched (with a three month gap for this same reason) and at this point it's annoying enough for me to drop the game altogether.

Im currently sitting on 108 Copper Ore, over 200 Rusty Mechanical Parts, over 200 Simple Mechanical Parts, 32 Active Powercells, 4 Silver Ore (3 of which I got in the last game), and 2 Rotating Gizmos.

Since I started playing again a few days ago, I've found one Rotating Gizmo. I check basements, garages, break down everything after I search it, and nothing. Shit like this does not make the game sustainable. If I can't craft the decent weapons I have, I have no way to play in the highest level area that I can play in due to the lack of damage. All five of the two star guns that I use require at least 8 Silver, and between two and three Rotating Gizmos.

All I'm saying is that if I'm playing for 8 hours at a time and find fuck all for rare crafting materials, there's am issue. Because in those 8 hours I've needed to craft at least three new guns.

Why can I not use my Epic Games balance to buy in game currency?

This is a question for the devs. I was one of the people who was awarded credit for subscribing to UE4 before the pricing model changed. I currently have $30 in my "wallet" in the Epic Games launcher. Are there plans to allow this money to be usable to buy V-Bucks? I have already bought the battle pass with real money and it feels unfair that I have been credited $30 by Epic Games that I can't use outside of the launcher itself.

Better way of seeing what element the husks will be when they attack you

It would be nice to see it for more than 2 seconds and then have no clue what they will be. Sometimes I swear it doesn't even appear up so I have no idea what wall put down as a constructor in case of elemental smashers. It would be nice to have a info bar that showed us that info .

How do energy cost reductions stack?

  • Are same-source bonuses additive or multiplicative?
  • Are different-source bonuses additive or multiplicative?

If you have a sword with -13% and -17% energy cost, being used by 1-star Assassin Sarah (-60% energy cost), what is the final energy cost? If you upgrade her and get the extra 20% to Easy Sword, what does it become?

If everything is additive, the first answer would be 90% reduction, and the second 100% (with overflow).

If everything is multiplicative, the results would be 71.1% reduction and 76.9% reduction.

If a single source is additive, but different sources multiply, the results would be 72% and 86% reduction.

Can anyone that plays melee characters more help me out with an answer (tried searching, but couldn't find answers).


P.S. I couldn't find the "Submit Text Post" link on here without disabling the theme. Is it hidden for a reason?

Vacuum tube lightning pistol?

In the description it says it fires a continuous stream of lightning that stuns enemies, but while firing it it's clearly just a machine pistol. Is this bugged?
