Moral ambiguity is good, but that doesn't mean everything has to be grey Posted: 21 Dec 2017 09:20 AM PST I agree. Morally ambiguous and thought-provoking storylines are interesting. New Vegas shows this, as we've all discussed a million times before and need no further comments. But, just because morally grey characters and storylines are good, doesn't mean pure black-and-white morality is bad. Let's have a genuinely good faction, like the Followers, because there are genuinely good people out there. And let's have completely amoral characters, like Gage, because there are assholes out there that don't try to justify their assholery. In the next Fallout, I would like it for the main factions to be complex, as always, but let's have some minor factions that are purely good and purely evil, just for roleplaying sakes. That would be neat. It would also add some more depth for the main factions; let's say you ally with an evil, minor faction. Then the big factions would need to come up with a reason to hire a scumbag like your player character. [link] [comments] |
Mental state feature, would be a nice touch for fallout. Posted: 21 Dec 2017 01:55 PM PST The first 30 minutes of fallout 4 are a prime example of why this would've been a great feature! Seeing the world go up flames, loosing a spouse and a son straight after, leaving the vault and seeing only faded memories of what was. Would Literally turn you into the joker! This could also change how the player you created interacts with the world and everyone inside it. Stealth boys and psycho would be much more dangerous to use over and over again. Developing schizophrenia or psychosis added to a bubbly cheerful personality would be amazing. Imagine the dialogue, with npcs and companions. Hell what do you guys think? [link] [comments] |

[Lore/Science]Can synths have children? Posted: 21 Dec 2017 09:33 AM PST Something came to mind recently after watching a video theorizing that the Commonwealth's crows are institute spies and that Kasumi Nakano isn't a synth after all. Wouldn't the one way to tell if someone is ultimately a synth or not be if they can have children or not? Can synths even have children considering that they're made of synthetic tissues infused with/build upon DNA scaffolds? For example, if Kasumi did go on believing she was a synth for most of her life, what would happen if she finally decided to settle down and make a family? Consequently, I'm curious if there any clues in the lore as to whether or not synths can reproduce. A funny side thought. If they can't, that means there's a dedicated workshop in the institute probably on a larger scale than the one for humanoid synths specifically for synth crows. And on another note, since the institute is pretty much canonically (and wastefully) destroyed, would all synths including the synthetic animal spies just slowly decay as the last of their kind, much like Nick Valentine? If the Institute were to be destroyed, then that would likely leave a rapidly dwindling faction of hostile institute-loyal synths (maybe even akin to terrorists or something like the new order from star wars in terms of trying to rebuild the institute, or even like the east coast enclave remnants compared to the original enclave), but yet also due to the centralized nature of control and their past production of synths, that would leave a likely much larger majority of sentient, perfectly human-imitating synths who at that point would just assimilate into everyday life. Going back to my main point and acknowledging the forced sense of timescale here, over the course of years, provided the Insitute's disappearance/destruction, most of these synths would become normal members of Commonwealth society, and eventually come to have relationships and have the desire to reproduce (if not encounter the situation). This is where the real science/lore question kicks in, as it would be an interesting situation for someone to live their whole lives thinking they were a synth only to have a child and realize they aren't. The reverse case would also be quite interesting and ironically cruel, to live your whole life and then realize you are an imposter when you cannot reproduce (barring the certainties of radiation's effect on reproduction, although I do believe the world of Fallout differs from ours not only in historical terms, but also in laws of physics and nature to allow for the mechanics of things like fusion batteries and radaway). Overall, this seemed like a pretty interesting thought exercise regardless, but I'd like to know what you all think. Can synths have children? Or will their entire generation end up rusting away and cameo as some small quirky settlement in the next fallout game as they appear to be destined to after the collapse of the institute? There are a lot more interesting possibilities that I want to include in this massive spam of text so I'll likely edit it and add more, both spontaneously and potentially in response to the discussion. EDIT: I'm getting excellent and well-thought out responses here, please do read through as many as possible and let's keep this discussion going. Below this edit will be interesting topics that I or others brought up from below. -If synths were stopped from reproducing by the institute, would they begin to form new synth colonies and blend into normal society? Furthermore, this brings up the question of whether synths can only reproduce with synths. -The parallels between the idea of the immortal synth slowly breaking down over time and ghouliied humans are quite strong. There's a lot of potential here, especially considering not only this but also that ghouls and synths are both marginalized groups in the wasteland. Additionally, would a synth's ability to regrow and repair tissue support their immortality sustaining over decades upon decades (considering someone like Nick Valentine is so damaged)? -Assuming synths are long-lived and age negligibly or slowly/ differently from the humans they're based off, would synths eventually achieve a stage in life that's something akin to biological cellular senescence if their DNA is damaged or worn out over time? How different is a synth's metabolic process from a humans? -A visual novel or a novel or something that deals with the concept of love and being 'real' or not (whether in the sense of AI-Human or 'Real' Human-Human relationships), infertility, existentialism, immortality, and the concept of slowly falling apart sounds really interesting. -Assuming that synths can reproduce, they'd make a really interesting addition to the catalog of sentient races and species in the long term future of the Fallout world and lore. -There is a hint given in the game via dialogue with Deacon that he was unable to have children with a previous, now deceased partner who was a synth, giving credibility to the theory that they cannot have children [link] [comments] |

Looking for Spotify playlist with all the songs from 3, NV and 4. Posted: 21 Dec 2017 02:29 AM PST Does anybody have a link for such a playlist? The ones I found are either missing a lot of songs, or have 200+ songs from that era, but not only songs from the games. Tips for a Mormon build for new Vegas? Posted: 21 Dec 2017 05:20 AM PST So far, all I've got is that they left New Canaan years ago before it was destroyed, what perks should I take, what's his S.P.E.C.I.A.L and what decisions should I make? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Dec 2017 12:05 PM PST I was a Minuteman all the way in the main campaign, but I'm at a crossroads with Far Harbor. What should they do? What would Preston do? Greater good cover-up? Defend Far Harbor? I just don't know. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
Sweet, sweet, poor manipulated Curie... Posted: 21 Dec 2017 09:28 AM PST I'ma start off by saying that I love curie she is my favorite campaion, and I will almost never not romance her... But... Is the sole survivors romantic relationship with her a helathy relationship for her or is the sole survivor manipulating her? I mean think about it, this is her first time with any of these feelings and the ss is the one making all of the advances and flirting. She is still so clueless to the out side world and we thrust ourselves into her arms. I'm just not sure if the curie quite understands relationships yet so it might not be fair for her, after all she originally wanted just to study science and had not intended upon the ss... (but I still love you curie don't leave me) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Dec 2017 01:40 PM PST I just picked up FO4 finally due to the sale. Is there anyway to loot containers like the older games ? As in go up, press E and two menus pop up. Your inventory and what's inside ? I'm finding it a bit hard to use this new one. [link] [comments] |
what could fallout 4 done better? Posted: 21 Dec 2017 09:23 AM PST honestly I thought fallout 4 was pretty solid but after the end game was really disappointing. especially the institute ending considering you are the director but you didn't gain anything other than some new dialogue from npc's. what do you think? I decided to share my weapon names. Posted: 20 Dec 2017 04:54 PM PST Most of them are references but a few are what I just felt were fitting. [link] [comments] |
Too Low Level for the Strip?(Fallout New Vegas) Posted: 21 Dec 2017 04:04 PM PST So the other day, I decided I would buy the console release of Fallout New Vegas since it is part of the backwards compatible Xbox 360 line up. I already own it on PC but I have the console command itch whenever I load into it, so I end up level like 600(Wish that were entirely an exaggeration.) before even leaving Goodsprings and ruining the gameplay experience. So I finished everything I could going down the road away from New Vegas, helped the NCR with everything, completed all the stuff in Goodsprings, cleared out Primm(Deputy Beagle ended up dying because he didn't go the way I thought he would.) so then I decided I would make the trek to New Vegas, I was only about level five or six on the walk there, the first way I went was passed the place that was overrun with Deathclaws, even trying to walk as far away as I could, met the super mutant who warns you about the other super mutants and the radio DJ of the mutants. Still got chased by Death Claws and murdered, did this a few times trying a different approach eachtime, then I went the other way where what I thought were just bloatflies at first was, turns out it was those stupid Cazadors. So the first time it took me a moment, but then I got them pulled into what was a raider camp, and was able to climb to a mountain and use some dynamite, and my laser pistol to pick them off one by one. So then I proceeded forward to the place where that massive herd of Bighorners are, strafing enough so I'm out of site of any human enemies, making sure to avoid them at all costs before I finally make it to the walls of New Vegas. So what is the best level to be before actually taking the road to New Vegas? I mean I'm level 9 as of typing this and killing things in New Vegas is still a little taxing(ie killing Benny's gaurds and anyone involved in the White Glove Society.) [link] [comments] |
Pacifist run through on New Vegas Posted: 21 Dec 2017 09:37 AM PST I'm currently trying to go through the entire game without killing anybody or anything but this becomes increasingly difficult at bison Steve hotel where sneaking past the convicts to aid the deputy's escape is almost impossible to do without killing somebody. Any tips? I figured Obsidian would give me alternatives here but it's not looking like it [link] [comments] |
I repainted a Spirit Halloween Pip-Boy (album and video) Posted: 21 Dec 2017 05:09 AM PST I put a list of materials in the video description. Hopefully, it's easy to follow along. I'm no pro at video editing...or prop making for that matter. Thanks for looking! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Dec 2017 02:12 PM PST I went to the glowing sea with piper and we were both in power armor and she ran off to kill an enemy then she teleported behind me but she didn't have power armor on her body was just stretchy and deformed. Is there any way to fix this besides reloading an older save? I'm on Xbox with mods [link] [comments] |

New Vegas mod recommendations? Posted: 21 Dec 2017 02:06 PM PST Hi! So I've decided to give Fallout New Vegas another try. I've given it a shot twice so far, but the gunplay and initial impressions always threw me off. This time I've decided to mod the hell out of it before I begin. Here's what I'm looking for:
Many thanks to whoever decides to share their recommendations, cheers! [link] [comments] |
Has this happened to anyone else when you drink soda Posted: 21 Dec 2017 01:12 PM PST Took me a lot longer than it should have, to figure out where the bottle cap came from every time I drank a Nuka Cola [link] [comments] |
