Yyyyaaaaaoooooo!!!

My name is Jeff "eXtine" Extine and I was the private Chef for Team Liquid during their bootcamp for TI. The bootcamp was organized by Dreamhack and I was lucky to be thought of as a solution to the player's food needs. I've been cooking professionally since 2005 and actively involved in esports, mainly TF2, since 2009. I'm the general manager of 24th & Meatballs in Portland, Oregon and I am working on opening up a videogame bar called iLikeItNerdy.

I'm doing this AMA today because I'm hosting a charity event this weekend called HealsForReals, benefiting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. It'll be broadcast on twitch.tv/kritzkast on Saturday December 9th and Sunday December 10th from 9am PST till ~7pm. Our original goal was $1,500 which has been surpassed before we have gone live, it's $5,000 now and hopefully we'll bump it again.

While our charity event stems from the TF2 community and won't feature any DOTA2, I will be doing some live cooking segments featuring recipes from my time as Team Liquid's Bootcamp Chef. On Saturday at roughly 6:30pm PST I will be making Bacon Fried Rice. Our Sunday stream will kick off at 9am with a demonstration of how the Team Liquid players preferred their eggs prepared in the morning.

I just wanted to try and spread some awareness of this awesome event and will gladly answer any questions regarding cooking for Team Liquid, the bootcamp, food in general, this charity event, Elder Titan, or anything else!

Valve GameLegends Complain

Hi reddit, I'm in trouble, last summer there was TI7 and Valve after many complaints about the shipping price of welovefine (more than 100e for a 60e order) opened a service for europe region. So on the 13th of August, i've ordered and payed for 60,95e of goodies. We are the 8th of December and i havent got my items.

On the site it's written "Product is no longer available for a follow-up order" and the customers service refuses to answer.

What i am suppose to do? Is there anyone in the same situation?

MAIN MENU - CLIENT IMPROVEMENTS

  • add leaderboards in client

  • make ENTER key accept party invite and ESC key dismiss it, just like we can accept/decline matches
  • let us minimize party invite, not only "accept" or "decline"
  • when you have coach in party, please don't require coach to accept match
  • you should get a notification when you are commended
  • let us sell and buy cosmetics on market directly in game client/armory, and not by awkward steam market via browser.
  • armory seems bit messy right now, i feel like there is so much room for improvement. Now it's feels clumsy to manage and change cosmetics.
  • "Learn" tab needs rework, actually it should be merged with "Heroes" tab, and we need much more info there - practically DotaWiki (more detailed hero info, talent trees descriptions, all game mechanics, armor types, neutrals with their stats, pull timers, stack timers etc..) Right now, i can feel the pain of new players that can't even find the data about basic dota mechanics like last hitting, stacking, warding, ... . Even veterans are having problems with lack of descriptions on newly implemented mechanics like status resistance.
  • It is really annoying to be forced to go ALT+TAB to go to non Valve sponsored sites (eg. DotaWiki, btw congratulations wiki guys, if it werent for you, i believe dota would be much less played, but it's actually sad that Valve isn't providing us such informations via in-game client, and official wiki.), to search for information that should be provided inside Dota client at the first place. I can't streess enough how this is annoying. This is especially problem with spectating pro tournaments via Twitch, where I need to constantly alt tab to see what hero has what talents, because it's simply impossible to memorize all hero talents.
  • I feel like "Global items" should be placed in different tab than "Heroes", it really isn't intuitive like this
  • add option to disable "post-game lobby" or at least add chat lobby to post game screen as a separate tab. that way we can close it much easier - eg. when we leave post game screen, we leave chat lobby automatically.
  • big improvements needed on user feed, eg. when someone gets rampage, it would be neat to be able to click to that feed link and be taken to highlight of that specific rampage moment. Also, when someone of our friends gifts some hats to other friend, we can only see the name of the set. If we want to see that set, we need to google it which is really sad. I don't believe that Volvo doesen't want to sell more hats by implementing hyperlinks to that sets which we would be able to see in-game by simply clicking that link.
  • leveling up dota profile should be more exiting. remember old days where you would get chests for leveling up. at the moment, leveling up dota profile doesen't feel good, and it's actually pointless.

 

IN-GAME IMPROVEMENTS

  • add silencer intelligence gain info in his skill description. Also, show negative debuff on players that lose intelligence. This is pretty important for new players.
  • make improvements to the chat log, and make taking rosh timers easier to track
  • please move buyback and tower deny messages from the middle chat screen to the left of the screen where status-kill log messages are - like suggested here https://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/7hafzc/dear_valve_can_you_put_this_here_please/ TLDR: Everything that is not chat should be in the left log.
  • Extend/update spell descriptions/tooltips that right now have so much problems. (eg. Meat Hook's description doesn't mention anywhere that you can use it to hook runes or that hooking a rune refunds mana. Ancient Apparition's ice vortex doesn't mention that it gives him movespeed. Windrunner's ult doesn't mention that Windrunner can attack the target while moving. There are many examples like this, but it would take so much space to mention them)
  • We really need better talent descriptions (weird stuff like "Cataclysm", "+6 Corrosive Skin", "-1.5 assassinate", "Ghost ship fleet", "Waveform attacks targets"). I mean how would anyone figure out what do this talents do, other than firing up demo mode and testing it.
  • add hotkey for "resume courier delivery". Now we only have infamous right click courier icon.
  • bring cloud shadows back (http://i.imgur.com/vlQt1Nu.gifv), radiant tower vines, atmospheric fog, and overall darker map color tone. Source 2 took so much details away, and seems to make things so much brighter than before. Source 1 map was so much prettier and it felt more lively. It had darker color tone, beautiful trees, leafs, grass, animals, vines, little details, and beloved cloud shadows... There is so much room for improvements on visual aspect on source 2 map.
  • make ALT-clicking abilities/items/building messages more useful. (http://imgur.com/a/z6V7j) This year Valve did some improvements on this issue, but there are more improvements to be implemented. Biggest one is when you have both spell on cooldown and insuffcient mana to use it. Current ALT message says only "spell on cooldown (3 sec)", instead of "spell on cooldown (3 sec), and not enough mana (34 needed)". Eg. you are roaming Pudge running for a gank. You have your hook on 5 sec cooldoown, but you only have 20 mana. If you ALT click your hook ability, status message will say Spell on cooldown - Meat Hook (5 sec), but it will NOT inform your allies that when it comes off cooldown you WILL NOT have enough mana. This is often resulting in failed ganks. Another ALT click improvement suggestion is with urn/bottle. When we alt click them, status message should also display number of charges. Another big one is - ALT pinging item in stash SHOULD say "In stash" instead of "backpack"!
  • show us who used glyph/scan or who killed courier (players) eg. Dire couried was killed by %playername%. Or "Radiant (%playername%) used scan/glyph.
  • WE need improvements/fixes to Demo mode, which currently isn't behaving in similar fashion as real lobby games (eg. some bugs exist in Demo, but not in "real" games, so it's hard to test things, and we need more sandbox experience: camps, rosh,...)
  • currently status resistance is bringing up lots of confusion. i believe implementing this kind of change would make status resistance things more clear https://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/7f1db8/what_if_the_stun_indicator_had_a_visualization_of/
  • attribute icons and text are misaligned on primary attribute (https://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/5q3hzq/hud_bug_attribute_icons_and_text_misaligned/)
  • Decrepify-Tombstone interaction needs to be fixed
  • fix coaching that is currently crippled
  • make Gyro's flak cannon projectiles more visible
  • right now all tier (1, 2, 3, 4) towers all look the same, which often fools new players, and they think that all tier towers have the same stats. There should be tower and their projectile particle upgrade with each consecutive tier, we must "feel their power"!
  • melee and ranged barracks looks too similar, we need better distinction

  • let us pool tangoes/observer wards/sentries to midlane in strategy time.

I usually have 2 tp scrolls in my inventory to have possibility to tp in any situation (you always may forget to buy it when you really need it, so having two is more safe). I've found that in late game I almost always have a trouble that I can't sell the last tp scroll after buying boots of travel. It means that for some reason the free tp scroll is used not first as intended but last from the stack. Please fix it.
