22 Reasons To Play 707

Posted: 28 Dec 2017 08:33 AM PST

yes you really are that bad.

Posted: 28 Dec 2017 01:57 AM PST

I hate nothing more than people who say that they have the skills of a 4k player but get stuck in the shit tear. one year ago I was 500 mmr, and I thought that I just such a good supp that my team could not keep up and I was in the "mmr trench". it was not till I used a boosted account to bring me up to 3k MMR where I thought I belonged that I realized how massively out skilled I was. I took this as a really good learning opportunity and went back to that 500 MMR account and really refined my skills and learned the game. one year later I was 2.8K and now calibrated as a acron 5 in the new system. a small rise yes but one that I am dam proud of. yes you really are that bad and you never really realize that until you look back on yourself. valves system is oddly good at placing you, take an honest look at where you are and find out why, that is how you get better, not screaming at your supposed idiot team, because most likely you are just as bad as the rest of your team.

RodjER - my parents are into dota, they even can suggest something in drafts (interview)

Posted: 28 Dec 2017 03:53 AM PST

Source, RU

Bad englandsky translation by me (I skipped few questions about team results).

Vladimir RodjER Nikogosyan became one of the main discoveries in the world's Dota 2 scene. He played on TI7 with Team Empire, then transfered in Na'Vi during autumn reshuffle period. He's, no doubt, one of the best supports from CIS.

-- You had a carreer path during this year, from Rebels to Na'Vi. Many of CIS players only dreamed about it. What do you think about "big organisations" now, when you have some experience. Any cons and pros? Something changed in your regular life after reshuffle?

Organisations aren't seriously affect your personal skills. Rebels, Effects -- you stay the same. Most of changes are in the media part. You need to give interviews, photoshots etc. It takes time. Also, rich organisations can provide a bootcamp.

I thougnt it isn't really matter for what organisation I play, personally. But when I started playing in Na'Vi, I saw how much people are cheering for me. It feels better to win with Na'Vi, yes.

-- Was the transfer in Na'Vi easy? Did you felt the pressure, which all Na'Vi novieces talking about? The casters, analytics, viewers attention and critics?

I had such problems before, other's opinions was a pressure for me. Now it changed, I dont worry about it as much as before. When I joined Na'Vi it was interesting to read comments, but now i dont read them. There's nothing useful.

I do listen some analytics and caster, sometimes they are saying useful things. But I didnt feel any pressure from them.

-- What was the main thing in your Dota life this year?

The victory over EG on the TI, for sure. It was the best what happened for me, personally. Very cool emotions. I believed in the victory, I was trying hard, but it still was unexpected. But i can say, for sure, it wasnt my best game in terms of dota skills. Because of human factor and something else, it was my first TI, I did worry.

-- So, which was your best "skill" game this year then?

The finals of Adrenaline Cyber League, versus VP, i think. And, second map versus OG in the DreamLeague. Those were the games.

-- What were the main changes in the CIS Dota 2 scene this year?

There are many of qualifers now. It's not good. Too many "derbies", like Na'Vi vs Empire. I think its boring for viewers. But I'm ok with it, we play with them often in clanwars anyway. Qualifers are becoming kind of clanwars, but for the LAN-finals.

-- Any CIS players you discovered or saw in the other light this year?

Crystallize. He is constantly working, improving. Young guy, but he is already in top-3 EU MMR ladder. He has a great potential. I saw him before in some tier-3 teams, he was playing like ordinary carry, but now I see how much he is growing as a player. And XBOCT helps him in it.

-- Na'Vi has tried everything in the new DPC system, from open qualifers to direct invite to major. Something changed in your opinion on DPC system?

It changed personal attitude for games. Now, when you are playing versus a team, which is close to you in the tournament table, you are understanding that you should try as hard as possible. Because, if you lose, you will drop, they will raise and you will miss a chance. Something like that.

You are thinking about points, not money. And its good. My target is TI, and I need points to go there.

Well, also the schedule filled up with a lot of games. But I got used to the new system, so its ok.

-- One of the most hot topics -- the number of teams on majors. What do you think, majors should have 8 or 16 teams?

I'm rooting for 16 teams, because its more interesting, more games, more chances to gain points. And when there is 8 teams, Na'Vi should play qualifers, so im for 16 teams for sure. (smiling).

-- You started to reject qualifers for some tournaments, is it bacuse of the filled schedule?

Yes. We rejected Starladder qualifers, because the dates matched with ESL and we should play both in one day. And we have invited to the Major, which scheduled right after Starladder. So we want to stay at bootcamp and prepare to major, save some strats.

-- What divide Na'Vi from top-tier teams?

Well, I think, more team-decisions and moving. We have a great potetional, we are working on it. Also, they have a lot of strong strategies, some players have really huge hero pools.

-- Is it true, that Na'Vi playing better when you're behind?

Well, it is different situations. There are some drafts, when you cant make any single mistake, when you're leading, but misses something and the game is over. There are drafts, when you're targeted to the late game, when you know that your draft is allowing you to comeback later. We like to play in different ways. I think, we more like to play early stage game, when you winning from start and trying to win the game without mistakes.

-- But you are the "Comeback kings" of CIS!

Well, there were few games... I think its kind of magic of the organisation tag.

-- Another hot topic -- who are the bets 4th of CIS?

Hm... Chuvash.

-- Why?

I don't know, just said first name came to my mind. I take this question as a joke.

-- Well, the best 4th worldwide then?

Jerax. He is a god of Tusk and Earth Spirit.

-- What makes you a good 4th pos. player?

The ability to adapt for any situation. Think fast. When you're playing 4th, you never have a "default game", you always need to improvise, every game. If you're good at it, then 4th is for you.

-- You are pretty mysterious for the public, rarely shows for interviewes or streams. What are you doing if not playing?

I meet my friends, we like to play poker and just have fun, chatting. I didnt have enought time for such things before. I was playing Dota like 5 years straight. I needed to. I had a target to join top tier team and show myself, I was all into it. Right now, i have time to rest and chill with my gf sometimes.

-- What were your sacrifices for the career?

Health, in first time. Personal life (relationships). Everything.

-- What your family do think about your hobby and work?

My parents are into dota, they understand game well. They watched dota half a year, and right now, they can predict who will win during the draft. I have no idea why they are so good at dota predictions. They even can suggest me drafts, heroes. They are watching my games every time, rooting for me. They are following dota news and memes.

-- Was it from the start? They supported you in your hobby? Or they were against it like most of dota-players parents?

They were like most parents. They didnt cut my wires, but it was emotional pressure: "stop playing so much!" etc. But they allowed me to do someting I like, and I highly appreciate it! Then they saw that I started to succeed. I explained them how everything works; and they understood me.

-- What was your big deal this year, except dota?

I started to travel worldwide, been in the US, it was a big discovery for me. I cant mark some place, everywhere were different. For example, I was in great hotel in Macau, the best one! And the town was cool, like Chinese Las Vegas. However, I understood that China isn't my place.

-- Who could be the best Ded Moroz (Santa) from your team?

Igor, our manager. I think he could be a good Ded Moroz. He likes to make presents. And all others should be just children. Vitya should be Koshey. Danil is just a funny boy, who is rushing from corner to corner. Vlad will just stay calm and watching, Akbar too. And XBOCT will record his Xvlog.

-- What do you want from Ded Moroz, not from dota?

Beatiful men's coat.

-- And what if Ded Moroz will be IceFrog?

Well, I wish he wouldn't disable my Blink Dagger sometimes. I mean, the enemy hits me, thinking he disabled my Blink, but he didn't! And i will jump away. Just little bit of cheats (laughing)! He can rig it it, well, just once!

Can we get a duck hero?

Posted: 27 Dec 2017 05:43 PM PST

Duck is heavily underrepresented in gaming. I think it would be cool to have hero that has resemblances to a duck.

EDIT: /u/rotiunicorn made it happen in this thread.

He cut the wave, pulling it to enemy jungle creeps and double farmed them with shells, stacking when possible and grabbing runes. Can't find a link on dotabuff though. He said it was the easiest game of his life.

Make the Official Dota 2 website for user friendly

Posted: 28 Dec 2017 04:50 AM PST

Currently, I feel that there are many hidden stuff on the dota2.com website that are not very user friendly. For example, if one wishes to look at the leaderboards, he has to search using other search engines to be able to see it. Also, the information about the Pro Circuit cannnot be found on the homepage itself. So I hope that Valve would make changes to the website by adding a new tab that shows pro circuit, leaderboards and maybe hidden information as well.
