It would be great if the mission areas of the Arcology on Titan could be added to the free roam map.

Posted: 03 Dec 2017 07:49 AM PST

I don't know about you guys, but I really like the feel of the Arcology. The rain and the water give a very immersive, dark feeling of a lost city of the Golden Age. It's just unfortunate that it is so small.

There are many areas that are used in the missions (the dome, the platforms where you fight the two wizards) that could be added to the free roam map with hidden stuff, chests, fast travel points, public events and maybe even one or the other lost sector.

Since the assets are already in game, maybe this wish might come true on day.

Savathun's Song boss killed in 1 minute (applies to nightfall for rat king purposes aswell)

Posted: 03 Dec 2017 06:42 AM PST

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OiOpL-jHpBc

One phase defeat of the boss for "Savathun's song" aka the giant shrieker. This strat is also possible for at least a 2-bar burn off the bosses health making the nightfall or prestige nightfall significantly easier and a cake walk for people trying to obtain rat king. The strat we used was,

1 titan with melting point

1 titan with double pulse grenades and rally barricade

1 warlock with pulse grenade and arc souls

all 3 using curtain calls.

the idea is to melting point the boss while at the same time having your teammates activate the fight by shooting the crystal and activating their abilities so you meet up at the same time for DPS. Chuck your nades at the boss as fast as you can and get off 2-3 rockets via barricade, the boss will teleport right behind you after taking X amount of damage, keep chucking rockets at the boss via barricade for maximum DPS output. Slight note, if you are a 2-pulse nade user, try to preemptively throw your grenade at the teleport spawn before the boss actually gets there so you dont lose out on time to keep using your curtain call shots.

EDIT #2 - Apparently there's some really..."bright" people out there messaging me that think i used a macro for this. I did hold crouch, it's in the god damn map keys menu for the game. Obtain common sense, please. Not only this but you can use the "standard" toggle crouch and still do this (which both of my fireteam members were using, btw)

VendorEngrams.xyz and Curse of Osiris - an update

Posted: 03 Dec 2017 02:28 AM PST

Curse of Osiris is nearly upon us; in a mere three days we'll all get to experience the wonders of Mercury. When the update drops we know there are going to be some changes to the way vendors operate and that will obviously effect VendorEngrams.

So far we know the maximum Light Power Level will be increased to 330 base, 335 with mods. Additionally there will also be some new vendors. The latter isn't a major problem, a simple patch will add any new vendors. The former however is a bit more difficult. Currently we're operating on a verified user basis (with nearly 1,400 of you!) where people apply for verification and their username is checked against one of the tracking sites to ensure they are at least 305. Votes by these users are what send out the notifications on Twitter and the browser notifications on the site. When the DLC drops though the new cap of 335 will almost certainly be applied to the vendors drops as well meaning all our verified users will no longer be verified.

The solution I've decided on is to finally get around to implementing Bungie.net sign-in. What this means is that all previous accounts will be removed and going forward sign-in to vote with a verified status will require you to sign-in with you Bungie.net account. This will allow the system to check your level on the fly and decide whether the vote should be counted or not. Unverified (users not logged in) votes will still be enabled.

I'm hoping to have that work completed before Tuesday, but I can't guarantee anything. If it's not completed the Twitter notifications will be disabled until it is to prevent spamming tweets. Assuming I do managed to get everything finished the site will go down for maintenance for a small period (30 - 60 minutes) while the update is applied. After which only Bungie.net sign-in will be available. Due to this update current sign-up has been disabled since the accounts will be removed anyway.

In addition to the sign-in changes there will be some cosmetic changes required, mostly changing references of 300/305 to 330/335. That update will come some time after the new sign-in changes.

We also know there are going to be changes to how vendors operate coming around December 12th. While we know some of the details of this we don't yet know how they will effect the current drop system, if they do at all. Any changes required in relation to that will obviously come once they've been figured out.

There are a lot of unknowns at play in the coming weeks and while I'll try to keep the site updated to reflect any developments I can't guarantee it will happen promptly–I want to play the DLC too! It will also take time for people to reach the new cap, especially in the numbers we currently have, so the site will undoubtedly slow in terms of reports for a time.

I've also launched a blog in order to post development updates and any other news.

Finally I want to say a huge thank you to everyone that has voted, signed-up, and followed VendorEngrams over the past few months, without you the site simply wouldn't exist. I'd also like to say a special thanks to the people that donated to help with the costs of running the site.

Eyes up Guardians, and see you all on Mercury.

Add more patrols to Titan, most of the planet is unused.

Titan is one of my favorite planets but most of it has nothing to do except look at the aesthetics. Bungie please, make Titan great again.

One Year Ago Today: Ice Breaker Announced as part of the Dawning

Posted: 03 Dec 2017 07:30 AM PST

It was one year ago today at PSX that a trailer for The Dawning 2016 showed that Ice Breaker was coming back to Destiny. This sub reacted pretty much how you would expect and lost it's collective mind in a way I haven't seen since. What a great day.

With the new Raid Lair coming, I encourage everyone to go in blind, or at least go in on the first day before all the guides are out.

Posted: 03 Dec 2017 06:17 AM PST

When I did Leviathan for the first time, it was blind with some randoms on LFG. Trust me it was better than any raid experience before (I'd never gone in blind in D1). There's none of that, "must have 80 completions" nonsense, because everyone is new. The intent of going in blind is to provide players with a sense of pride and accomplishment for unlocking new gear and weapons.

Believe me when I say that having an idea for how to complete an encounter, and even if it's only a small part of the bigger encounter, feels like the best thing since you took out Ghaul.

I Don't Have Hope for Hidden Secrets in Destiny 2

Posted: 03 Dec 2017 11:13 AM PST

From the moment I started playing D1 at Launch, I was filled with a sense of wonder. I had never played a game that let us explore such an interesting alternate time line within our own universe. It felt incredible. This feeling was only amplified by Bungies sprinkling of everything from hidden VoG Chests, the feeling of going into a Raid blind for the first time, and secret missions, exotics and emblems to be earned as D1 progressed through existence. I don't think I'm alone in saying that I felt a sense of wonder and desire to free roam and explore in the hopes that I may find new information or even just enjoy the feeling of immersion within the game.

I don't feel that in Destiny 2.

I understand that many unique and hidden bits of content only came to D1 well into it's lifecycle, but having regressed so far from QoL in Y3 D1, I have little to no hope of being enveloped in the same sense of wonder that D1 gave me. Efforts are aimed at fixing the sandbox and adjusting game mechanics (And rightly so!!) But It seems like with everything being simplified and streamlined thus far - and the blog post didn't really touch on this Either - that Bungie is moving further away from creating an interesting world that players want to get lost in, and more towards a generic shoot and loot system.

There are SO many other aspects of my experience in D2 that make me feel this way (see: Fixed subclass nodes etc.) But my point is that I feel one of the most glaring problems with the game thus far is that the world doesn't fill players with that wonder that D1 did. Bungie, please flesh out this beautiful universe you've built. I hope we DO find out why those giant bones are on Venus. I hope we DO find out what all these mysterious Ana Bray messages in the tower and the world are about. But don't just tell me, let me explore the game to find out. Better yet, make me want to.

Puzzle encounters should always end with a boss.

Posted: 03 Dec 2017 08:12 AM PST

I think we learned this both from Zamboni in WotM (which was cool but felt short) and all of the encounters in the current raid, sans calus.

While the encounters are sometimes frustrating (gauntlets when your warlocks are being slow) they often feel pretty short and not as "raid" - y. They're really fun mechanics, but I wouldn't exactly call them difficult or satisfying. Baths especially just feels like totems in kingsfall.

That being said, I like all of the encounters and think they'd be more well regarded if they then lead in to a boss on the other side.

Remember totems leading to warpriest? That's what I'm talking about. Warpriest wasn't exactly a hard fight either, but felt like a satisfying end to Totems. Same with Aksis.

You could have each encounter hit a checkpoint upon completing the mechanics. A new boss spawns in the same arena (let's you reuse assets, so this is something that could be feasibly done in a big patch), with new but related mechanics. Nothing insane, maybe 3 roles in the fight, but it'd make the raid feel much longer and more satisfying.

So you get a more satisfying experience for players, more loot chances, and a good PR statement (most encounters than in any raid ever before).

Thoughts?

Bungie plz. With the X1X update can we please get extra graphics options? I'd love to turn off film grain on console.

Posted: 03 Dec 2017 10:05 AM PST

It's the Sunday before a new expansion and as of this posting the only post on the front page related to it is a suggestion to go into the raid lair blind.

Posted: 03 Dec 2017 11:37 AM PST

This is all you really need to see to understand "The State of Destiny 2"

It is just crazy to me that there is no speculation about content or secrets, no discussion about what the best new weapons/armor may be, and certainly no posts voicing excitement about CoO. It really shows the state of the game and the mindset of the community right now.

We have been through some lulls and definite salt infusions on this Sub, but I've never seen such complacency here, ESPECIALLY days before new content drops.

Add a saved shaders system to armor and weapons, just the same as ordnance.

Posted: 03 Dec 2017 01:42 AM PST

Simple; my suggestion is just to let us players change between shaders already applied to equipment.

For example; if I apply the shader "Indigo Matrix" to my Tone Patrol Scout Rifle, and after a while apply a different shader, lets say "Veist Poison" by paying the required glimmer cost (which the game already haves), after that I can swap between the shaders already applied in my weapon: Default, Indigo Matrix and Veist Poison shaders respectively.

My point is to have the ability to change between the shaders that i already paid for in my equipment.

Thank you, give me your thoughts about this, and my apologies if this was already pressed about.

I'd like to explore planets with more than 2 friends.

Posted: 02 Dec 2017 07:08 PM PST

I have a few close friends that play Destiny 2. I'd like to be able to do more than just one raid. It would be nice for all of us to go to Nessus and wreck up some public evens or just explore and mess around. Or maybe a six man strike playlist with added difficulty. Or 6v6 and Big Team Battle type PvP would be nice. Just someone else. Are we even able to go to the Traveller with more than 3 people?

We can create big parties, but can't actually party.

Remember the Blades of Crota?

Posted: 03 Dec 2017 08:45 AM PST

Back in D1 days, it was awesome to see the Blades of Crota show up before The Dark Below dropped. I can't remember if the Taken and Fallen Captains with the Scorch Cannons showed up pre-release, but I feel like they did. I know there are more important things to fix, but it was nice to get some in game changes to hype people up for the expansions.

Edit: Looks like all the expansions had pre-release content. :)

The next Clarion Call (if we have one) should eliminate individual clan exp contribution cap.

Posted: 03 Dec 2017 03:24 AM PST

This allows for small clans or clans that a majority of its members no longer active to catch up to Rank 6. This of course would be on top of the double exp. I just found it odd that it is Hawthorne telling us about the event but for the event to benefit the individual instead of the clan. Being a member of a small clan (9 members with only 3 of us playing consistently), I think this would really help out getting to that max ranking while sort of giving players who haven't played for a while a reason to come back.

Add a strike in the Last City

Posted: 02 Dec 2017 03:28 PM PST

In the campaign we get to play in one of the coolest environments of Destiny, the Last City. My only problem with it is how little we get to play in it.

In Vanilla Destiny for the last mission we got to play in the Black Garden. This was another cool enviorment that was only accessable in the last mission. When DLC 1 released PlayStation players were able to play back through that area in a new strike (that was horrible but because of strike design and boss, not because of the enviorment).

What I think would be a really cool location for a strike is playing through the last city again in a strike. Maybe the Cabal have a small squadron of soldiers left in the city after the attack. Or maybe the Fallen have sent out a scouting party that needs to be delt with before anyone gets hurt. There are a lot of directions Bungie could take this.

I miss the music and spirit that came with The Dawning last year. Here's a touch of nostalgia for you Guardians.

Posted: 03 Dec 2017 09:35 AM PST

The trailer for the Dawning opened with a very festive note and brought some of the most fun I had in D1. I love Sparrow Racing but especially having it during the peak of holiday cheer in December was perfect with all the time people normally take off. Plus the chase for Icebreaker was so much fun and made Y3 activities fun again in many ways. Here's that trailer: Rise of Iron - The Dawning Trailer

And here is the link to the Bungie article with the two songs they made available with The Dawning event: This Year At Bungie - 12/15/2016

(I sneak these songs into almost every Christmas playlist I can.)

We may be getting Curses instead of Christmas this year, but there is still a chance to embrace some of spirit that helped us close out D1 in such a great way. Here is hoping the live team delivers even more in the coming year for us.

EDIT: Others have pointed this out and I missed it in the notes on the most recent Deej post but The Dawning IS returning to Destiny 2! Let's hope to see more about it this time around with TWAB!

Can we please make the ordinance, impact, and grenade mods not be subclass specific?

Posted: 02 Dec 2017 11:33 PM PST

I get it was needed to inflate an already small mod pull, but it's the reason i won't use these mods on my armor. It's literally taken the one of the things on armor that wasn't subclass specific (the Int/disc/str) and made it so for no discernible reason. I don't want to have 3 Synthocepts with three of these mods just to gain the use of a few second off certain cool downs.

Now, if these actually increased the damage or otherwise altered the actual things they talked about (like say, an extra second to a grenade effect, or increased melee speed/damage, I could totally see why they would be more subclass specific, but they don't, and they don't have a different effect between subclasses, so it doesn't make any sense to have 3 separate impact/grenade/ordinance mods if they are replacing a mechanic that wasn't subclass specific in the first place.

Finally hit the 305

Posted: 03 Dec 2017 05:45 AM PST

Community, Let's Make It Happen: Bungie, please release Marty O'Donnell's "Music of the Spheres" original soundtrack.

Posted: 02 Dec 2017 12:38 PM PST

Bungie, please release it in time for Christmas. This is what the playerbase wants, and deserves.

With the communities support, we can make our voices heard. Anything is possible.

Marty O'Donnel has given us his blessing to have the music released:

"Years ago, when I was Audio Director at Bungie, I gave away nearly 100 copies of Music of the Spheres.

I don't have the authority to give you permission to share MotS.

However, no one in the world can prevent me from giving you my blessing."

"By the way, I won't be seeing any money from this, regardless of what happens. MotS was work-for-hire and I was paid a long time ago. Only publishers can get money from this. I just believe that fans deserve to experience what we intended."

"Also, unless something's changed, Activision has no stake in this since they don't own any Destiny IP.

This is all up to Bungie."

Tweet at the important people at Bungie

Make your voices heard, tweet at them regarding this matter:

Why aren't random shaders applied to legendary weapon drops?

Posted: 02 Dec 2017 05:12 PM PST

I had a Cuboid auto rifle drop for me on Titan while leveling my titan, and it had a shader already applied to it. It looked great! It made my Cuboid a bit more unique. Blue, instead of red. Cool! Then I realized... none of the legendary weapons ever seem to drop with a random shader applied. That seems rather shallow, doesn't it? Having random shaders spawn on your weapons when they drop with a ~30% frequency would be one way to make weapons slightly more interesting, especially if Bungie is looking at cosmetic loot to be the endgame.

This could be made even better if certain weapons had a unique set of shaders (almost like an ornament for non-exotics) that couldn't be found on other weapons, and each version would make the weapon look slightly different, like when you leveled up the SIVA weapons from Wrath of the Machine.

Something like this, even just for Masterwork weapons would be another step to making my guardian feel unique again, Bungie.
