| 2017 Best of /r/DestinyTheGame - Nominations and Voting! Posted: 18 Dec 2017 01:08 PM PST Season's Greetings, Guardians! With 2017 coming to a close, it is time to reflect upon the diversions this subreddit provided from the outside world over the tumultuous past 11.5 months. As is tradition, we are holding the Best of /r/DestinyTheGame Awards! This is when both the community and the Vanguard acknowledge the outstanding contributions made by users this year. Here are the award categories: Media Post of the Year (Serious)Awarded to the media post that dove deep into one or more topics with an exceptionally-high level of excellence. Media Post of the Year (Funny)Awarded to the media post that made you laugh more than any of the others in the past year. Lore Post of the YearAwarded to the post which provided spectacular analysis of Destiny's narrative, characters, factions, locales, etc. Post of the YearNo matter the flair, this post stood above the rest and is recognized as such. Suggestion of the YearMany users dislike Bungie Suggestion posts, but several quality posts bearing the Bungie Suggestion flair have led to improvements in the game. This award recognizes a Bungie Suggestion of surpassing quality in 2016. SGA of the YearWhile many of us consider ourselves preeminent Destiny experts, some tips, tricks, and facts may elude us from time to time. This award honors the contributions of an SGA post to our community's knowledge base. The megamanexe4 Special Services to the Subreddit AwardNamed for the "Oracle of Destiny" himself, this award goes to a user whose collective body of work on the subreddit this year made them a credit to Guardians everywhere and whose continued presence improved this community. The Craysh Memorial AwardPreviously known as Guide of the Year, this award was renamed in memory of /u/Craysh, a dear friend of the subreddit and perhaps the community's greatest guide-writer of all-time. Craysh created and maintained several threads of everything that had been announced for various updates and, when he ran out of room, took his work to the subreddit's wiki, providing Guardians around the world with incredible resources for The Taken King and other updates to the game. Since last year, we've given this award to the user who wrote a Guide post worthy of the man for whom the award is named. How nominations and voting work:In the comments below, you will notice that the only top-level comments are from moderators. This is because top-level comments from non-moderators are not permitted in this post. | Bungie, the hidden juggler mechanic is the biggest boner-kill I’ve felt in any shooter ever... Posted: 18 Dec 2017 06:22 AM PST I've done the new raid lair several times and it is a ton of fun to blow through, with One. Fucking. Exception. I am constantly scrambling for ammo the entire time. I'm gonna leave heavy ammo completely out of this rant. The fact that I was left to melee goblins left and right during the DAMAGE phase of the main boss encounter, all because I was depleted of every bit of ammo is god-awful design. I'm fine with increased difficulty with whatever enemies you want to throw at us, but starving us for basic fucking primary ammo to pew pew the bad things is really ass-backwards. Either give us back ammo synths, increase the amount of stored ammo, or TURN OFF JUGGLER. I'd be cool with all three. [link] [comments] |
| Remember when Bungie first announced Eververse? Here, take a look. Posted: 18 Dec 2017 06:16 AM PST Link to the original tease for Eververse can be found in a previous TWAB here. Link to the official announcement post can be found here. So, Eververse was originally added to be non-intrusive, and only there to support the Live Team so they can continue to develop updates to the game. It started with just a few emotes, and that was it. Look where we are now. I was going to finish the post there but something came to mind. Micro-transactions were introduced because Bungie decided to move away from the £20 DLC's and wanted to focus more on regularly updating the game instead of doing it once per season, and to offset the cost, introduced micro-transactions to fund the Live Team. However, even though in Destiny 2 micro-transactions are still there, the £20 DLC's are back. If we paid for the game, and the DLC's also need to be purchased separately, and there is an active in-game incentive to buying the DLC's (locked content) then what are the funds from micro-transactions now going towards? If the DLC's were free, I could understand the way the loot boxes are at the moment, because it would be funding free updates to the game like originally promised. In fact imagine if Curse of Osiris was free due to funding provided from the Eververse store, it would kind of make the whole system make a little bit more sense. No, we're paying for these updates, and also providing funds to Bungie through micro-transactions. Shouldn't it be one or the other? Here's my take on this; Bungie, stick to your word on why you implemented this system in the first place. If you're going to keep Eververse the way it is, then future DLC's should be free updates. If you're going to charge us for future updates, then micro-transactions shouldn't be such a pivotal part of Destiny 2's endgame. If the original idea for Eververse was to fund a team to provide free content to the game, then stick to that idea, because right now it's becoming more and more obvious that you've done a bait-and-switch with us and are now double-dipping in our pockets. I love Destiny, I want to see it succeed, but these tactics are doing nothing but leaving a sour taste in my mouth, and I don't think I'm the only one who feels this way. Edit: Just to clarify, I'm aware Eververse was not introduced to replace DLC, and Bungie never announced this officially. My point is, if Eververse was implemented to create an alternative revenue stream to a team which could provide free ongoing updates, why do why still have this system, plus a return of the original paid DLC model? | I miss to play Strike Playlist with THE SAME RANDOMS for hours... Posted: 18 Dec 2017 05:48 AM PST just wanted to share my thoughts right now... | Bungie, you're literally sitting on a Content GOLDMINE Posted: 17 Dec 2017 08:08 PM PST The Infinite Forest. A machine used to simulate everything. USE IT PLEASE. A fire team of 3 runs through the Infinite Forest and kills enemies to fill up a progress bar. Once that progress bar fills up to 100%, we get teleported to a random boss encounter. These bosses could be any Strike boss we've encountered so far in the games history... Aksor/Nixis, Valus Ta'aurc, Psion Flayers, Hive Abomination / Phogoth, Alak-hul, Sepiks Perfected, Taniks, Undying Mind, SABRE-2, Malok, Theosyion, Sekrion, Bond Brothers, Omnigul, Kovik and his Ogre Abomination, Protheon (Destiny 2), Brakion (Destiny 2), Savathun's Song Shrieker (Destiny 2), Thaviks (Destiny 2), Bracus Zahn (Destiny 2), Grask (Destiny 2)... Teleport us to the start of those boss encounters in the corresponding strike. When we take them down...give us the loot 'splosion. This would be an INCREDIBLE PvE GOLDMINE OF CONTENT. Yes, it is Diablo 3's Rift system more or less, but put your own spin on it with the Infinite Forest Daemons to unlock the next level of the Forest, Heroic Modifiers or something of the sort. EDIT: Thanks for the upvotes guys! There's so many different things they could come up with surrounding the Infinite Forest...I just thought that something like this could really go a LOOONG way towards giving us reasons to play. Perhaps with the upcoming expanded masterworks and mod system, they could tie some sort of material into completing this activity that we can use towards making mods or masterworks items... | Posted: 18 Dec 2017 08:18 AM PST Its SO sad that we've had the same types of enemies for 4 straight years. Even the DLCs use every excuse possible to reuse assets. Taken? you bet, they're just reused models, the Infinite Forrest? Great excuse to recycle current races. In fact, they've even collapsed the D1 Fallen and Cabal factions into either the House of Rain or the Red Legion/Loyalists in D2 for even LESS variety! Even a whole new game D2, didn't bring a new race or much variety in enemy types. I want to see new enemy types. The last DLC where there was anything different was the Rise of Iron's SIVA infected Iron Lords. One easy way (among many other ideas) for Bungie to do this is to add human bandits/enemies. I mean technically Humans are the 5th race. Humans have all the models, weapons, animations, ability assets all created. Why not make bandits or rogue guardian/risen factions an enemy type? Why are there not human enemies? Does the Vex not simulate normal humans in the Infinite Forrest, even if they can't simulate light? Does the Taken not induct nonguardian humans into its ranks? I want to see human enemies, Wild-Life enemies; the stalking sabertooth of Nessus, the tentacle lagoon monster of Titan. Whatever, just give us more enemy types. So tired of the same 4 races, the same reskinned enemies with same abilities. Other looters have enemy groups with randomized abilities (Diablo3, Borderlands 2). Why not give High Value Targets randomized abilities? Cabal HVT with 2 abilities from a pool of random abilities: Jump Jet, Body slam, AoE Ground Stomp, Health regen, Phalnx shield or Bulls charge. Every high value target will provide a different challenge to the player. [link] [comments] |

| Focused Feedback: Exotics: their usage, power and obtaining them Posted: 18 Dec 2017 05:01 AM PST Hello Guardians, Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower. We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard. This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding 'Exotics: their usage, power and obtaining them' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this Thread Below are some example posts of ideas / feedback already provided of which may be of interest regarding the topic:
Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome. Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the Sub as time goes on [link] [comments] |
| Bungie really phoned-in the armour "Ornaments" in D2 compared to what we had as Ornaments in D1. Posted: 18 Dec 2017 04:18 AM PST What we have in D2 as "ornaments" on the Vanguard, Crucible and even the Raid armour is not even comparable to what we D1 players have come to expect when hearing that term. The Wrath of the Machine ornaments had Siva exploding out of the elbows, knees, and head and left Siva swirling around those areas on our Guardians. Now, my PvP Titan Gauntlets have the spiky shoulder on the right instead of the left... Honestly Bungie, maybe you should have just called them "enhancements" or something. Leave the term ornament for something that is truly unique. I posted a link to a Byf video below for new Destiny players to see what "Ornaments" once meant. EDIT: The issue that I have with the ornaments is that their look is SO SUBTLE that anyone looking at someone decked out in Crucible ornaments would have no idea that there was any accomplishment tied to getting them. Having spikes move from one shoulder to the other, or adding a paint job to the same model is just lazy... [link] [comments] |
| Masterwork weapons have put the final nail in the coffin for exotic weapons. Posted: 18 Dec 2017 10:00 AM PST I love masterwork weapons, but their power to generate orbs has completely made exotics useless. They were bad before, but at least you could equip them and have a little fun. Now it is directly detrimental to you. Bungie what are you doing to improve exotics? [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 17 Dec 2017 08:27 PM PST There was a post earlier today that was telling people to not kill the boss too quickly as you won't receive Heroic Public Event rewards - this is actually incorrect. It is purely a text issue at the end which does not impact your rewards or completion credit. The post in question is here. The reasoning behind this is because if you kill the boss too quickly, you will only receive "Event Complete" at the end instead of "Heroic Event Complete". While this is a bug in itself, I can confirm that the rewards are not impacted by the bug, and it still gives you a Heroic Event Completion and correct XP rewards you normally would receive. Proof: For a Heroic Completion you receive 500 Personal Clan XP. For a Normal Completion you receive 250 Personal Clan XP. Here's 2 videos showing a Normal Completion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lT1XyDSmT8 (+250 Personal Clan XP) and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAQScldwhrs (+250 Personal Clan XP) Here's a video showing a Heroic Completion killed too quickly and having "Event Complete" appear: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmDDJNZ2IcY (+500 Personal Clan XP) Here's a video showing a Heroic Completion with proper completion text: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjLkugoMYfw (+500 Personal Clan XP) Lastly, a short video showing the boss being burned with "Event Complete" appearing, and showing the tracking emblem before and after: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9JFwY17QOE (no Clan XP gain as I'm capped for the week) The actual rewards themselves always have 2 chests, some tokens/blues, so it's hard to know with those for sure. But from a an XP gain perspective along with the tracking emblem, regardless of killing it too quickly or what completion text appears, you receive the appropriate credit for a Heroic Completion. tl;dr - Kill the boss as fast as you want. The completion text may appear incorrectly and is bugged, but it doesn't impact rewards or XP and still gives you the Heroic Event Completion when tracked by the emblem. [link] [comments] |

| Bungie, can we please have a "Treasure Here!" Emote? Posted: 18 Dec 2017 09:02 AM PST It's kind of frustrating to see other players walk by resource nodes or chests, even if you're pointing, waving, dancing, and emoting like Gjallarhorn just dropped on you. Can we please have an emote that just states "[Guardian] calls out a treasure to all Guardians" or something similar? Something very direct and obvious so that every player knows what's meant?
