Pokémon GO - Please Niantic don't make Ho-Oh an EX raid boss!

Please Niantic don't make Ho-Oh an EX raid boss!

Posted: 16 Nov 2017 07:20 AM PST

For the love of Pokemon if I see Ho-Oh become an EX raid boss I swear there will be even more upset fans than before. Players are already upset over Mewtwo and if they were to make more legendary raid Pokemon EX raid bosses then it's just going to get worse. Fans will also be upset if the EX raid legendary bosses rotate and players missed out on the chance to even battle the previous EX raid legendary boss.

Everyone keeps trying to theorize as to why low level players and inactive players have such an advantage in terms of getting an EX Raid Pass. Maybe it’s time we consider that the reason is simply this: money.

Posted: 16 Nov 2017 12:59 PM PST

Please hold your downvotes until after reading. I just think it's somehing to consider. Every round of EX Raid Passes that go out, it's the same story: the highest level, most active players are usually excluded while lower level or less active players receive passes. And, every round, people work hard to try and reason as to why this keeps happening. After all, Niantic specifically said that to be invited to an EX Raid, you need to have completed another raid in that same location. Raid as much as possible and you'll be rewarded. So it's natural that people would try and theorize why, at least so far, the opposite has held true.

I think it's time that we at least consider that money is the reason for this trend. The fact is, higher level and more dedicated players are likely going to keep playing regardless. They'll keep spending time in the game, and they'll keep spending money on raid passes, regardless of if they ever get a Mewtwo invite. On the other hand, lower level players are the people that Niantic is trying to hook. What better way than to tell them that the way they've played the game so far has been rewarded with a chance to capture arguably the 2nd most popular Pokémon ever? If they see that they've been rewarded for their play to that point, it stands to reason they might start playing even more often and spending more money to get more rewards. As for inactive players, especially formerly active players, EX raid passes and a chance at Mewtwo are a perfect way to bring them back.

The core audience is spending lots of money on passes and doing tons of raids, as is evidence by every EX Raid thread full of reports of people level 35+ who do multiple raids daily and have no EX invites. These same threads show talk about how there are people who quit the game months ago only to come back because they suddenly have an EX Pass, or how the lowest level players in a raid group are the only players selected, or how some EX Raids can't even be completed because only low level and/or inactive players are being invited and they don't have the necessary help to defeat the raid boss.

I don't want to believe this is true, that Niantic said that raiding as much as possible is the key to getting a pass but then turned around and punished the people who followed those instructions while rewarding those who didn't. But, financially, it makes a weird bit of sense. Those active players are active no matter what. The active, level 35-40(ish) players are always going to be there.. The people who have received the vast majority of raid passes, however, are the people who aren't giving Niantic their money...yet. Niantic doesn't need to give active high level players EX passes because they are already spending money. Niantic does need to give lower level and inactive players EX passes because they aren't spending money.

Mods: please don't delete this. I know Niantic may not care for this discussion, but I still think it's one that's warranted having.

Niantic Stop Screwing Over Australia.

Posted: 16 Nov 2017 04:02 PM PST

Been playing this game since the start but I must say I'm pretty p'd off at how Australia is constantly getting screwed over.

Firstly everything big that happens always happens at like 2-5am out time (Chicago live event, new event starts etc). I can get over that because for most people it's day time then, understandable.

But we have not had any special events of any kind. No safari zones, no Lapras or Snorlax event, nothing. We have no sponsored gyms which meant no Ex raids at the start and even now very minimal Ex raids.

And now, just as our summer begins and it's daylight until around 7:30 - 8pm, the last raids hatch at 6pm.

Most people (myself included) work until 6pm which means we can't get to more than maybe one or two raids if we're lucky. And now is the time with the warm evenings that we would love to be out raiding until 9pm.

When raids first started, the last raids would finish at 9pm. That was when the sun went down at 5:30pm and when a lot of the time the weather was crap and it was cold, windy and rainy.

So seriously Niantic, give us SOMETHING. Make our raids last until 9pm like they did in the beginning. Make some fun for those of us who work, because we are the people that will be lining your pockets buying premium raid passes and incubators when we actually have a reason to go out that isn't catching Pidgey and Natu repeatedly.

At this point, there is no hope for Ex Raids ever being popular (even after testing ends)

Posted: 16 Nov 2017 09:17 PM PST

I'm going to try my best not to make this just another rant or complaint post on Ex Raids, but I do want to know whether or not the community agrees with my observations.

Without a doubt, the overall sentiment with Ex Raids are extremely negative. Even if testing ends, and they bring out vast improvements to the point where its hard NOT to get an Ex Pass, I feel like people will still have a negative stigma against Ex Raids.

Unless Niantic does something along the lines of what they did for Pokemon Go Fest, i.e. give everyone a free Mewtwo and/or 1000 Premium Raid Passes, I feel like they will never get the public on board with Ex Raids... and its forever going to be a stain on the game.

I've seen this happen with unfavorable features in other games, yet Niantic seems to be the only one being persistent. I really do think that whats best for the game is for Niantic to just scrap it. Even with improvements, no one will like it save for a few who have gained the most from it by now.

I mean, I could be completely wrong. If Niantic "fixes" Ex Raids after testing ends, will you be on board? Or will you still hate it's existence in the game?

Gyms should have a high drop rate of revives and potions and pokestops should have a high drop rate of pokeballs

Posted: 16 Nov 2017 02:33 PM PST

There is an easy way for players to be satisfied with the amount of items they get from spinning a gym or a stop. If you think about it what is the main reason players go to gyms for? They go their to battle and what do you think they will need after the battle? Revives & potions and they should be the main items you get from gym spins. Players probably run out of pokeballs more than potions because the majority of the time playing you are catching Pokemon. It just makes sense to have items drop that way and separate the drops that people want.

Why Nick is the best Pokemon go YouTuber

Posted: 16 Nov 2017 06:42 PM PST

See his latest video today. He continually tries to make unique and interesting and still varied videos on Pokemon go. He's not afraid to make something different but yet it's still a compelling topic, still Pokemon go while having no Pokemon go game play, still compelling to the end, reiterates his thesis at the end, storytelling 101. No other Pokemon go YouTuber is even remotely as good as he is in video production and editing while remaining interesting for 10+ minutes. Like him or hate him, he's a character that isn't afraid.

Caught a Wild Togetic Today...was worried, but only took 3 Ultra Balls/2 Golden Razz to catch

Posted: 16 Nov 2017 11:11 AM PST

First time ever seeing a Togetic in the wild and of course Niantic goes mental and Error 14 pops up...had close out and restart the app...luckily it reappeared. I heard rumours about this thing being nothing more than a black hole for pokeballs, so I Ultra Ball/Golden Razz, Nice throw...a shake, then bust out...try again, but phone lag'd and I just throw the ball into the ground. 3rd one, golden razz, Great Throw, and catch. 750k into Level 39 and still seeing things I've never seen in the wild before. Now if I can just get an Ex-Raid pass.

So the question is are Togetic still the ball thiever and was I just lucky or have they calmed it down?

EA versus Niantic?

Posted: 16 Nov 2017 08:18 PM PST

With EA/Dice apologising and making changes to SWB2, because the players decided to complain about it and the way they was gouging them for money with the unlock system. Why hasn't this tactic worked for us with Niantic?

Lack of Revives

Posted: 16 Nov 2017 08:34 AM PST

I haven't seen a revive in 2 days and am now out. I'm gone through my bag twofold in poke balls and potions spinning disks. I've also done 4 level 5 raids in last 2 days-no revives for reward. Now I'm out of high CP to battle with. So frustrating..anyone else?

[Discussion] Out of revives and need a specific pokemon for a raid? Power them up!

Posted: 16 Nov 2017 08:53 AM PST

With the recent potion/revive shortage going on, I stumbled across this last night. When you power up a fainted pokemon, they are revived with the amount of HP increased by the power up.

Yes, this is possibly inefficient and [could] waste stardust, which is invaluable. But if you desperately need your fainted Espeon for that Machamp raid that ends in five minutes and are out of revives, it could help. Double bonus if you were going to eventually power up this hypothetical Espeon anyway.

I just wanted folks to know it's an available option should you need it. This may be super-widely known already, so forgive me if already reported numerous times.

tl;dr When you power up a fainted pokemon it revives them with the amount of HP they gained from the power up, possibly wasting stardust but saving you a revive item. Heal them up and they are good to raid/battle.

[Question] Fastest way to a gold gym?

Posted: 16 Nov 2017 07:20 AM PST

My apologies if this was been asked before. What is the fastest way to turn a gym gold? I had a Pokemon in a gym for over 2 weeks but it is still silver.

Any recommendations on strategy is appreciated! Thanks!
