Posted: 16 Nov 2017 12:11 PM PST Okay so someone steals your lane and you're stuck there thinking, "Welp here's another -25. I'm going Meepo jungle GG report teal." Something I recently learned, that I want to share with you guys, is that MMR is not about having fun; it's not even about winning! It's about playing to play well. If you're playing the game to win you'll get distracted by every mistake you or more importantly YOUR TEAM makes. It is important to go into every game thinking, "I am going to play well". Forgetting about wins/losses is a great way to maintain a PMA. And I promise, playing to play well will win you far more games than playing to win. I hope this helps someone! [link] [comments]
How to take advantage of having a 5 stack Posted: 16 Nov 2017 03:52 PM PST I finally got some friends into dota and they seem to have the basics down well and communicate but we lose about 75% of our games. What are some general tips for a 5 stack? (probably playing around 1000mmr in casual) [link] [comments]
| What could I have done to win this game Posted: 16 Nov 2017 07:36 PM PST Kunkka https://www.opendota.com/matches/3566026186 End of the game I have two Daedalus, BKB, and I'm blowing people up. Life is good. I'm thinking, I keep this up, my team will turn things around, and we can win. I get some nice kills, but... it isn't enough. I don't finish my Divine before they wipe us and win. | Played as a Storm and got destroyed Posted: 16 Nov 2017 07:19 PM PST The Match So i played storm this game and got absolutely destroyed in lane by an enemy sniper. His profile showed gpm xpm of 650+. So was this another one of those unwinnable games or could i have done anything better? [link] [comments] |

How to be good at Storm Spirit? Posted: 16 Nov 2017 12:46 PM PST My mmr is 1.4k. I'm very bad at Storm Spirit. I've watched guide videos (including Blitz), replays and tried to analyze them and replicate what I saw but I am still bad. First of all, my item timings are usually off by 2 minutes because I really struggle in lane most of the time. I'm decent at last hitting (I practiced it) and I know I can farm stacks in jungle. But I often get killed or zoned out anyway. I don't understand how you can stand mid as Storm against heroes with high spell damage and superior range pre-6. If I fall behind what should I do? Also I've noticed that good Storm Spirit players always get some early kills, but I almost always fail to do so (maybe I just can't see the opportunity and realize when I can kill someone). Furthermore, even when I did get my items in time and managed to snowball, I would still do a lot of mistakes later in the game. At this point I'm bad at decision making and can't get Storm's "game plan"/strategy down. Any advice would be appreciated. [link] [comments]

Are people making Bane a core now? Posted: 16 Nov 2017 05:42 PM PST Due to the 7.07 patch, Bane can attack enemy heroes under nightmare w/o waking them up. So, I was playing Bane today and under popular items, I saw MoM, Shadow Blade and Phase. I mean, I wouldn't judge a hero based on the popular items, but seeing those items under a support hero is shocking. Is Bane a suitable core hero? His damage would be insane, he has a low cooldown 7 sec stun, and his level 15 talent "Enfeeble Steals Damage". Thoughts on this? [link] [comments]
Posted: 16 Nov 2017 05:33 PM PST So like the title says after the most recent patch my dota 2 camera is zoomed in way to far and I can't figure out how to get it to zoom further out. Before the previous patch I had it at a distance I liked then came dueling fates and my camera got zoomed in. I found a tutorial online from like 2 years ago and followed it and it worked. heres the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlqpDAyLY8c Anyway today there was another patch and it seemed to reset my camera to be zoomed in again. I tried following the instructions in the tutorial again but the files seem to be moved around so I can't find the clinet.dll and input the camera distance again. I have tried messing with the resolution and stuff but it doesnt seem to be working. If anyone could help me out it would be much appreciated [link] [comments]
[Timbersaw] Skipping Bloodstone? Posted: 16 Nov 2017 04:54 PM PST Been searching guides and I saw some mavericks who are pushing for not rushing Bloodstone on Timbersaw for various reasons. Do we have maths or alternative items or set of items that can be an alternative to the mana/regen/health costs of BS? [link] [comments]
Io the Wisp talents in 7.07, a gimmick, or completely overpowered. Posted: 16 Nov 2017 06:05 AM PST Io was one of the heroes who's talents got shaken up the most, and now it has some really unique abilities. Looking at dotabuff, there is a very clear pick rate and win % increase favoring the left side of the talent tree. Pick rates are all 60% plus, and some of the win rates push +5%. This also happens to be where the crazy talents are. I've been messing around with Io a lot in Overthrow and Pubs, and even without great coordination, I feel like I'm having massive impact. +60 damage at level 10 is HUGE, and allows you to have a significant impact in fights besides just tethering from the back line. It also lets you farm a bit in the mid game when you're just pushing out a wave. Tether granting agh's bonuses at level 15 is also crazy. It lets you tag along with a hero who may not want to actually build their aghs in some games. Tether to Razor before he ults and let him push towers. Tether to Jakiro before a team fight and have huge area denial. Let sniper open a fight by ulting an entire team. It also allows your cores with decent agh's upgrades to not have to worry about it, picking up their carry items sooner. Level 20 seems to be the most OP though. Paired with a hero with decent attack speed and your level 10 +60 damage talent, Wisp becomes a tiny little turret. Level 25 with +50 regen... enough said. So I guess my question is, is Io really just that strong right now, or is it just a gimmicky way to get his pick rate up in pubs? To me, it feels like Io is probably going to be a top tier pick/ban in the next few tournaments. [link] [comments]
| Posted: 16 Nov 2017 06:19 AM PST I mean with this all status ressistance stuff i think every game i played vs a pudge is a loss since 7.07 and if i have a pudge on my team its a win is the hero that good now or is it just my dumb luck i still think hes super bad late game but ... | Posted: 16 Nov 2017 07:43 PM PST So I have been spamming Puck for good 10 games. I found that he is powerful at almost all stages of games. Early lanning: high damage can contest for the last hit. Mid game :maxed Q and W flash farm and late, that sweet sweet GPM talent. However when going for kills, I found it hard to kill people using dream coil since they changed it in new patch to only take damage after the coil is broken so I was thinking to build hurrican pike on this hero? ThoughtS? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 16 Nov 2017 03:43 PM PST I recently fell in love with pangolier and he's quickly becoming one of my most played hero (probably top 5 most played right now with 85% win rate). I heard a lot that he's an "anti carry", I can kinda see why after playing him a lot but I don't know what makes an hero "anti carry" in general, and who else is considered to be an anti carry? I feel like this is a role that I could enjoy a lot [link] [comments]
Posted: 16 Nov 2017 03:05 PM PST I do well enough but I feel underpowered. I buy soul ring, mana boots and grab a blink or forcestaff (usually FS) to slow enemies down who are running away. I heal well enough and time my ults right but I still feel underpowered. I pick up vlads and aghs but early game I feel useless except for healing. Any suggestions? [link] [comments]
Countering Ursa Mid as Invoker Posted: 16 Nov 2017 03:01 PM PST Hi I don't play a huge amount of invoker but I enjoy him and looking forward to playing him more and getting better. Today I played a match where I thought I was against an Arc Warden mid but it turned out to be Ursa. I (regrettably) bought a Null Talisman and some tangos (since I didn't get pulled any). I also went Exort. I got absolutely destroyed and this was then compounded by the fact they had a roaming Bara and SK so any time I showed up to lane after my initial laning phase went bad meant a pretty much instant death. My initial thoughts at the end of the game were had I known ursa was mid I would have got an orb and rushed phase boots which would have made last hitting a little more challenging initially. Also would probably have went QW. I definitely played awful and wasn't careful enough once Ursa was ahead but any tips on this match up generally? [link] [comments]
Posted: 16 Nov 2017 02:48 PM PST How do you harass while not drawing Aggro? I don't quite understand the mechanics. [link] [comments]
Question about bot games: How is it selected? Posted: 16 Nov 2017 02:35 PM PST When you attempt to load a bot game, there are a couple of different bot selections (default bot, ranked AI, pub simulator, etc). I've noticed that the selected bot type changes. Is that just some randomization going on, or is there a reason it selects different bots? [link] [comments]
Long story short, neither of you or the enemy will take any damage. Posted: 16 Nov 2017 06:05 PM PST However, activating Combo Breaker will negate outgoing damage from Counter Helix icon.png Counter Helix and Blade Mail icon.png Blade Mail for the duration of its effect. [link] [comments]
Posted: 16 Nov 2017 01:03 PM PST I tried really hard this game. I'm almost positive I'm the only reason my team won. We had a super hard start early game, and I managed to get us late game so that spectre could have farm, pudge could have flesh heaps, and clinkz and huskar, well they were just kinda there. Funnily enough, this was just a test game, I've never done BF juggernaut and wanted to try it. Worked well. I think my timing is alright, but it would have been a minute better. I had a death shortly before which put me back, and my eff@10 was <70%. So what else do you guys think needed improvement? This is 1k. I've been on a losing streak and I want to know what I need to get better at. https://www.opendota.com/matches/3565487592/overview [link] [comments]
Posted: 16 Nov 2017 11:46 AM PST The match ID is 3565535438. Would someone mind watching the replay and giving me some suggestions on what I could've done to win this game? [link] [comments]

Need advice on what to do with an early advantage Posted: 16 Nov 2017 10:17 AM PST I've noticed a trend in a few recent games of mine (Anti-Mage, Windranger, Anti-Mage) where I am able to get an early advantage over the enemy team/heroes but instead of translating that into a victory, I end up losing, and I just can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Any advice on what I'm doing wrong would be very helpful. Thanks :) [link] [comments]
Why can't people listen to tips and advice? Posted: 16 Nov 2017 11:55 AM PST I understand that in low mmr, people can be inexperienced and trying to learn the game. I'm fine with that. But why can't they be open minded and listen to advice? For example, I was playing support just now as a shaman and the other team had an spirit breaker who keeps charging everywhere in the map and their team was just pubtraining. I was trying my best to put up wards and encourage them that just play safe and don't engage fights and SB won't be as op when we got to mid-game. And what do I know? 10 min in, 25 deaths - 15 kills from SB alone. All because of my team kept farming the jungle by themselves and got picked off despite all the wards and vision I put up. At that point, I quit. There wasn't any point to continue the game. How do you guys dealing with this sort of stuffs? When people refuse to listen to tips or advice and continue stubbornly playing their way? [link] [comments]
| What could I have done better in this offlane wr game ? Posted: 16 Nov 2017 11:40 AM PST https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3565522022. Is there anything that i can do better? I picked wr offlane because i thought she could do well in lane, have good waveclear against enemy lineup and is good against huskar and od. However during the laning stage, i could barely get any exp as their supports only focus on zoning me out of the lane. In minute 10 i could only reach lvl4/5. Can anyone give me advice on what i could have done better? Or is there a better offlane hero that i could have picked? This is a average 3.9k party mmr game but their huskar is 5k.
