Are there any heroes extremely good against particular drafts/lineups? Posted: 15 Nov 2017 03:08 PM PST Heroes that if last picked into a particular lineup guarantees a win. For example, last picking chaos knight into an enemy team of single target heroes usually guarantees a win. Or axe into low hp, high attack heroes (huskar, pa, lc,etc) [link] [comments]
Hidden MMR new account "recalibration" in Turbo Mode Posted: 15 Nov 2017 08:38 PM PST I had a bunch of time to play Dota over the last couple of days, and decided to try out an experiment. I started two new accounts, played Turbo only, to see how long it would take to get back to my approximate MMR level. This all may change with the new system (we'll see) but may be an interesting datapoint. I'll probably retry a few times when the new matchmaking comes out. First account started at "I've played RTS before". https://www.dotabuff.com/players/484761165 Took about 13-14 Turbo games to get back to my approximate MMR level (VHS games around 4k) Second account I stated at "I've played DOTA 2 before". This one took about 12 games to get back to my approximate MMR level. https://www.dotabuff.com/players/484537897 I randomed almost every game on the first account (great 10 heroes that day). Randomed a fair bit the 2nd day on the 2nd account but the 10 heroes not as good (ugh first pick Meepo). Turbo mode seems like it can converge you very quickly to your true MMR. I'm primarily a support player at 4k, randomed a bunch of stuff / positions and got back to my approximate MMR level on two separate accounts in pretty quick dedicated sessions. Winrate doesn't seem as much a factor. I won like crazy the first day (great randoms, 80% winrate), not so much today (53% winrate) but still got back to my approximate MMR on both. Very few crazy stomps either, just normal gameplay for the most part. TLDR - If recalibrating a new account, think about turbo to get to where you think you want to be rapidly. [link] [comments]

Posted: 15 Nov 2017 07:31 PM PST Hi. I'm currently sitting at 3.4K SEA and been stuck here. I mostly play mid and carry heroes namely: tinker, invoker, storm, qop, AM, jugg, tiny, and spectre among others. I have a problem with early game laning and farming. I still think early game ends at 10 minutes and that as a carry i should afk farm. Typical cs is 30-35/10minutes. I'm having troubles balancing farming and last hit with harassing the enemy and i tend to play passively often leading to slow farm but sometimes playing aggressively leads to deaths thus slower farm. How do you accelerate your farming with horrible early game? Because a lot of players in my mmr likes to roam around as a support without helping me win lane or too aggressive that we end up both dying. My problem in mid heroes is knowing when to gank and winning lane. As i play storm i don't really gank, and can't judge when it is good to gank same with invoker, all i do is sunstrike. With tinker i gank after travels. Then i don't know how to farm fast. My item timings are slow. Like i finish arcane boots, bottle, kaya, wand on storm 17-18minutes my last game and around 25 minutes for bloodstone. Lastly item choices certain heroes What do i build as AM/storm if enemy team have many CC? Or weaver? How do i play? Tl;dr Help me with learning how to farm and win lane at the same time. When to gank, stay passive or aggressive in lane? Item choices vs heroes/CC as storm/AM [link] [comments]
How do supports work in Dota2? Posted: 15 Nov 2017 07:50 AM PST I'm a support main from LoL, have played Dota1 in the past but not so much in Dota2. I'm still unfamiliar with the range here (played a game where didn't notice Dwarven Sniper was already killing me) and not sure about how to play support here now. How often should I buy wards/what should I do early/mid/late game? How do I stack neutral creeps? When do I roam as Jakiro/Vengeful/Shadow Demon? If someone could give a link that summarizes a textbook for supports, that'd be cool. Thanks! [link] [comments]
| What about Beastmaster support? Posted: 15 Nov 2017 02:33 PM PST Beastmaster as a support. He is always played as an offlaner but when you think about it, he is kind of like Enchantress.
You roam harassing the enemy with your boar, right-clicks and axes. Ultimate should guarantee kills once you get it. You can still get necrobook same as always and push. The only thing you are missing is Impetus damage but I think Beastmaster more than makes up for it with everything he has. [link] [comments] |
Question about storm spirit nerf? Posted: 15 Nov 2017 05:23 PM PST Can explain what is the nerf to storm sprit at latest patch. Is kaya still good item on him?. what should i buy first and in which stuation (kaya vs bloodstone) and lastly which upgraded boots do u prefer and why. [link] [comments]

~1k MMR. Should I roam with BH or SB? Posted: 15 Nov 2017 05:38 AM PST I've been playing BH for quite some time, and I find him quite useful, but as the game progresses, I sort of feel like a bootleg Riki, where I can't do that much on my own and I also have to stay outside of fights, where as I see SB as a pubstomping hero. Pros/cons of each hero? [link] [comments]
Did i had a chance to win this game? Posted: 15 Nov 2017 10:17 AM PST https://dotabuff.com/matches/3563655544 i was as Kunkka and had 2 divines and 2 divines in the stash.I was taking off important heroes in the fight but my hc was dying the whole game [link] [comments]
| Having a hard time playing Terrorblade Posted: 15 Nov 2017 01:18 AM PST Terrorblade is giving me a hard time, whenever he is against me he gets out of control easily. Whenever i play him i need at least 40 minutes to carry my team, i don't know how to farm properly with him and how to choose proper items i need help with everything Terrorblade-related, if anyone got any clue on how to play him please tell me how.. | I'm Brainwashed When It Comes to Jungling Posted: 15 Nov 2017 07:16 AM PST So, with all this learning and guide-following and advice-asking I've been trying, one thing has been abundantly overstated--jungle is bad. The reasons make sense, too. No camps til minute one, vastly decreased gold gain, negative impact on every lane, potential feeding to enemy roamer(s), and maybe something else I'm forgetting. Point is, jungling to start and choosing it over a lane is usually terrible. My problem is, that's all I know. Yet somehow jungling to farm is a good idea at times? And knowing that lanes are unsafe has something to do with it? Or when you need to catch up on farm as a carry? I'm very unsure about how this applies to a game. If I see a teammate in the jungle, my mind automatically thinks he's being useless to the game and is detrimental. How do I understand when I/my team needs to farm the jungle? When to prioritize catching up in farm as opposed to teamfighting/pushing lanes? When is a good time to look at jungling after a won lane? Lost lane? Should I farm the jungle if we are getting boxed in, with only T3's left? It's not necessary to answer all the questions, especially without context (I can give matches if it helps, but I don't know what situation to pinpoint). Ultimately, I want help in determining when the jungle is a good idea, since right now it always looks like a bad idea. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Question about farming patterns Posted: 15 Nov 2017 12:55 AM PST After thinking about it, I realized I don't know what the term really means. Is it something that stays similar throughout various games, or is it something you have to come up with in a match itself? Can I practice the same farming patters vs bots and expect higher GPM/XPM in pubs, or do I have to improvise depending on the enemy lineup? I ask this because in a lot of high level coaching videos and such, I've seen people mention things like keeping your farming pattern focused around rosh pit when playing against Ursa/Huskar, or if the enemy team has a gank heavy lineup that wants to invade my jungle, I should follow a farming pattern that goes through their jungle since its actually the safer place in such a scenario. I hope someone can help me out with this. [link] [comments]
What is the deal with blademail, I feel like it's just a waste of gold Posted: 15 Nov 2017 06:22 AM PST If I'm taking a lot of auto attacks then blademail is supposedly a good choice, right? But I feel like it basically does nothing. Like a PA blinks in to attack me, I pop blademail and she just destroys me anyway, taking like no damage. It's not because she's just farmed out of control, there have only been a few times where I was like "I just lived/got a kill because of blademail". [link] [comments]
Posted: 15 Nov 2017 12:04 PM PST I can't seem to figure this out. Also if I am Queuing up for Co-op matches are there any tricks to reduce the waiting time? I usually do medium difficulty and sometimes hard. Thank you. [link] [comments]
What do they mean when they say the counterpick is too cute? Posted: 14 Nov 2017 08:49 PM PST I've been watching dota vods and don't understand what they mean when the enemy pick chooses a hard counter and they comment that they think they're being too cute. what does it mean and why is it bad? Also what does it mean when they say they need a 'do something' hero. is it like an initiator? Im watching hamburg major and they say things like this a lot. [link] [comments]
How to lane against a trilane? Posted: 15 Nov 2017 08:32 AM PST Been looking at videos on how to survive the offlane. Most just say to buy iron talon and try to jungle. Now that iron jungle has been nerfed and iron talon has been removed, what should i do? [link] [comments]

What could AM do to swing this game? Posted: 15 Nov 2017 06:58 AM PST https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3563170614 This was a 3.6k game. I personally felt that a lane swap was necessary the moment the safe lane was met with an offensive tri lane but that's hard to accomplish if it was a solo ranked game. What could he have done to have a bigger impact this game given how bad lane phase went? [link] [comments]

What to do after the lane phase? Posted: 15 Nov 2017 04:44 AM PST Hi guys, i have been strugling with this question my whole life. My lane phase is usually perfect ( almost all my games i manage to kill the enemy at my lane and stay 1,2 or 3 levels above everyone else in the game). After the lane phase you have to put your farming paterns to pratice and for me its simple ( farm any lane when its safe because you get more xpm and gpm and then go farm jungle when its not possible to farm any lane). And now its my problem... I dont know what to do past lane phase. Some games you need to be agressive in order to win and carry your team and usually i lose this games because i dont know how to snowball. Can anyone help a fellow friend here? Thanks [link] [comments]
