We were playing some games when a friend started hahaa-ing im like brb, made this in about 5 minutes then we looped it while playing and laughed our asses off.

Thank you Habadacus for the nearly hour long brawl!

Posted: 25 Nov 2017 12:28 AM PST

I added you after the game but let's be honest, no one accepts friend requests in Hearthstone. I just want to say, that was the hardest I have ever fought for a win, and man what a game it was. We went back and forth for ever, you slowly chipping away at me, while I was summoning all of my value plays to keep myself alive, while you got bigger and bigger with armour. Eventually, I knew you had me beat. You had nearly 60 health with the armour, I had 10. You had 9 damage on board. "Well played" I said to you. You dealt 9 damage. "Well played" you said to me.

And then you passed.

From 1 health, with a combination of luck and great deck building, I used priest of the feast and the low cost spell cards I had to build myself back up again. That one card that's like arcane blast with lifesteal. Inner firing everything. Over the rounds, I slowly managed to climb back out of the danger zone to get to around 15 health. "Wow!" you said. "Thank you" I said. We continued the game.

It was like David versus Goliath. I was glued to my seat, contemplating each play like I was some sort of legend pro. I slowly, but surely fought for board control. I'd remove all your minions, you'd throw them back up. Han'cho buffing your cards every other turn. But then, I began clearing them faster than you could put them up. Lyra, Evil Anduin, Volazj, and so many priest of the feasts. Then, after nearly an hour of play, with nearly 50 cards in each of our decks, I was able to do it. Strike the final blow. I did my math twice, just to make sure.

"Well played"

"Well played"

And just as suddenly as it began, it was over. The hour long brawl. A tale I'll tell my grandchildren. Or, at least I'll probably snapchat my friend about it and forget it ever happened.

Still, fun game.

EU Down

Posted: 25 Nov 2017 07:13 AM PST

EU is down now I wrote something here so this is no longer no effort post

EDIT: Was in Brawl game doing Brawl quest. Seemed that both me and my opponent were disconnected. I reconnected at some point but it was obvious that my opponent was still dc'ed. Last night same thing happened to 2 of my opponents. EU is a graveyard and people want expansions hit EU and NA at the same time...

I think I know why there haven't been any other Warlock card reveals yet.

Posted: 25 Nov 2017 07:35 AM PST

Can't you guys see? I never thought they'd push Discardlock this hard, but here we are. The Legendary weapon for Warlock must straight up discard the entire class. Not sure if it counts towards the quest, though. Either way, nerf to Priest and Rogue, they can't get Warlock cards anymore - maybe that's a buff?

Top Cards of the Week from /r/customhearthstone (11/25/2017)

Posted: 25 Nov 2017 09:10 AM PST

Album

Happy Thanksgiving to my neighbours in the south, hope you all had a good time with your family and feasts. Hope you also still have some room for some custom cards from /r/customhearthstone.

I'll give a quick shoutout to our weekly design competition for this week as well. (Finally) we've gotten to the theme of the new mechanic, Recruit and encourage you all to participate in the contest in designing your own cards around this keyword. I wouldn't be surprised if a few of the entries turn out to be real cards but they'll certainly all be interesting to browse through none the less.

I still don't get why the made Explore Un'Goro make you discover cards from any expansion, which doesnt create the feeling of "exploring Un'Goro".

Posted: 24 Nov 2017 03:02 PM PST

I mean. The card is meant for fun purposes mostly, but discovering a card from any expansion is not just barely flavorful, but a bit boring cause you discover old cards and such. Explore Un'Goro could have worked only with Un'Goro cards, just like Elise, and being TONS more flavorful. It simply gives you an odd expectative of what the card should do. Seems like they could have gone either way, but they choose to made it from any expansion for some reason.

Disenchanting legendaries should give you 500 dust, and crafting them should cost 1500

Posted: 25 Nov 2017 02:58 AM PST

Currently to craft 1 legendary you need to disenchant 4, which is a bit expensive. Making them 500 dust would also help the f2p players who rarely get them.

The main reasons why I am quitting Hearthstone: The game rewards you for the wrong reasons and hasn't improved much in the last 2 years.

Posted: 24 Nov 2017 09:42 AM PST

Warning: wall of text tends to crit people

Hey guys, fairly long time player here, been playing since around the release of Blackrock Mountains, doing my dailies mainly uninterrupted, and reaching rank 5 as much as I could for the golden epic.

I am quitting for a host of reasons, most of which come from the fact that Blizzard, during all those years I have been playing, have mostly failed in bringing the game up to par with what it should be (in my opinion).

  • That is mostly personal but I am just tired of playing a game which forces me to login almost daily.

It's also why I am not playing Heroes of the Storm anymore. I realized that recently, I was only logging in to complete my quests, and rarely ever got to play truly for fun. Even when ranking up, I realized I was doing it for something, the golden epic, instead of, you know, having fun playing a game, which brings me to...

  • The game actively tries to prevent players from playing for fun.

Everything you do in this game pushes you to win your games if you want to maximize your rewards. Now I perfectly understand why ranked play should revolve around wins, but why the rest? Heroes of the Storm, for example, has mostly "play games" daily quests. Overwatch gives out rewards mostly based on games played/playtime. Thus, you can play and feel like progressing instead of being forced into always being competitive if you don't want to have the feeling that whatever you're doing right now, it's not really effective.

Play 30 murlocs or quests like that are just boring so they hardly qualify as "fun". Why can't we just have daily quests based on played games?

Look at it this way: If you win 30 games in a day you get 100 gold (which is absurdly low but whatever), while if you lose 30 games you get nothing! What the hell? Take the Tavern Brawl too. Isn't this supposed to be a mode for fun? Then why is the only Tavern Brawl-related quest in the game a Win 5 Tavern Brawl quest? Also, why is winning the requirement to get a weekly pack? Why am I required to win in a fun/RNG Fest mode? In normal modes, I have countless fun and meme decks I wanna try out but I never will because they lose almost all the time against competitive decks (which most people are playing -- can't blame them), and losing means I get less amount of gold, which means less cards I can purchase, which means less fun decks to try out with those cards I will never have... It's a negative feedback loop!

  • The modified release schedule increased the cost of the game way too much.

Back when it was 2 expansions + 1 adventure per year I had about 4 months during the year (after a $20 purchase which I felt was well worth it) to catch up on the previous expansions and gather some cards before the next release. Now, it's a completely different story. I have a huge collection and even then, the list of cards I want is ever-growing, and is soon reaching the 40,000 dust territory (I play both standard and wild). I purchased all the adventures, pre-ordered an expansion once, and purchased a few 7-packs as well as the welcome bundle but I still am missing so, so many cards I want it's not even funny.

They're releasing them way too fast and with too many Epic and Legendary cards. In fact, the whole dust system was balanced with only Classic in mind and now it's just completely outdated for the amount of cards there are in the game. I don't even want a complete collection since this is hilariously out of reach, I just want to have a better ratio of legendaries per expansion than, like, 7 out of 20... I play almost every day for god's sake, I have been playing for 2.5 years, I also put like $150 into this game! And yet, I counted recently and there are around 5 legendaries I'd like to have in each current Standard expansion... That's a lot of dust, more than I could get it in the following year even if they stopped releasing new content altogether.

And that's without mentioning Epics, which are also ridiculously rare.

At that point I just looked at this and said 'fuck it' which is basically what I'm doing right now.

I would like to point out in advance to those who are gonna say "but CCGs are expensive!" that it's completely different with a digital card game. When I quit MTG I sold all of my cards for a nice $4,800, a big ROI as I purchased most of them in the late 90's and early 2000's, they weren't worth much back then. Yes, I know, they'd be worth like $20,000 today but whatever, I needed the money. Even now, purchase an MTG deck second-hand, play it for a while, sell it, you lose almost nothing. You can even make money, in fact.

Try doing that with Hearthstone... good luck with that as you don't even own your cards by the way, read the terms of agreement.

  • Since when I started playing, the game hasn't improved much.

Back then, the Tavern Brawls had just gotten introduced. I figured more stuff was to come in the coming years... Well, I was wrong. Nothing much has been added to the game in the 2 and a half years I've been playing except monetarized content (expansions, adventures, cosmetics). Now, I know that a company's goal is to make profits, I actually am the co-owner of a company so I know what it entails. But a company also has to innovate, to always push forward its own momentum through innovations, through features. What I'm talking about here are things that don't lead to a direct $$$ deposit in your corporate bank account but that increase the intrinsic value of your products.

The new game mode looks decent, but it's single player and doesn't give any rewards so yeah... A small step in the right direction, but not enough for me.

And finally,

  • The gameplay relies heavily on RNG fiesta and I'm getting tired of it.

It also doesn't seem to get any better as apparently, 44% of the revealed cards so far have a random element to them

The way they designed the game and their over-reliance on mobile also limits their design space enormously so it most likely won't change in the near future. So many cool mechanics will never make it into the game like "search your deck for x card, put it into your hand", any graveyard usage, cards that can target 2 or 3 targets at once, hand-buffing that's not random, and a lot, lot more.

I'm not saying I'm right, I'm saying that this is how I see the situation with my game experience playing Hearthstone, and for the reasons above, I think Blizzard have got enough of my money, and my time, it's time to look elsewhere.

Maybe a Hearthstone 2.0 release with lots of new stuff and a revamped engine could be a good move for the game, I don't know, but for now, this is it.

Thanks to the team nevertheless since I've enjoyed Hearthstone immensely for a while, just not anymore.

Have fun guys, and take care!

Prediction: K&C will mess up arena

Posted: 25 Nov 2017 04:04 AM PST

The trend this expansion seems to be towards higher card complexity. This sounds great for constructed but might make arena underwhelming. With recruit, upgrade, unidentified, the new mechanics seems to lead to understated minions or high variance that isn't controlable in arena.

Anyone worried for the game mode? Time to return to wild arena to dilute the card pool?
