The new Battle Rifle is too inconsistent.

Why can't they just reduce the effective range of aim assist // remove the aim assist after a certain range instead so people will only use it at its intended range?

The Magnum is literally superior now.

For example (Numbers not exact):

  • Within 40 metres, the BR aim assist will be active.

  • Going over 40 metres will turn off aim assist, making it harder to shoot.

This will allow Spartans to only use the BR at its intended range as using it at long ranges will not be optimal due to no aim assist.

Aim assist does make a huge difference. Try shooting your friendly teammate and it is very difficult.

Has 343 acknowledged the out of control lag?

Between the spikes and broken BR multiplayer is practically unplayable right now.

If you hate the new AR...

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 10:51 AM PDT

Aim for the head after you pop your opponent's shields. They increased headshot damage by like 200% and decreased body damage. It can kill in like 2-3 headshots. If you do that, you'll be able to out gun a Magnum or someone with an AR bodyshotting in close to near-mid range. (Not trying to be a dick and sorry if this is stating the obvious I'm just trying to help people who might not know yet.)

People were discussing about how COD:WW2 had the worst launch ever and someone mentioned MCC, what happened at the launch of MCC?

Why it was worse than COD:WW2?

Are Halo 5 servers still active?

Posted: 05 Nov 2017 12:07 AM PDT

I'm thinking about picking up Halo 5. Haven't play video games in years and just got back into them. Found a collectors edition for $50 and wanted to know if the servers were still active that I could even play the game.

The new AR is actually really good. Managed 53 kills in 3 games of Oddball.

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 09:21 AM PDT

I've been seeing people complaining about the new AR being weak, its actually extremely strong in the right context. Get within a good range, pop the shields by aiming center mass, then aim for the head. According the Waypoint post, its 13 shots for a 'perfect' kill and 20 shots for an 'standard' kill (all shots to the body, none miss).

I managed to get 13 kills, 17 kills, and 23 kills in 3 games of oddball. I was intentionally trying to use the AR as much as possible, would still use grenades and melees when I thought it made sense. Typically play at a high diamond or low onyx level. I would usually get destroyed at medium to far range and I could typically only get one kill before having to reload so it did have its drawbacks.

Here are the Halotracker games, look for the first three games on 11/4/17, on Riptide, Plaza, and Truth (note, the plaza game had a teammate quit early, then a second one later).

The weapons are much more niche after the update, most do seem to be 'worse' but so far it still seems like each weapon has its use, its just that those uses are limited and specific.

For more examples of people complaining about the AR, check the discussion thread and just ctrl+f "AR " (with the space after), search through the results, most people seem to call it weak or something else bad.

Halo 5 Blurry Image after 4K Update- My Theory on Why It Looks 720p on non-4K TVs

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 09:19 PM PDT

Here is some in-game footage after I downloaded the update and started playing some BTB yesterday (some of you may have seen it as I have posted it several times since in the Halo subreddit in different threads).

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x67l01q

I tried playing again today, and it seemed to work much better- no noticeable frame drops at all, it plays entirely smoothly.

However, the graphics are still worse than they were before the 4K update. The textures are much blurrier than they were before the update, and it honestly looks like 720p now. I don't have a 4K tv.

My theory is that since my TV is just regular HD, and since the game (before the update) matched its resolution with my TV (since both were 1080p), all textures were displayed as they were supposed to- every pixel displayed on my TV was one that was supposed to be there, as the resolutions matched.

However, since the game is now 4K, there are 3-4 pixels (I don't know the ratios) the game is trying to display for every pixel that my TV has (and whoever else has standard 1080p TVs). So what ends up happening is that those 3-4 pixels are displayed as the colour that they all blend to- making everything blurrier, and making it have less definition than if the game was in 1080p, because all the textures are actually blends of what they're supposed to be, not the actual textures.

Does this make sense to the tech-savvys out there?

ie., 343 give us the option to switch the game's resolution from 4K to 1080p.

MCC Forge Map Recommendations?

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 05:10 PM PDT

Hey guys, I'm having a LAN Party in a few days time on MCC (wish me luck...) and I was wondering if any of you guys had made or knew of minigames or other maps in Forge that we could play? It's going to be pretty casual so it doesn't have to be anything too competitive.

What should 343 do next?

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 08:39 PM PDT

What do you feel 343 should do for the Halo story line? Obviously they need to finish what they started but should they continue with the Cortana story or should they focus on something else entirely?

Seems like there's so much map on Temple WZA that goes unused. Could it be forge into a BTB map?

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 08:24 PM PDT

There's so much space on Temple's WZA variant that just doesn't get any traffic at all, ever, in WZA matches.

Could 343 or forgers use that asset to make a Sanghelios BTB map? Because that would be sick.

Its a really pretty canvas.
