Weekly /r/Games Discussion - What have you been playing, and what do you think of it? Posted: 05 Nov 2017 01:08 PM PST Please use this thread to discuss whatever you've been playing lately (old or new, any platform, AAA or indie). As usual, please don't just list the names of games as your entire post, make sure to elaborate with your thoughts on the games. Writing the names of the games in bold is nice, to make it easier for people skimming the thread to pick out the names. Please also make sure to use spoiler tags if you're posting anything about a game's plot that might significantly hurt the experience of others that haven't played the game yet (no matter how old or new the game is). Since this thread is likely to fill up quickly, consider sorting the comments by "new" (instead of "best" or "top") to see the newest posts. For a subreddit devoted to this type of discussion during the rest of the week, please check out /r/WhatAreYouPlaying. [link] [comments] |

Ghost of Tsushima - What we know so far Posted: 06 Nov 2017 04:55 AM PST Trailer link >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUz539AeC5Y One of the major announcements at Paris Games Week was Ghost of Tsushima, a brand new IP from Sucker Punch. You may know Sucker Punch as the studio behind the inFamous series, but this new game is very much in contrast to the comic book-esque superhero antics of its flagship series. Instead, Ghost of Tsushima is an open world adventure game set in Feudal Japan - no neon powers or sucking smoke from chimneys in this one then. Here's everything we know so far about Sucker Punch's brand new game: Fast facts
Ghost of Tsushima is an open world adventure game set in Feudal Japan The trailer was captured in-engine, but doesn't show off much gameplay. As you can see from the launch trailer above, it doesn't give much away about the gameplay content you can expect from Ghost of Tsushima. "All of what's shown in our debut trailer was captured in our game engine, that's the interactive world we're painstakingly crafting together, that's the world we're going to set on fire," adds Fox. "The artists and engineers here at Sucker Punch have brought this world to life on PlayStation 4, from tall grass blowing in the wind to the call of a far off crane, we want to make it feel real." What we do know about the gameplay is that there's going to be a lot of samurai action. You're playing as a samurai who's tasked with battling overwhelming odds against the incoming Mongol Empire. The leader of the Mongols, who you'll see and hear in the trailer, is described by Sucker Punch as an "uncomfortably reasonable killer", which make us incredibly intrigued as to the game's overarching storyline. Apparently as the last samurai, you're going to have to abandon your honourable tactics of old to forge a new way of fighting - literally, the 'Way of the Ghost'. Aaah, that explains that title then. The trailer shows off just some of the weapons and gameplay features, including katanas, longbows and armoured horses. At the moment, it's very much all we know about what you'll be doing in the game, but expect lots of blood, blades, and battling. There's no release date yet Sucker Punch hasn't yet even put a vague year on its shiny new game, let alone any kind of release window. The studio has this to say on the matter: "We're excited to finally be able to talk about the game and look forward to sharing more in the coming months," says Fox. "Keeping it a secret for so long has been painful. The trailer is the perfect way to share with the world what we've been dying to play for so many years—fighting back invaders in feudal Japan, mastering the katana and building your legend as 'the Ghost'." Additional info Ghost of Tsushima interview link >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HftJIAiidMo Part of buying into the fantasy of becoming a samurai is building the island of Tsushima. The team behind Ghost of Tsushima says there won't be waypoints driving you to the more interesting places on the island. "I think player choice in this game will mean something very different than other games we've made in the past," explained art director Jason Connell. "We really want you to have the choice of, 'Hey, that cool bamboo forest over there, I really want to check it out. I want to head in that direction and I want to see what it is.' There's no waypoint. There's no thing that says 'Go here and look at this bamboo forest'. We just, hopefully, are presenting something that is beautiful and exotic, that's different than the current place you might be in. That'll come as a world choice. Where do I want to go?" "In this game, we let you explore what it is to be a samurai in this enormous landscape of medieval Japan," said Fox. "And now it's just up to us to actually deliver this fantasy." Thanks for reading. Hope you learned a thing or two you didn't know about this game yet :) Credits to Sam Loveridge & Mike Williams. Thankyou for helping and putting this information together! Statistics for Steam games released between 2017/10/16 to 2017/10/22 Posted: 05 Nov 2017 10:50 PM PST Hello there :) Here's an infographic I put together that shows some stats for all the games released on Steam between the 16th and 22nd of October: https://imgur.com/C2CLWHG The new South Park is the top game this week although it doesn't appear to be rating as well as its predecessor did. That's reflected somewhat in the ongoing stats with it down to around 5% of its average concurrent player base 2 weeks on (typical AAA only goes down by 50%). Icey makes the top of the trending charts because of its bundle with the Steam Link. Of course many enterprising Steam players also refunded the game right after buying it so they could get a Steam Link for the low low price of $1 but it seems many who decided to keep it actually enjoyed the game immensely. If you, like me, were unaware of this don't fret as it seems to have been a US only deal. I'm always looking for ways to improve this infographic so if you've got any feedback or tips let me know! Also love to hear what you think about this week's releases :D [link] [comments] |
