(Civ 6) Choral Music: The underrated, underappreciated follower belief that the AI always seems to pass over

Posted: 27 Nov 2017 03:17 PM PST

So, does anyone else love the Choral Music follower belief? In every game that I play, no matter when it is that I get a religion (assuming I do manage to grab one, of course) Choral Music is available; the AI almost always snags Warrior Monks, or Reliquaries, or Jesuit Education (and usually Feed the World too, randomly)...but never Choral Music.

In case you haven't had the joy of choosing Choral Music yet, it provides culture output for Shrines and Temples equal to their faith output (not subject to doubling, alas). So like Feed the World, but with culture instead of food.

Basically, build a shrine and temple, your city gets +6 (!) culture.

So while Feed the World basically provides you with food equal to one abundantly productive food tile, Choral Music provides you the equivalent of a well-placed Theater Square (think +2 adjacency) with an amphitheater and art museum. I mean...damn!

Now obviously you aren't going to get GPP points towards artists and writers, and won't get additional bonuses from art works and writings, but if you're not planning to go for a culture victory, choosing Choral Music means you essentially don't have to worry about theater squares at all. In the early to mid game, even a moderate number of well-developed Holy Sites will send you flying up the Civics Tree.

Warrior monks may be cooler, but Choral Music is more game-breaking, in my opinion. And like I said, it's always there for the taking.

Civilization Update/Features Idea- Pax Americana

Posted: 27 Nov 2017 04:12 PM PST

I was playing Civ TSL recently, when I realized how few North American wonders there were. As a red-blooded 'Murican, here are my suggestions for possible wonders. I would also hope for some Native American Civilizations to go with it.

The Crazy Horse Memorial Pastures give amenities and give culture. must be built on mountain tile
"My lands are where my dead lay buried." -Crazy Horse

The Panama Canal Allows naval movement through this tile, also gives gold. must be built on a 'canal' tile
"Who's Britannica to tell me that the Panama Canal was built in 1914? If I want to say that it was built in 1941, that's my right as an American." -Stephen Colbert

The Empire State Building Something for city center and district adjacency. must be built on flat land adjacent to a city center and Commercial district
"Conservatives actually do come out of Manhattan." -Donald Trump

The Alamo Mission Gives military defense and culture. can only be built on flat land, your civ must have been a target for a declaration of war
"Remember the Alamo!"

The CN Tower must be built adjacent to a city center and on the coast
"With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!" -O' Canada

U.S.S Arizona Memorial You gain no war weariness or warmonger penalties on a civ that has declared a surprise war on you. Must be built on a coastal tile adjacent to a Harbor, your civ must have been the target of a surprise war
"I believe that I interpret the will of the Congress and of the people when I assert that we will not only defend ourselves to the uttermost, but will make it very certain that this form of treachery shall never again endanger us." -Franklin Delano Roosevelt

Please give thoughts and ideas.

Does multiplayer on Civ 6 perform better than civ 5?

Posted: 27 Nov 2017 07:42 PM PST

I really enjoy playing civ 5 with friend but damn it just sucks after we get lot's of units on the map cause the turns start taking upwards of 2 to 3 minutes to load. I was just wondering if civ 6 has that same issue or not cause we may get i civ 6 when it goes on sale next time.

[Civ 6] How the hell does one win a Science Victory?

Posted: 27 Nov 2017 06:37 PM PST

I have tried Sumer for the Ziggurats, Kongo for ignoring religion,Japan for Meiji Restoration, Germany for Production fueled Campuses...might have tried just about everything I can think of. But inevitably, I always win via Culture at some point. I have tried fueling faith into Scientists and getting only GPT and Science based Wonders, but still always with the Culture win. Is it possible to do without disabling that victory type? Any gameplay tips you guys have?

Thanks!

I feel like this YouTube channel could help modders

Posted: 27 Nov 2017 06:22 PM PST

I noticed how many modded civilizations have leaders that look out of place. Then I remembered about this guy who made a very convincing fake of rayman in smash 4. I feel like going through this guy's content could give modders very useful tips on how to copy a game's art style.

Ocean wonders with city not on coast?

Posted: 27 Nov 2017 05:45 PM PST

Ok I'm pretty sure I can build royal dockyard even though my London is 1 time away from coast but I initially was thinking I could still build colodsus and great lighthouse or do they need to be in a city that is directly on the coast?
