Mids of 7.06e

Posted: 03 Jul 2017 08:24 AM PDT

I feel like I have a grasp of what heroes are strong in every position except for mid after 7.06e.

In the TI Qualifiers the most popular mid heroes were:

1) QOP - 128 games

2) Puck - 122 games

3) Lina - 104 games

The next most popular pure mids were Storm (41 games) and TA (38 games). I think this data shows it was a very top heavy qualifier with these 3 heroes. A few quibbles, heroes like Razor (66 games) who can be played mid but mostly another role are up there. Puck can also be run offlane but mostly is mid. So without bothering to go through every game, my numbers are a little off, but hopefully point us in the right direction.

Anyway QOP, Puck, and Lina all just got the Icefrog treatment in fairly material ways. So my question is what are the meta mid heroes of 7.06e which will likely be the TI patch?

How to make the enemy regret their picks ?

Posted: 03 Jul 2017 08:31 AM PDT

Countering is a huge principle in dota that it can mean a win and a loss game. I wanna know the following heroes counters, and how do they match up against the mentioned hero.

Sven, Ember Spirit, Morphling, Weaver, Troll Warlord (lategame), Invoker, Necrophos (seriously Ghost Shroud should be nerfed), Qop, Techies Bristleback, Legion Commander (lategame)

Invoker vs bloodseeker mid?

Posted: 03 Jul 2017 07:17 AM PDT

Ok so im ~4.9k and recently i've seen an increase in bloodseekers mid. Does anyone know how to play against it usually he just gets thirst stacks from other lanes and can just run you down with bloodrage and just offset any harras and take all cs in lane due to bloodrage heal +dmg.

I just moved to Seattle and am trying to pick the best internet provider for DotA. Any tips are helpful!

Posted: 03 Jul 2017 01:52 PM PDT

All the apartments I'm looking at offer Comcast Xfinity or Wave G. I'm not sure which will be better for DotA or even really what to consider when looking for an internet provider with respect to DotA.

Should I be concerned about data caps? Stability? How much speed do I really need for DotA? Does being in Seattle where the us west servers are affect any of this?

Comcast offers (up to) 250 Mbps download and Wave G offers (up to) 1Gbps.

Any advice will be helpful! Thanks!

Position 4 Brewmaster

Posted: 03 Jul 2017 05:32 AM PDT

So I believe its been played once or twice in the TI qualifiers, although I don't know which games.

How does pos 4 brew work and how is the playstyle different from a mid/offlane brew?

Against what lineups can you pick it?

How does the item/ability build differ from a regular brew?

Also, if anyone can link the games it was played for TI qualifiers that would be fantastic.

Thanks!

Dealing with silences as Lifestealer

Posted: 03 Jul 2017 12:00 PM PDT

Anyone else find enemy teams with orchid carriers/silences awkward to deal with as Lifestealer? Not being able to rage really hurts the hero both defensively and offensively, but there doesn't seem to be any item that's great for the hero that deals with it.

BKB - Redundant active, poor stats, long cd (55s at lowest duration)
Manta - OK stats but not anything you're super happy about as a strength hero. 30s cd. Most expensive option at 5k gold
Lotus Orb - Some nice armor/mana regen but seems possibly not that amazing on the hero. 4k gold, 15s cd
Euls - Listing it since it is technically an item that would dispel, but this doesn't seem like it would ever be a real option.

I've tried BKB and super regretted it. Anyone ever consider lotus? If you need the dispel that badly is Manta probably just the best out of some bad options?

When do you buy Eul's on a non-core hero?

Posted: 03 Jul 2017 03:16 PM PDT

The most common users are Lina and Invoker, who benefit from all of its points: using the active to set up spells, need the mana regen to spam their abilities, are right-clickers who benefit from the bonus damage, and have multipliers that benefit from the base movement speed. Most of these things are also true for Jakiro and Puck, who also build Eul's frequently.

For everyone else, when do you build a Eul's scepter? Especially as a pos 3/4/5 hero, when is it worth it to spend 2700 for this item?

SECRETLY NERFED BY PRNG

Posted: 03 Jul 2017 02:48 PM PDT

so recently i was checking the wiki's page for the pseudorandom. i think it has many quirks players dont know much about.

everybody knows that the chance to proc goes up on a streak of not proccing. this is a linear increase that follows until a point of guaranteed proc is met. for example if you manage to succesfully hit under the effect of blinding light, the following attack will definitely be a miss.

it may sound good but in long term blinding light causes 66% miss rate. because it starts with 50%. you can check wiki pages for the projected and the statiscal rates.

as a player who frequently plays mid kunkka, i was wondering about double daedalus' crit chance even though i assumed them to be 51%. wiki isn't very clear about items stacking so i assumed a couple things.

1st that the prng counter of both daedalus resets whenever a proc occurs.

2nd that the prng checks each daedalus individually. so i used the constant for %30 chance that is 0.11895.

so i ran the calculations, here are the results: http://imgur.com/a/wuyDM

first 8 numbers show the chance of crit proccing on that particular streak of nocrits. 9th hit is a guaranteed crit so i didnt bother with that. following 9 numbers are the statistical chance of getting crits on nth attack. it peaks on 2nd attack. final number is the averaged out "n attacks to crit." 2.47.

quite a bit higher than the projected value that is 1.96. half an attack more.

Miracle PA - weird item choice

Posted: 03 Jul 2017 11:16 AM PDT

He goes for Phase, aquila, deso, then sells aquila to buy vlads

Why doesnt he just build vlads after phaseboots? Seems like a waste or do I miss something?

Best lane for Brewmaster?

Posted: 03 Jul 2017 02:24 AM PDT

I've played a decent amount of brewmaster (50 games or so) but no so much since 7.00. I'm looking to start playing him again and as a guy who mainly plays offlane is he viable there or is mid and possibly carry only acceptable?

Is MK in a good place now?

Posted: 03 Jul 2017 01:45 AM PDT

Is MK worth picking after the new buffs? Doesn't seem enough for me. If yes what position? Still seems very lackluster without farm after basher nerfs, so maybe mid? And generally it seems to me like osfrog is pushing it to core, with all the ulti attack speed buffs

Naga siren player looking to improve in laning phase

Posted: 03 Jul 2017 12:23 AM PDT

Hi guys! Im a 3.8k player who recently returned to Dota a little less than a month ago and I have sunk down to 2.9k MMR.

I'm looking to improve my play as a Naga siren and was wondering if she is still viable as a go-to pick in most games in pubs as a carry. Here is my most recent game and I was wondering if I could get tips on how I could maximise myself during the laning phase?

Here is my most recent game

https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3287039171

I think that I've tunnel visioned myself a lot by not looking at the minimap too much which is something I should improve but if other Naga players could check the game out and provide more ways to improve my efficiency or if I've been missing anything, please let me know!

IO bottle or soul ring

Posted: 02 Jul 2017 08:32 PM PDT

Hi guys. I have started a io spree until i can play him well. Im just wondering what build is better. Soul ring or bottle. I always go tranquils mainly for the health regen.

Hello guys. I'm new and wondering why IO keeps getting nerfed.

Posted: 03 Jul 2017 03:36 AM PDT

I like playing IO. I'm a relatively new player who just hit 2.2k mmr. So I'm still pretty bad, I've only played like 20 ranked games since hitting the level required to play it.

though every patch I keep seeing IO getting nerfed. Self damage increases. Mana costs that are almost 20% nerfs at certain levels.

Did they buff IO a lot when the arcana came out and are they now making up for it? What's going on?

I tried to google it. But all I see is that IO has a less than 40% winrate in pubs. and in competetive his winrate isn't ridiculously high either?

when I play IO I feel like he's not in an incredible spot right now. But maybe I'm just too low MMR to notice?

Team composition dilemma

Posted: 03 Jul 2017 03:31 AM PDT

Hi, all

I'm 4k and several months ago i have played 6 matches (we on all 6 matches) with my colleague, who is 6k player with 4000 hours. We used skype and he gave us advises what heroes our team needs (every match our composition and roles were completely different). Yesterday i have lost several matches even when our team performance was ok and remembered this.

So the question is: What things besides counterpicks and synergy we need to look at? Are there any "must have" features for team comp?

What are my goals as Queen of Pain?

Posted: 02 Jul 2017 04:37 PM PDT

I'm trying to pick up the hero, and have lost four games in a row.

My laning is a little rough, but workable. I've usually come out even, or gotten a kill on the enemy laner.

Once it comes to ganking and after 10 minutes, I have no idea what I should be doing. I have a huge damage combo, do I try to blink and nuke down one person? Hit a big Sonic Wave?

My farm is weak, as well. She's difficult to last hit with. I've gone Null + Tangoes > Bottle > Treads > Orchid every game, usually ending up with Orchid at anywhere from 18 to 24 minutes. There was only one game that I think I should have gone Eul's instead, in hindsight.

Basically, since she's a glass cannon, my goal is to kill heroes, but how do I achieve that without dying myself?

3 bracer Build for all heroes(Inspired by singsing)

Posted: 02 Jul 2017 08:18 PM PDT

Edit: of course patch notes appear right as I post this. Might delete and repost later.

I've been experimenting with heroes, and I made a build inspired by sing sings 5 bracers build. When the patch notes announced rod of atos built from 2 bracers now, I went down the list of heroes that can possibly build both drums and rod of atos. In fact, most heroes can. My favorite to play being underlord, but veno being my most succesful.

So basically the build goes bracer tango start, you work your way up to 3 bracers, tranqs (or other boots like arcanes) wand and then 1 situational slot. You then get drums atos and build whatever you need next

When I refer to 6th item, I mean the above build.

Melee heroes I would usually get windlace, soulring, or a shield. Most range heroes I would get windlace, aquila, or soul ring

I really like venomancer, since you can use the root time to place wards around them and give you a reliable root. Underlord is also really fun, you can go aether afterwards and go the spell casting build. W, atos and then they will instantly be rooted by W again.

The only heroes this doesn't work for are standard carries, who want damage over other items. Some are theory crafts, others have been tested

Abbadon: gives durability and stats. Can chase people better. Atos gives long range cc. Drums help you push

Alch: not that good. Though it does make you tankier and gives you time to prep stun, alch wants other items.

Ancient: helps his early weakness of being squishy, gives him reliable cc that works with his stun and aoe slow for near guaranteed stun. Easy ult shots. Maybe put midas as the 6 slot in the early game build.

Antimage: better early game fighter builds, and he wants other items.

Arc Warden: idk how to play, but tempest can atos and you stack Flux and spark wraiths and deal a lot of damage.

Axe: maybe, but you delay your blink and durability a lot. Probably better ways to play.

Bane: More cc? MORE CC. Works well and gives him some mobility.

Batrider: wants force staff and blink quick, but can transition into a similiar build later.

Beast master. Long range cc for your boar can get close. Longer chain cc. Drums help push. Maybe vlads as the 6th item.

Bloodseeker: kinda redundant and counter intuitive, but makes silence harder to dodge. Rupture one and root the other.

Bounty: reliable cc, mobility, sustain. Medallion or urn as the 6th item and your good to go.

Brew: works well as a mid game power house but you can't use items during ult. Also carry build probably wants something else.

Bristle: wants more tank items and less utility. Okay ish

Brood: wants other items probably, build would be passable, but better options exist

Centaur: really fun. Can't dodge stomp now can you. Helps stampede when your team catches a lone hero out for you guys can wreck him.

Chaos knight: roamer or mid game power house maybe, but carry build wouldn't use it.

Chen: ez set up for creep chain cc, aura of movement works well in theory. Makes you tankier.

Clinkz: Wants other items, more damage less utility. Never build on this hero

Clockwerk: never miss a hookshot again. But it is slot starved unlike other builds since clock wants other items quicker

Crystal: solves durability issue and mana pool issue. Gives mobility and even more cc

Dark seer: probably wants other items so okay build because he does benefit

Dazzle: maybe, gives him some cc which he lacks. But delays glimmer and other items.

Death prophet: okay I guess. Not really best though, but you could make it work.

Disruptor: see dazzle. Same benefit and problems root someone for they take static storms full duration with fence

Doom: passable, but other items might be better.

Dragon knight: mid game build maybe, but carry want different items.

Drow: no

Earth spirit: never miss a combo again. Really fun

Earth shaker: delays blink so no

Elder titan: passable.

Ember spirit. Mediocre at best, liability otherwise.

Enigma: chain cc a little. Lock someone down for eidilons and aoe. Delays blink though.

Void: a better utility void build exists. But it works good. Get treads as boots and echo saber as 6th item. Hold someone down while your team wails on them.

Gyro: never miss an ult and q again

Huskar: meh

Invoker: same as void, better builds exist, but atos is fun.

Io: never miss spirits again. Gives some cc which you lack and sustain and gives decent durability. Not much then that though

Jakiro: never miss ice path again. Chain cc, ridicoulous durability for a support, and solves mobility issue.

Jugg: not really useful. Though you can cast atos while ulting so it might help if you take it with aghs.

Kotl: mediocre and redundant. But does give a lot of hp and long range cc. If your snowballing and plan on getting aghs, it might be decent

Kunkka: use x on one, root the other. Never miss again. Aether as 6th item. Above average

Legion: mediocrity at its finest, still better then the midas jungle deso though.

Leshrac: never miss again. Get aether lense and have a disco ball.

Lich: passable. EDIT. Actually pretty good as pointed out. Frost armor makes you tankier. You can root someone near a lone siege creep and let your ult smash them.

Lifestealer: No

Lina: never miss again and enjoy not being squishy.

Lion: chain cc, keep draining mana. Long range cc comparable to blink.

Lone druid: have both heroes get atos and have fun. Not really good, but fun

Luna: maybe in the aghs build.

Lycan: no

Magnus: so meh

Medusa: no

Meepo: good stats, long range cc. Never miss a net again. Have fun wailing on them.

Mirana: mediocre

Monkey king: i don't think even this build can pull him from the dumpster. But hey never miss a spring again.

Morph: get a casual chainmail or platemail as the 6th item and go full strength. Have fun

Naga: root into root. Gives enough mana to spam illusions. No radiance Oct core though. So end early

Natures: never miss sprout again. Not much else besides that

Necro: better items exist so veil as 6th item is passable but not the best

Nightstalker. Root when they can't even see you. It's ok I guess.

Nyx: never miss impale again.

Ogre: the only thing that can make it better is if multicasted items. Really fun and good

Omniknight: better then average. Gives you cc which you lack

Oracle; doesn't offer much outside the root, but hey, it's use able.

OD: hold someone down and wail on them. Not the best but pretty good

PA: no

PL: mediocre good stats nothing else.

Phoinex: never miss your skills again.

Puck: tankier, never miss your skills. Perfect for growth into blink

Pudge: never miss a hook. Have fun winning

Pugna: you actually have an hp pool. Never miss a q again

Qop: never miss an ult again. Makes you tankier, but handicaps your damage

Razor: hold them down and wail on them. Dragon pike as the 6th item. Enjoy being a burly front liner

Riki: smoke root ult. Have fun in the chaos.

Rubick: place someone and make them stay there. Your not squishy anymore.

Sandking: delays blink, but hey, you can pin someone down and force them to eat a full epicenter

Shadow demon: fun, but not the best

Shadow fiend: your gonna fall off hard, but you won't miss any razes.

Shadow shaman : Chain cc and your actually durable now. Also it gives you some cc range

Silencer: Fun, not the best. But good.

Skywrath: now you won't instantly kill yourself against pugna or blademail. And atos is core anyways. Really nice.

Slardar: long range cc, let's you wail on someone for extra time

Slark: your not squishy, but you won't do much else. Never miss a pounce again I guess.

Sniper: you already have an aimbot, why would you need them to stand still.

Spectre: mediocre

Spirit breaker: wail on them a little longer. Your really burly as well. Good

Storm: no

Sven: usuable, not that good, but can be fun to wail on someone while you have God's strength for 3.5 seconds.

Techies: good, but then you playing techies and no one will like you anyways.

TA: no

Terrorblade: mediocre

Tide: passable, you delay your blink, but you won't miss your ravage I guess

Timber: you can get nuked now. You won't miss your combo, but you delay bloodstone.

Tinker: below mediocre, you can spam a lot with level 1 re arm, but better builds exist.

Tiny: never miss your combo again. Not much else though so mediocre

Treant: Root on root. Tree uses root from stealth. It's ok.

Troll: mediocre

Tusk: chain cc. Can use atos in snowball for they can't blink away. Lots of cc and stats.

Underlord: the best hero for this build. Root then root and they will always be rooted again. Your tanky, and have plenty of mana. Go firestorm build and fry them alive

Undying: don't let ursa get close to the tombstone, let zombies stack on someone. Gives you some base strength so your not weak if you get jumped on. Really fun

Ursa: mediocre, hold someone down, but not much else. Maybe morbid as 6th item so you can solo rosh

Venge: More long range cc. Swap someone then send a root back. More durable. More roam mobility, really good. Gives some range to your cc

Veno: your durable now, hold someone down for ward spam and have fun.

Viper: above average gives you some long range cc, helps kite better and make you more durable

Visage: long range chain cc. Really useful and fun

Warlock: gives cc outside of ult. Let's aoe slow build up, more durable. It can work

Weaver: not really

Wind ranger: never miss a shackle or a powershot again. Also now your tanky with plenty of mana. Have fun cause this is good.

Winter: never miss abilities again. Gives speed and durability.

Witch doctor: never miss malediction again. Set up some stun locks, and death ward .

Wraith: mediocre

Zues: below mediocre, but above no.
