Hey guys, it's Doq, and boy is it great to be here again. There's just something about being a writer that gets me going. Perhaps the fact that I can share my thoughts freely-- wait.... I'm not allowed to do that? What happened to freedom of-- UWAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh....

Yo, it's NotDoq. Gonna take you through this edition real quick. Buckle up, this is gonna be good.

20XX Melee Hack Pack 4.07 RELEASE! (bug fixes and a few new features)

Posted: 04 Jul 2017 03:42 PM PDT

This update is mainly to address bugs in v4.06. A few new features and changes made their way in during the development process as well.

20XX 4.06 to 4.07 Changelog

NEW FEATURES/UPDATES

  • Controller Origin Adjustment --> Introduced in v4.06 was the ability to press D-Pad Down at the CSS to display a window showing analog controller values. The top line of this window now shows the current control stick x & y-axis calibration values (type = int8_t), which is the location of the control stick when the controller was plugged in or reset. With this controller info window still displayed, holding the Z Button and pressing D-Pad directions (left/right for x-axis, up/down for y-axis) will allow manual adjustment of the controller origin values.
    • Also remember that the control stick deadzone for the CSS is not the same as the in-game one used for character inputs.
  • In-game Toggles --> Replay Menu --> 20XX CPU Type now persists across matches.
  • In-game Toggles --> 20XXTE Input Display now persists across matches.
  • Debug Menu --> Mechanics Codes page has been added.
    • Added a toggle for enabling the 2-frame window Smash Turn code (Magus v3.0).
  • Debug Menu --> Character Codes --> Added the following:
    • Mewtwo: always full shadowball
    • Sheik: always full needles
    • DK: always full giant punch
    • Samus: always full charge shot
    • Luigi: always misfire
    • Peach: down-b pull (default/specific turnip/bomb/saturn/beamsword/random item)
  • Watermelon Falco (Green Falco R-Alt) includes updated offscreen textures [PlFcGr.rat].
  • Debug Menu --> Textures --> Added a "Character Select Screen" toggle with options of DEFAULT and TRI-CSP.
  • Debug Menu --> Textures --> Added "Gold" Battlefield [GrNBa.9at].
  • Debug Menu --> Textures --> Replaced "Icy" Fountain of Dreams with "Northern Lights" [GrIz.2at].
  • Debug Menu --> Stage Codes --> Lagless FoD options have been changed and now include a variation of this updated code.
    • Options are OFF/ON/4+ PLAYER OR DOLPHIN [default]
  • Added "JAB COUNTER / LINK WINDOW" as a Magus Physics Display option to show internal variables used for linking jabs (see this post by myself regarding performing The Gentleman).
  • X+A 20XX Reset on the CSS or Debug Menu now resets any currently toggled alternate costumes/characters/metal skins.
  • Enabled CPUs (includes HMN's Nana) to be able to use C-Stick in Develop Mode.
  • Debug Menu --> Training Codes --> Color Overlays --> Action State Overlays --> renamed some of the action states at the end of the list to display the action state ID value, which allows easier mapping of color overlays to special moves (ex. 361 = Fox grounded shine that is jump cancelable, but 361 can be a different special move for other characters).
  • Debug Menu --> Training Codes --> In-game Toggles --> Save States/Replays --> Added an option for enabling random damage percents for all characters upon a Load State (min/max random damage can be specified).
  • Debug Menu --> CPU Codes --> Added "OoS Reaction Time" and "OoS Reaction Time Type".
    • OoS Reaction Time is an integer value of frames to delay the selected OoS option from executing. "Exact" type will always delay by the selected amount of frames. "Random Max" type will delay a random amount, from zero to the selected value inclusive.
  • Debug Menu --> CPU Codes --> Techchase Escape Options --> Added "Shine" as a wakeup option, which obviously only applies for Spacies, that is set to the highest priority level in the list.
  • Reordered the "Neutral_Wait" CPU logic order of operations so that Techchase Escape Options, set in the Debug Menu, are performed before the 20XX AI Type flag setting (shield hold/OoS, Stay).
    • So you can have the 20XX CPU Type in "Stay" and practice techchase stuff, as an example use case.
  • Tag Team Melee and Dual 1v1 Special Modes now default to Teams Mode ON from bootup.
  • Blacklisted Save State saving while Samus/Link/Y. Link's grapples are active (loading back into these states would freeze the game).
  • Debug Menu --> Memory Card Management --> SSBM: Stage Expansion --> Updated to v1.1 (which adds the lagless FoD code).
  • Debug Menu --> Memory Card Management --> Added SSBM: Stage Expansion v1.1 + 2 Frame Window Smash Turn.
  • Debug Menu --> Memory Card Management --> 20XXTE --> Updated to v.2c (rev. 1).
  • Added the custom walljump flag code for other modders.

BUG FIXES

  • Debug Menu --> Training Codes --> In-game Toggles --> DI Draw info screen no longer shows the Chess Melee info screen.
  • Fixed an issue with 20XX CPU Z Button inputs being ignored with Develop Mode ON.
  • Fixed a bug with Tag Team Melee incorrectly auto-configuring the player type/controlled-by values for CPU teammates.
  • Fixed a bug with the "live" DI Draw - Magus Physics Display feature not functioning properly.
  • Fixed a bug with DI Draw that would incorrectly calculate hitstun frames (off by one) if a higher port character was throwing a lower port character.
  • Fixed a bug with Chess Melee where a character entering the DeadUpStar action state would freeze the game.
  • Fixed a bug with Dual 1v1 Mode where characters on different teams could damage each other.
    • This also fixed a bug that would crash the game if 16+ music tracks were selected in the Debug Menu music playlist for Dream Land.
  • Fixed a bug where navigating to Debug Menu --> General Codes --> Shield Colors --> RGB Color Viewer would freeze the game.
  • Fixed a bug where selecting a random stage after stage striking could load Princess Peach's Castle under the right circumstances.
  • Fixed a bug that would cause the game to freeze in the Classic Mode Trophy Drop stage when spawning a trophy.
  • Fixed a bug where the IASA color overlay could display during rapid jabs.
  • Fixed a bug where the pause screen camera type could be enabled while not on the pause screen in Random Hit Effects mode and for stages defaulted to fixed-camera mode (like Icicle Mountain).
  • Fixed a bug with the 20XX AI where forcing a fullhop had the potential to output a shorthop. I also added a bit of code to make Fox/mainly Falco fullhop out of shine on occasion.
  • Fixed a bug where the in-game replay menu and Develop/20XX code toggles pause screen menu were not able to be displayed at the same time.
  • Fixed a bug with freezes in 1P game modes (encountered when trying to load Yoshi's Story) which would also cause "random" freezes when loading the Title Screen.

20XX 4.06 memory card data will not be overwritten when upgrading to 4.07.

Which character has the most anti-potential?

Posted: 04 Jul 2017 12:32 PM PDT

So say for instance a lot of people are shocked that say Yoshi or Corrin do not have good results despite seeming like amazing characters (aka the potential argument). What character is the opposite of that? Characters that you are shocked have so many good results despite your belief that they are bad.

Do you like playing against your own main?

Posted: 04 Jul 2017 02:02 PM PDT

A lot of people like to complain about certain characters like Sonic and Bayonetta. The complaints may stretch from 'this character should be banned' to 'I'm just not having fun'. Regardless of where you stand, most of us have at least one character that we don't enjoy playing against, no matter how even the match gets.

But let's flip it around: do you like playing against your own main character? And I'm not just talking about the ditto here. If you picked up another character, do you think you'd enjoying playing against your current main? Why/why not?
