| Posted: 10 Jul 2017 05:29 AM PDT With the mid season update coming up I realised a lot of my hype for big balance changes to the game has been killed by how many gods are consistently too strong or weak yet are never talked about or adjusted. So I thought it'd be good for transparency and help restore confidence in the balance team if with every mid season/new season patch, Hi-Rez talked for a paragraph or so about each god in the game. This could just be whether they think they are under performing, over performing or doing alright, and whether they are currently planning or considering any balance or other changes to them. If you're getting bm'd constantly, don't worry about it. Every person who plays smite has had at least one game where they just fed their brains out and couldn't help it, just power through it, learn from it, and move past it. | Posted: 10 Jul 2017 06:26 PM PDT So far we have been hinted and teased at a lot of big changes coming to items and Gods, so I am hoping our resident spider will get some love too. I know Weak3n made a good Arachne build guide just a few days ago, a very good guide, that brought up some good points about her right now, but also states that she has a lot of issues. I know Arachne can work at lower levels of play, and I think she has a high win rate because she just dominates there, but she suffers at higher levels. However how does one buff her without making her impossible to fight at the lower levels? Mostly with adjustments and smaller/higher skill level buffs. Now I will strees that giving her probably all of these MAY be too much, so even just a few of them will be helpful. These are not all my ideas too. Many arachne fans from the reddit here have helped me make these choices, plus I listen to Polarbearmike and DMbrandon talk about this ult change I really liked, though I did tweek it a little bit into something better and more unique. Last thing, Arachne is what I would say is an isolationist. She thrives and isolating her pray and picking them off, be it with webs, her stun, or spiderlings catching them alone. I think this is a call part of her kit and I wanted to capitalize on this. Passive: No change Its a perfect passive and does a great job in letting her eat her pray faster, Venomous Bite: No changes needed. perfect as is. Cacoon. To be honest this is probably her worst ability. Its a stun and if you can get the stun off its great, but it is easy to mess up if only 1 minion or an ally is around. I think it should be made that tower hits or minion hits don;t count towards the 3 hits needed to stun. If you hit another god though you should still lose the stun, but this will reward good arachne plays weaving through a team fit for her target much more. Web: I would like to see 2 major changes. First let her put up more then 2 webs at a time. OG arachne WAY back in beta could lay down multiple eggs at level 1, which allowed her to quickly clear multiple parts of the jungle and got her the role of great jungler that she still has. Now I don't want to see 30 second gold furies again, but I think letting her control more of the jungle by placing more webs down would help a lot. I think a 3/4/5/6/7 web leveling would be great. 3 webs at level 1 wouldn't allow her to solo gold fury, but it would allow her to do very unique jungle starts just for her, as well as laying traps in the jungle path early perhaps so she can force the enemy to take the path she wants. Back in season 3 I used to drop a web at the enemy jungle enterance in mid lane coming from their red. this gave so much mid pressure as the mid either went around or took poke. I think this was some of the most fun I had with the god, and made her so unique. I love the idea of her laying traps and forcing people to think twice while going in the jungle, and having more webs up would allow that. Plus she can plus webs at down buff camps as she rotates, and then the spiders themselfs can clear while she is away, allowing her to go rotate elsewhere. The second change actually ties with her spiders. They need to scale with Arachne. She has the only pets that don't gain anything from their master, which makes zero sense since she is actually birthing these spiders themselves, so they should gain something from their mother. I think the safest thing would be they gain scaling power and health. this way at level 1 they aren't too strong since you yourself have little of these, but as you go stronger they do too, and by end game your web is more then just a slow. you could poke a lot more with your spiders in team fights, which I think she needs. Night Crawler: now we come to the fun change. DMbrandon and PolarbearMike suggested a change on their stream where arachne can shoot people while in the ear and pull them towards her. I thought that may be too strong, but I love the idea of her ult being more then just an escape and i like the concept they put out. Then I thought about how arachne's whole kit, even her old one, is about isolation of a target. in her old kit the pull was the key to that. Here its catching people with your webs as their CD's are down. So I thought, how can I improve this, while also givin her a choice in her kit, because choices make a kit grow. And Here is what i cam up with. If you have stunned someone with your 2(or maybe any stunned target within close range of you) if you ult, you grab them and bring them up with you, banishing them from the map. You then can run around with them in your claws till you decide to jump down. This would help her in multiple ways. First, your ult now can be more then just an escape. You can take a target out of a team fight for 5 seconds, be it their squishy mage, a hunter, or even the enemy guardian. And then you can take them far away from their allies and isolate them and finish them off as you please. This keeps the feel of arachne;s old pull but a new unique twist to it. Second, Choice. the choice of do I kill the squishy, do I just stun them and ult out, do i just ignore the squishy and remove the enemy tank from the team fight. All cool and unique ways for you to use it. Last, this would sbe a high skill move. you need to land a stun on the target, so you would have to walk up to them and stun them, which its hard to just walk up to an enemy late game in the time fight phase, so its more for the skilled arachne players. Plus, since its a banish not a stun like Fenrir, you cannot just hold them up to set up big money ults. They cannot take damage till you jump down, so yes you can jump right back down into a Kuku ult, but it may be wiser to just carry the foe off into the junglke away from the rest of his allies and you finish them off while the rest of your team fights them. And those are the changes. I know some people want a cleave auto on her as well, but I think that would be too much with the other changes. a third web at level 1 would give her a ton more pressure then an auto cleave, which is the main reason why people ask for it. Plus it doesn't help with the overall theme of the buffs: Isolating a target. ANyway, hope you like the suggestions, and lets watch none of these things happen to arachne at the patch haha! | Anyone else think HiRez goes about balancing wrong? Posted: 10 Jul 2017 09:48 AM PDT HiRez always goes about balancing by always nerfing whatever is in the meta really hard while ALSO buffing something that's out of the meta really hard. All that does is recreate the previous predicament with a different style/face taking the glory. Example is the horribly failing relic system. Sunder seemed like a balanced item for a very long time. Somewhere in the timeline Meditation was nerfed (where Shell the only other defensive relic sucked) so everyone went to the next most viable thing, Sunder. In this state people suddenly began to realize that sunder was good/viable (even though much wasn't changed about it since early S4 for a while) because there was no other viable option. Everyone is titled that one relic seems OP because the others are trash. HiRez nerfs sunder to shit while also giving Bracer a buff. Now theres only a shitty med, shitty sunder, very situational relics, and bracer which is the only, once again, viable relic, recreating the same predicament that SMITE had before. (Beads and Aegis are balanced single-target defensive relics so no need to mention them) [link] [comments] |
| Horrific Emblem + Fafnir ult = mostly confirmed damage Posted: 10 Jul 2017 10:26 AM PDT About a month ago I started using Horrific emblem as first item on Fafnir (in everything but conquest, don't know if I can bring myself to not use meditation). I find that if I walk up to someone, burn their escape, follow them with underhanded tactics + horrific emblem + ult I can confirm the damage like 95% of the time. Makes my bruiser and mage fafnir crazy effective, and also the emblem helps set up hard to hit ults like ra or kukulkan. I really enjoy this god. [link] [comments] |

| Posted: 10 Jul 2017 06:00 PM PDT Ever since his release, Kuzenbo has been pretty underpowered, obviously. And loads of people come to reddit to suggest a buff to him. But I really just wanna say that I think Kuzenbo is SUPER underrated. Before you get your pitchforks out and raid my home for such blasphemy, let me explain myself. Every god in the game has their own strengths/weaknesses and different roles that they can fullfill. In my opinion, people are trying to hard to compare how well Kuzenbo plays to other supports. While yes I agree he is in desperate need of buffs, I also think people are just not playing him how he should be played. Now I may be totally wrong, but I really feel like people complain how bad of a support he is, but they dont see how well he can do acting as a magical warrior in a sense. I remember people complaining that his ult is awful because it makes allies miss abilities etc. In that situation, it is not kuzenbos fault, it is the person playing kuzenbo. same with his dash, people constantly use it to initiate/ push enemies around in the middle of team fights instead of saving it to push enemies under tower or to escape. I dont want to go on and on about every situation I feel people may be mistaking for kuzenbos kit being the problem rather than the players own playstyle. | When should I start playing ranked conquest? Posted: 10 Jul 2017 06:45 PM PDT I play on Xbox. I am in the top 1% as far as play time, but I've only played 19 matches of conquest this season. I have a 79% win percentage and I know almost all the gods kits. For some reason when I get ready to play ranked I talk myself out of it. | Posted: 10 Jul 2017 11:36 AM PDT So I got Osiris to diamond last weekend, there's only one thing bad about him and that is that if you're holding down the auto attack button and then you spam his abilities then your hit chain will get messed up, the hits will not coincide with his swing animations and sometimes it makes your autos come out slower.
