Hastened Katana could be named Muramasa for theming.

Some context

Essentially if anyone's aware of Japanese legend/lore, Muramasa and Masamune were legendary Japanese blacksmiths- Masamune (of which we have one katana in the game named after him) was known for making holy blades, while Muramasa who was often described as a mad genius craftsman was said to have made demonic ones. They were often fleshed out in tales (despite historically living in different eras) to have a rivalry, that Muramasa and Masamune both tried to surpass the other through their swords.

One tale where they tried to impress a master:

"The first of the swords was by all accounts a fine sword, however it is a blood thirsty, evil blade, as it does not discriminate as to who or what it will cut. It may just as well be cutting down butterflies as severing heads. The second was by far the finer of the two, as it does not needlessly cut that which is innocent and undeserving."

So where does that fit with Smite? Well the Masamune in Smite gives protections, more deserving of a holy sword- while one fitting towards bloodlust and sticking to your enemy is more fitting for a Muramasa katana. Second, it gives more lore to the katana tree with named lore items and exists as a lore counterpart to Masamune. Thirdly, a RL Muramasa blade could pass off as a Hastened Katana icon.

Smite is an amazing f2p game

As someone who has only played for about a year and only has a total of 2000 hours invested on multiple accounts. I must say that Smite is the best game I've played in years.

It has a great good selection, good and exciting combat, and best of all it is FREE TO FUCKING PLAY

You can litteraly play this great, fairly polished game for FREE

Do you know how many f2p games ARENT absolute trash games?

I've seen so much negativity lately towards this game, and I think it's a good thing to remember that this game is free and how good this game is for a f2p title.

And if you still say this game is awful, you don't have to play.

He sounds like a little nerd and has no weapons. He just punches you. So fast that his fists do more damage with 2 punches full build late game than Anubis ult. He just punches you. That's it. For 1500. With a punch. Fenrirs got claws nemesis has a sword Thor has fucking MJOLNIR. But nah. Mercury don't need all that. He's just tryna throw hands.

You shouldn't tho, you should run very fast. He'll catch you anyways though

Smite tournaments needs Swiss Format/Group Stage

After what we saw today, i think now more than ever it's time to talk about the format of smite tournaments.

I know that EU > NA and that is almost unarguable, but today 3 NA teams and 1 SA just got sent home after one set. They traveled to play just 2-3 games and now they are eliminated, brazilians almost didn't seen Black Dragons playing because they just got 2 games against a top 2 world team.

Smite tournaments needs a format change. We NEED a format like Swiss format or group stage. I know this demands a lot of games, but at least give us a lower/upper bracket format with bo3. Project olympus and mid season patch its a nice move from hirez, but now i hope we can see new things in competitive scene specially a new SWC format.

Title. I know fatalis was annoying because of hunters picking it (noone complained about it when it was only built on Freya and Kali), but, do Freya, Chronos and even Poseidon deserve to suffer from this nerf? Is it fair? I think not.

Imo just bring back the fatalis effect for mages, since the new one is just bad. 4 seconds may be enough to chase someone, but what if you proc it whenever you don't want to or get CCd when the passive goes off? It'll be completly useless.

Even with anti heal, this item is the most anti- fun thing in the game (yes I have a Nox flair) and early game you most likely wont have a counter to it unless a god innately has it. It punishes pursuing someone whlei has been caught out and, in turn, makes them able to turn on them with basically a new hp bar. Example would be game two today from Obey vs Luminosity where first blood was avoided because of this item when they were basically dead and chain CCed near enemy tower, butt ok, it's fine.

It feels like HiRez approaches god design haphazardly and god quality has gone down. There was the introduction of Chronos' and Ao Kuang's new passives, which just give them power, which seems incredibly lazy.

Another recent thing that made me doubt Smite's design team was the approach to Cu Chullainn's design. The Gae Bolg, a legendary heart seeking spear that imbues thorns into its victims is reduced to a short spear, held near the blade, used in a basic projectile ability. It was underwhelming to me when I first saw it, and it feels incredibly bland to use, IMO.

Ao Kuang's passive change is bad

I am not a big fan of playing Ao Kuang, but the design choice of how his new passive works is really backwards when compared to how Hi-Rez previously handled passive changes. They gave a passive that should be on his ultimate as his overall passive and removed the unique passive he had completely.

His current passive:

Ao Kuang's sword can hold up to 3 energy charges, and regenerates charges while his sword his sheathed. Each time Ao Kuang casts an ability, an energy charge will be consumed if available, increasing the damage of the ability. If Ao Kuang is out of Mana, he will use energy charges to cast abilities instead.

His new passive:

Each time Ao Kuang successfully uses his dragon form to execute an enemy God he gains a Stack that increases his Magical Power and Lifesteal. Stacks up to 3 times, Stacks are permanent.

In the past, Hi-Rez has made it a point to change passives that worked with a specific ability to only work with the said ability. In mid season 3 patch, we saw Odin and Aphro get new passives while the old passsive went to the correct ability. These were good changes to add more to the two gods without removing the old passives and giving them something new to work with, overall buffing the gods. Even furthering how backwards this is, Hi-Rez moved Chronos' old passive into his 2 and gave him a completely new passive that gives him a bit more power for existing. Again, buffing the god. I don't understand why Ao Kuang had to get a new passive that is arguably removes the uniqueness to his kit, for a new passive that should really be a passive on his ultimate. This really is a nerf to him, even though it was intended to remove the clunkiness he had. I just think that they should either find a way to integrate his current passive with the new one, or give him a different passive change while still putting the new one on his ultimate.

Edit: I think I should've made this point more clear; before level 5, he basically has no passive. Yes, power and lifesteal are both good on him, but these won't come online until he has 3 kills through his ultimate. My argument isn't that in the late game his new passive is bad, my argument is his new passive is a passive that should be on his ultimate, and by making it his overall passive Hi-Rez did something that's doesn't match with the design decison they've made regarding a passive only working on 1 ability.
