Guard followed me into bleak falls barrow

I had my character sleep for 31 in-game days, to reset every cell. When I got back to the game after tidying my room up, two entire months had passed, and both the thane and bard were dead downstairs. Wtf?

Update: I think I may have solved the mystery.

So, I have a mod installed called Moonlight Tales, for SSE. One effect of the mod is that you will sometimes, involuntarily, become a werewolf, and the chances increase with every waxing moon phase. At one point, after the resting period was over, my character turned into a motionless werewolf next to her bed upstairs (since it was used for the cell refreshing, obviously), and her... uh, dedicated, Teldryn.. Must have ran down and slaughtered their roommates after they sensed a werewolf aura in the house and promptly freaked out.

That's what I get for taking a 15-minute nap (yes, the irony is not lost on me) and tidying up clothes...

Leaving original post here for prosperity...

They (steward and bard) were lying together in their own blood, in front of the cooking pot in the main hall, but I couldn't find out who killed them, and there were no blood tracks anywhere in the house. There was also no one, aside from my follower who was just chilling around, not even a glitched bandit or skeever. This was Lakeview Manor, if that means anything.

Has this happened to anyone before? I ended up just reloading and doing the 31-day reset again, while doing more afk stuff. (There's a mod that simply extends the resting limit from 24 hours to 744 with no interrupts.)

EDIT: Steward, not thane! I'm the thane of Falkreath, damnit!

EDIT #2: The crime scene.

How do the Vigilants of Stendarr feel about Meridia?

Posted: 16 Jul 2017 12:46 AM PDT

As we've all learned from our time with the game the Vigilants of Stendarr will hunt any and all Daedra worshippers because according to them Daedra are unsaveable evil creatures who corrupt anything they touch (I paraphrased). And while most of the Daedric Princes certainly fit that narrative i.e. Molag Bal being the literal god of rape, Mehrunes Dagon invading Nirn and trying to kill everyone, Namira making you a cannibal, Vaermina with the whole nightmare thing, etc. There are a few Daedric Princes who can't really be classified as wholly evil, Nocturnal, Azura, and Sanguine come to mind as princes who don't seem very nefarious yet some of their actions can be said to harm mortals.

But then there is Meridia, she's considered by mortals to be the only benevolent Daedric Prince. She detests the undead and necromancy as shown by her quests, and she was even originally an Aedra who helped create the mortal plane. So it seems like the Vigilants and Meridia's goals align at least in regards to the undead, both of them want to wipe undead out. The Vigilants' main enemy in Skyrim are vampires and Dawnbreaker is shown to work against them so wouldn't it make sense for them to want to obtain it? Even though the Vigilants hunt all Daedra it wouldn't make sense for them to fight against the one Daedric Prince that shares the same goal as them.

I was wondering if there is anything in the established lore about how the Vigilants of Stendarr feel about Meridia and her worshippers.

After throwing way too many fireballs, my mage had a mid-skyrim crisis wanted to be a hand-to-hand fighter. His first attempt was a bit over-zealous ;)
