TIL the fall in Kagrenzel is 388 meters (1273 feet)

Posted: 28 Jul 2017 11:24 PM PDT

Whiles exploring eastern Skyrim, I came across the Dwemer ruins of Kagrenzel, and, feeling as if it was a suspicious area, promptly quicksaved. For those of you who haven't been to Kagrenzel, there is corridor leading to a room with pedestal with a light upon it. Upon activating the pedestal, the floor below you causes you to fall a great distance.

I, being the curious Argonian that I am, thought I should do some experiments on this fall. I did multiple trials, and the average time for the fall was 8.9 seconds, and, assuming Nirn has a similar acceleration due to gravitaty as Earth, that equates to a fall of 388 meter, or .24 miles

This also means that when you finish falling, you're going at a speed of 97.8 meters per seconds, or 219 miles per hour

Assuming the average Argonian like me weighs the same as an average human male, and that it took 1 second to return to a zero velocity, that would equate an impact force of 8176 newtons, or 1838 pounds of force meing exerted upon me. So I should be dead

tl:dr, even assuming a longer deceleration, you experience a ton of force and should die

I'm curious on whether or not people choose to kill Amaund Motierre after killing the Emperor or do you let him live? I tend to murder him because, "loose ends and all that"

Really got the urge to play Skyrim again, after having not really played it since release (strangely). I don't want to mod my game too heavily, so is there a list of 'essential' mods out there?

Posted: 28 Jul 2017 07:26 PM PDT

I don't want to spend all day modding my game, and the thought of so many out there is overwhelming me so much to the point of making me not even wanting to bother playing.

So is there a list of essential mods out there that make the game just straight up better? Also, is there a download manager that helps installing the mods to ensure no conflicts?

Thanks guys.
