Pokémon GO - SEREBII ANNIVERSARY EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT!

SEREBII ANNIVERSARY EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT!

Posted: 06 Jul 2017 06:18 AM PDT

Anniversary event and state of subreddit.

Posted: 06 Jul 2017 03:33 PM PDT

Trainers,

With the recent Anniversary announcement the state of the subreddit has gone into panic mode, and we have temporarily had to close the subreddit in order to make our way through the reports and unmoderated queues.

I'd like to take this opportunity to address a few things.

  • We understand that people are not happy with the anniversary announcement, but we do not need 1000s of posts within an hour all saying the same thing. We are NOT Niantic, however, and we cannot do anything about it ourselves.

  • We are not trying to silence people's opinions, we are simply trying to direct all the traffic saying the same thing into one thread. There is no need to have the entirety of /new/ all saying the same thing, the topic is already covered. Any users wanting to not participate in the Anniversary discussion will find it impossible to find anything else to talk about- it's not fair on those not here to complain.

  • If you cannot follow the most basic of board/forum rules regarding reposts then do not get upset with us for deleting your posts. It is not hard to check the front page and /new/ to see if the topic is currently being covered.

  • Lastly, and most importantly, the impatience and salt levels of this subreddit is incredible. I understand this anniversary event is a disappointment to most, but encouraging bad reviews for a FREE game because you're upset over an event, encouraging witch-hunting, and attacking each other is outright pathetic. This behavior is not welcome here, and these users are not welcome here. We will be meeting any broken rules with a much stricter than normal response over the next week in order to clear out some of the offenders in order to help build a friendlier community.

We want this to be a place where we can discuss Pokémon GO in an open and friendly community. If you see any posts you are unsure of, hit the report button and we will always get round to checking on it.

You can also send a modmail to us at any time if you wish to discuss any matters regarding the subreddit, as well as use it to push forward any suggestions for improvements or feedback.

All I see when looking at the Anniversary Box

Posted: 06 Jul 2017 05:59 PM PDT

Pokemon that can't return with coins should return with candy instead.

Posted: 06 Jul 2017 06:09 AM PDT

I can't be alone in feeling that the gym defending system feels really unsatisfying when you've already got the 50 coin cap for the day, so what about if they come back and can't bring coins they bring candy of Pokemon they defended with, with priority given for their own candy?

Everyone's getting riled up about the "event," but I'm just sitting here thinking, "I just want an app that doesn't lag or crash every time I open it."

Posted: 06 Jul 2017 02:45 PM PDT

Literally, I wouldn't even mind if they never gave us another event. If they just made the app stable and less buggy, I would be completely happy about all of this.

[idea] How about instead of giving Pikachu Ash's hat... you give the PLAYER Ash's hat

Posted: 06 Jul 2017 07:35 AM PDT

I feel like a huge opportunity is being missed with clothing options now being a thing. We already got explorer hats and Magikarp hats so why not? Then again, a lot of Pokemon Go is missed oppertunities

anyone else tired of the "special pikachus" ?!

Posted: 06 Jul 2017 06:26 AM PDT

i don't know if i'm the only one, but i really don't need another party hat pikachu or whatever!!!!! they add nothing to the game other than being cute . maybe if they released this new special one alongside shinies, then this event would be awesome. but WHO NEEDS ANOTHER PIKACHU WITH A HAT ON. NOT ME.

Crazy Idea: Imagine if Niantic fails to roll out Chicago event due to technical difficulties.

Posted: 06 Jul 2017 02:52 PM PDT

I can easily see this happening considering Niantic's past even if I don't want it too.

I think its time we stop supporting Niantic

Posted: 06 Jul 2017 06:53 PM PDT

Alright so, like my title says, I feel like it is time to stop supporting Niantic and rewarding them with millions of dollars while they pump out steaming piles of garbage for updates one after another. If this "anniversary event" is not an indication of how much they care about the players or their game being fun, I'm not sure what is. I am playing 2 other mobile games that are both going through anniversaries... and the difference in appreciation for the players is just absurd.

So what has Niantic done to show the player base they just don't care about them?

-Absolutely no communication with the players

-Extremely limited patch notes

-Breaking the tracker and replacing it with the P.o.S. we have now (legal issue? Who knows, they dont communicate)

-Most areas are in a constant pidgey and rat event

-Barely any pokestops added

-Barely any gyms added

-Speed lock, even for people just jogging or biking (even for those using PoGo+, legal issue? Eh, who knows?)

-A year after PoGo plus has been out, the $35 accessory is still buggy as hell, barely catches anything over 50 CP, and has recieved no functionality upgrades (choose which ball to throw?)

-Nothing has been done to combat the rampant cheating in the game

-Rebalancing of Pokemon with no compensation given (Aren't you glad you wasted all that dust on Lapras?)

-Reduced the max amount of f2p coins you can get per day

-Raids, pretty much the only content they have put out in a year are not only locked behind a paywall, but also have a curfew

-Not being able to communicate with other players to set up raid or gym attack teams

-Gym rework is convoluted... rewards you for losing even though 1/2 of the new system is about actively defending.

-Took away all meaningful stardust and player xp gains from gyms (25 berries just to get the equivalent of the reward for 1 pokemon in the gym in the old system... no player xp at all)

-Rewards us with a 1st anniversary event that gives us a chance to catch a reskinned Pikachu and buy a terrible bundle. Nothing else. (How about some incubators / incense / lures / raid passes for your first stop of the day... since thats basically the "login" bonus)

-First Real World Pokemon event sold out in minutes, mostly to scalpers who are reselling the tickets for huge mark ups (maybe shouldve required an email with a lv 5+ PoGo account attached to it? And then, hey, would have a good cross reference to all the cheaters who are just going to spoof into Grant Park anyway)

All in all, Niantic does not deserve a fraction of the money we have given them. They do not care about their game or their players, they only care about your money.

Dear Niantic. People that are going to spend 12.00 don't care about saving 0.80 cents.

Posted: 06 Jul 2017 06:07 PM PDT

I'm sorry but I have been playing this game every day for the last year. I have spent well over $2000 on in game inventory. You guys have made more money then you can spend. And your big anniversary event was to help me save 0.80cents and give me a Pikachu with a new hat? Add this to taking away our stardust from gyms, cutting the free coins by 50% and charging 1.00 for a raid pass when hatching an egg only costs 0.50 cents. You truly are becoming a pay to play game. And this is coming from a player who didn't mind paying. But it's now clear your trying to get as much juice out of this orange as you can before it's done. Happy anniversary!!

Why not shift the region locked Pokemon on the anniversary each year?

Posted: 06 Jul 2017 06:30 AM PDT

Wouldn't it be amazing if they did this? Moved the region locked Pokemon over one region each year so after what, 5 years all the players who have played the whole time can complete their pokedex. They can introduce more so people can still be nice and fucked over as I know that's necessary for any update on PGo.

Pokemon GO Anniversary Poll

Posted: 06 Jul 2017 10:04 AM PDT

Remember: That Pikachu with a hat is never going to be rare or sought after

Posted: 06 Jul 2017 02:54 PM PDT

It's a limited time skin that thousands, if not hundreds of thousands are going to horde a ton of because they believe it may become rare in the future. This skin won't become anywhere near semi-rare for the next 30-40 years.

Has anyone's game been running like absolute shit since the gym update?

Posted: 06 Jul 2017 09:22 AM PDT

Seems like this game performs worse every time they do an update. After the gyms, my game is constantly losing GPS position, takes forever to load things like stops, and the gyms... the gyms just run like pure shit. Network errors, crashing, etc. Sometimes when I exit out of a gym my game completely freezes, it won't take any inputs until I force close and restart.

It's become almost unplayable.

Edit* I'm playing on a Samsung Galaxy S5, which obviously is not a very new phone, but it's not a piece of shit by any means either. The game ran perfectly fine when it was released last year.

Anniversary Box Values 6 Max Revives and 20 Ultra Balls at 100 Coins

Posted: 06 Jul 2017 01:10 PM PDT

Title says it all. If you would pay 100 coins for the aforementioned items, the box is worth it. If not, you're better off buying what you want separately. Happy birthday, Pokemon Go.

See? Even Pikachu is disappointed at this "event"

Posted: 06 Jul 2017 08:22 PM PDT

In honor of the one year anniversary, let's take a moment to revisit the one change that broke the hearts of many.

Posted: 05 Jul 2017 11:07 PM PDT

Here is a true Anniversary Event

Posted: 06 Jul 2017 01:49 PM PDT

So obviously thus far this "Anniversary" Event has been nothing short of a letdown. It's quite frustrating that, of all times to shine, they fell so hard.

Here is an event almost all players could have benefited from:

*Stardust Amount Doubled for Event Duration

*XP Amount Doubled for Event Duration

*50% Off all items in the shop, including both bag and pokemon storage.

*More items from spinning pokestops and gyms

*Slightly increased TM drop rates

*Double Candies for catching/hatching/evolving pokemon

All of this benefits all users. The game has changed. This lets people take advantage and WANT to make purchases to get benefits for the event. The stardust helps EVERYONE with the raids ad powering up pokemon.

[Idea] Special pikachus should appear in pokedex so we don't have to keep it in the bag as a record

Posted: 06 Jul 2017 05:33 PM PDT

I have both Christmas and anniversary pikachus and keep it in my inventory as a trophy. Some of them have bad IVs so I would be happy to send it to professor and be able to see in the pokedex as catched.

Easy to implement mini-event for Niantic

Posted: 06 Jul 2017 11:49 AM PDT

3 words. Shuckle. Mega. Boss.

We know that, because HP is normalized for raid bosses, Shuckle's high defense would make him a nightmare, but Niantic should go all out and make it an event. Turn Shuckle into a tier 4 raid boss for one week, and let groups of players break themselves against it's mighty shell. It would be fairly easy to implement (assuming that they have the system to cycle raid bosses), and could help keep the game fun and interesting.

For rewards (because who cares about a high-IV shuckle), they could give any combination of the following:

  • A special badge (Don't mess with Shuckle)
  • A Shuckle-shell hat or shirt
  • Some damn stardust

I think this is the kind of quick hit event that could really help keep people from burning out when major content patches simply can't be released every few weeks.

TL:DR; I advise Niantic to fuckle with shuckle (or at least allow us to)

I found a Dragonite on my first ever spinned PokeStop.

Posted: 06 Jul 2017 02:58 PM PDT

I just had woken up and open my Pokemon Go app as I do every morning. But this morning was extra special. I see a Dragonite on my tracker, but not just at any Pokestop but in fact the first pokestop I ever spun a year ago when I started playing. The Dragonite ended up running but I found this moment to be such a great and iconic moment for my Pokemon Go journey. Happy Anniversary everyone!

Can we just wait until the event starts before crying?

Posted: 06 Jul 2017 09:33 AM PDT

Maybe the event is only pikachu hats and the stupid box, maybe they're just trolling us for an even bigger surprise at 1PM PDT. Who knows?

I really can't imagine a company celebrating the 1 year anniversary of their biggest hit with just this.. Maybe I'm being too optimistic but I think they're just trolling us and going to give us a huge surprise event at 1PM PDT.

If not, well shit, pitchforks out.

edit: Wow, someone needs to get fired at Niantic.

edit 2: Technically the event isn't live (although the sale is); cough cough there is still hope?

edit 3: yeah, no.
