Minecraft Bi-Weekly Build Challenge #24: Train Station Posted: 23 Jul 2017 03:55 AM PDT LAST WEEK'S THEME: SPOMENIKSGoldI personally thought that no one could make the graffiti work well. I thought it'd just look out of place. In this build, using the resources available to him (commands and armour stands) he was able to make some convincing graffiti on the face of the build. Now, focusing on the rest of it, I feel like these Spomeniks had a good style to them, mixing stones so they weren't too much alike but also they had a good shape. And the build was built with the terrain which all of us really liked (the judges). SilverI really liked the colours on these. The mixture of hardened clay (or terracotta now is it?) and stone really gave these structures a nice style. I found the shapes captivating and they looked alien in a way, with the twists and the squares in them. Also loved the red terracotta in one of them, a really good way of including that hard block in your build. A small thing is that the rainbow one, while cool, differed a bit too much from the style of the other ones and there was just too much colour in them. Maybe without the wool and just the red terracotta a stone it would have fit in with the rest? Still cool build and was really neat to see your concept art! BronzeLike the vines on these, really gave them an old feel and also they blended with the terrain with the stone path around them. However, the first one (the star) felt a bit too flat and seemed to lack detail or a crazy thing that most of the Spomeniks seemed to have (weird curves or messed up shapes). The star seemed just a little to normal for this challenge, if you get what I'm saying. However, the other ones were very well done and were really cool to see! Honourable mentions IntroductionThanks to /u/dermasbroo for this challenge!! Choo! Choo! All aboard the train! Wait a second... where do I board? There's nowhere for me to get on the train! Well that will be fixed in this challenge where we will be making our very own train stations! Inspiration ChallengeEasy Mode: Build a two track station with one train and the amenities inside the building (ticket vendors, toilets, information board). Hard Mode: Same as easy mode except this station must have at least 8 tracks, two trains on the tracks along with the same amenities from easy mode (you can still include more if you wish!) Rules

Mojang, since we are doing texture changes, please improve the looks of water. Posted: 23 Jul 2017 12:46 AM PDT Maybe make it brighter and more transparent, but water blocks below other water blocks become less transparent to give off a feeling of depth? Edit: or the change in transparency would only be done by source blocks. I just thought waterfalls would be weird if all water did this. [link] [comments]

Posted: 23 Jul 2017 11:23 AM PDT It's impossible to make changes in a game without people genuinely disliking them. Textures have been changed a lot thorugh the years and they looked bad in the beginning, however, I'd never want them back now. Mostly, it's for the better even thought you don't see it immediately. Posted: 23 Jul 2017 02:16 PM PDT I see no use for the hay bale where the red band is beneficial to its use. It's passable in some cases, such as being used as actual hay bales, but for something like a thatched roof it just intrudes. This would fix a lot of problems with the block, and I feel thicker ropes also contribute better to the new artstyle than the red. [link] [comments]

I think we need an overhaul update for Villages. Posted: 23 Jul 2017 06:24 PM PDT With all the new updates, I loved the complex design of mansions! They have a good use of complex block combinations, and looks beautiful considering brainless evil mobs made them. But villages still use that old design for their houses, the only change we got is the dirt path and wood type depending upon their location. Villages feel very uninteresting, it would be good to give them a complete overhaul such as complex block combinations, design varying depending on biome, more biomes having villages, more types of structures such as animal farms, town hall, mining outpost, merchant shop, brewery. Some villages could be protected by walls naturally, some villages could spawn underground with a completely different structure and vibe to it! Oh and stop saying "mods can do that" to every suggestion, installing mods isn't for everyone and of mods can do anything why is mojang updating the textures because "resource packs can do that" Then again I would love somethings in Vanilla to get a overhaul, to every man his own.
