Dear devs, I'm loving the texture changes, but I have one request Posted: 21 Jul 2017 12:56 AM PDT Could you guys put up an official blog post on Minecraft.net with a resource pack that contains all of the pre-1.12 textures? I know we can easily do that ourselves, but releasing such a pack is technically against the licence so that's not preferable. An official way to support the old textures would be great for people who aren't thrilled with the changes. An alternative would be a pre-installed resource pack that comes with the update, but that would double the texture files needed to download the game, so that could be a slight issue. Does anyone else really dislike most of the textures? Posted: 21 Jul 2017 03:47 PM PDT Minecraft's texures are iconic. The first thing you notice when you see Minecraft is how basic the graphics are. I feel like Mojang are trying to change that and make the blocks look more realistic. The cauldron, for example, looks more like a cauldron, but that doesnt really work with 16x16 pixels. If you're going to work in that small of a space, you really need to embrace the cartooney look. Strong outlines and color contrast. The old obsidian showed this off very well. It looked like a jagged chunk of glass, even though it didn't look like a real piece of obsidian. Its basic texture was pleasant to look at and felt like it belonged in a 16x16 block. The new obsidian looks like they compressed a realistic looking 32x32 image into the right size. You really need to embrace the art style that comes naturally to that small space. Personally, I prefer 1.8 pvp, anyway so I'll only be spending time on 1.13+ when I'm in single player, but I still care about what the game looks like. [link] [comments] | ||

Why are Faction servers so popular? Posted: 21 Jul 2017 07:13 AM PDT Maybe this question has been asked a couple times, but I never got It: Why are faction servers so popular and what's their point? Create a faction, make a base and raid others. And that's it?! I can't even tell why this is so popular, since most of the time you're alone in 1 faction and if you invite others, you'll most likely get griefed and then they'll leave the faction and move on to the next one... I don't get it... [link] [comments] |
