Is there a way to see the last played dates of all your heroes?

Posted: 04 Jul 2017 06:07 PM PDT

DotaBuff doesn't seem to track a stat like that...is there a site that does? Is it in the DotA 2 client itself? Thanks.

Best Way to Climb?

Posted: 04 Jul 2017 05:07 PM PDT

What is the best way to climb out of low mmr's? (In this case im ~750) There's the strategy of carrying your team solo, theres supporting your team to keep them alive longer then the other dumbies, and then offlaning to shut down their carries and Im not sure which is the best option. Also heres my dota buff in case that has any impact:https://www.dotabuff.com/players/190073376

Let's Talk About Lich

Posted: 04 Jul 2017 03:33 AM PDT

Hi,

What do you guys think about Lich, as a support (not sure if he's even viable as a different role)? I've heard some negative opinions that he's just a 2 spell hero and not really that strong. I personally have had good experience playing as Lich. Infinite mana early game, good zoning potential due to Q spam. I find stacking easy because I can make sure I pull through correctly by blasting creeps with Q, I can make sure both lane creeps and neutrals die at the same time due to eating my creep or blasting neutrals with Q. Some say he's ult is unreliable but even the single R blast + single Q provides a lot of dmg and slow, with some lucky bounces I often get double kills. I play below 3k mmr right now and there are so many skirmishes involving 2-4 enemies and no creeps. I just ult and everyone dies. The biggest problems I have with Lich is mid/late game as I find myself short on mana pool. I almost always go for Mek and using my full combo, using Frost Armor, ult, Mek takes away so much mana and if there are no friendly creeps nearby, I am out of mana. I never take that Q-spam talent because I can't afford to spam it because I don't have mana. How do you guys build him?

Replay analysis, please - dotabuff link in text

Posted: 04 Jul 2017 03:47 PM PDT

So I am at 2.4k MMR, I usually play Mid but was on safe-lane this game. I played with Juggernaut. My thoughts are that I farmed well in the early game, at least for my skill level. But have absolutely no idea what happened later in the game. Hope that someone could help me with it, every comment, every tip, everything is valuable to me since I want to improve and be more competitive in the game. https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3292759583

Tips for micro in dota

Posted: 04 Jul 2017 03:28 PM PDT

Hi there, I like to play a lot of heroes that need quite some micro management, think of lone druid/chen/enchantress.. Tho I'm really bad at it and it seems like I'm always blocking myself while trying these heroes. Currently I use space to select all units and c for my character and v for the creeps.. Can anyone suggest me a better way to control my units or give me some tips so I don't keep failing the tab to switch to my bear to activate an item and then lose track of my lone druid lol...

I need a replay analysis

Posted: 04 Jul 2017 02:43 PM PDT

Hey everyone, I'm pretty new to this game and I have never played a MOBA before. I am eventually learning a lot of new things by watching professional matches and purgegamers. I still don't know how do pubstars like miracle- snowball out of control his fast. In this match I had a good start but I'm not able to understand what was my mistake that led to a loss. Edit: Forgot to add the main part. I was Lina.

Is it normal to suddenly start getting reports when you start playing ranked?

Posted: 04 Jul 2017 02:33 PM PDT

Um ... started playing ranked recently and suddenly getting reports, where previously I've played a lot of unranked and almost never got reports. Is this normal?

Do people just ... report more often in ranked?

I'm not flamey in chat or anything, and can't think that I've had high deaths or anything like that recently -- so not sure what people are upset about, but wondering if getting more reports in ranked is just a "thing"? Or can someone tell me what the reason might be?

I don't mind at all the idea that I'm not perfect or that there might be a real reason I'm getting reports: I'm not whining. I'm just confused (and a bit hurt because I'm not doing anything differently to when I was playing unranked and not getting any reports) and wondered if this was normal.

Silencer's Intelligence Steal is an "innate ability?" Are there any other heroes with abilities not shown in the game?

Posted: 04 Jul 2017 09:07 AM PDT

I was watching a Purge/Day9 vid and after Sean died Kevin said something along the lines of "and since you died near Silencer you gave him Intelligence." I was intrigued, went to look at SIlencer's abilities since he's a hero I've never tried as a supp player, and I couldn't see what Purge was talking about. Assumed maybe this was an ability Silencer had in a previous patch and it was since changed, but the video in question was recent as far as I remember.

On the dota2.gamepedia site it says Silencer's Intelligence Steal is an innate ability that does not need to be skilled. So now I'm sorta confused because I couldn't find it in-game. Begs the question: are there other heroes with "innate abilities" that aren't skilled or even listed?

How did I/our team throw this game

Posted: 04 Jul 2017 12:33 PM PDT

Playing TA in this match. Had over 20k lead and decent item timings, gpm and xpm. Was it just not ending it early or were my item choices wrong?

Appreciate all feedback, thanks.

Convince me Winter Wyvern shouldn't be my main support (~1k)

Posted: 04 Jul 2017 07:48 AM PDT

One of those heroes in the "wanting to try out but never found the time" pile for a long time, and finally got it as my daily hero quest the other day. I couldn't get enough! There's not a lot she can't do decently (slow, nuke, damage, escape, heal) and her ultimate frankly seems almost broken. Just pick who you want to die and press R, on a cooldown that's not all that long either.

I know the standard argument is that lower-MMR players don't have good communication or teamwork, so her heal and ult can be misunderstood. Maybe I've just been super lucky so far, but that just hasn't seemed like a huge problem. The ability to basically pick someone to delete from a fight is just so game-wrecking down here that it barely matters if your team is whiffing on the enemy carry for the couple seconds it takes for them to die anyway. See an enemy pop blademail? Double bonus day for you, free teamwipe! And the best thing is, you need like ... Aether Lens and Force Staff and you're pretty much gtg.

As with every hero, I'm sure there's some horrible catch, so that's what I'm here to find out. I haven't gotten far enough to figure out what are the bad matchups and bad allied lineups, but so far it just seems like a super strong hero who's mostly under the radar because it's not just point-click-kill (even though it kind of is).

Oh yeah, another near thing is that you don't see WW picked very often, so you surprise a lot of enemies too, kind of like if you see a Beastmaster or Batrider or something.

Anyway, let's hear it; I'm super pumped up to play like 50 games in a row as Winter Wyvern, so knock her down a peg!

Role Switching, back to what I am good at.

Posted: 04 Jul 2017 07:47 AM PDT

I re-wrote this post 10+ times by now, so excuse the ramblings, I'll preface quickly by saying that I play a lot of Pos1 in party games with my friend (almost always only play with him when I party up with 1139 games together currently at 2.8~2.9k). When I play solo I end up playing Supports and initiating supports only due to team comps and the huge gap with season MMR. My solo games in seasonal tend to be 1k MMR lower, about 500 MMR lower than my actual MMR.

I want to keep challenging myself on my road to 3k as well as improving. I feel like I have learned a lot, but I still have a ways to go. Getting back to basics at what I as a player am good at and comfortable with seems to be important. Every time I go back to offlaning, it feels comfortable and I feel like I can do the most with what am given. To those who have experienced similar things, and similar frustrations switching between roles so drastically, what were your solutions?

Basically I am thinking of going back to basics so to speak. Back to what, in hindsight, is my best role in dota, the initiator, played from 3 or 4. I was thinking of Spamming Slardar and Brewmaster. But to keep challenging myself, playing Beastmaster and Visage. I haven't played a lot of Beastmaster in a long time and barely touched Visage (I want to get better at Micro and keeping an eye on more things in the game). Do you think something like this will benefit my playing in the long run and what are some tips that could help me have more game impact from these heroes specifically (Power spikes, timings, Patch specific item recommendations for Beastmaster and Visage would be great)

Also, should I stay away from international ranked until I can set it as my solo MMR? I have 41 games and have gained about 500 MMR so far.

I am not sure if my questions came across very well, I have spent the last hour rewriting this post, trying to figure this out.

If anyone reads this whole thing, thanks for reading. This post might not even make that much sense since I have spent the last hour trying to figure out how to say what I want to say.

Been playing Shadow Demon for a while but I have a feeling my build isn't optimal. Need some help.

Posted: 04 Jul 2017 11:16 AM PDT

I think the build I normally use for Shadow Demon, specifically mid game items, aren't working for me. I usually get Arcane boots, disassemble into Ather Lens, Tranquils with the left over boots and finally getting a Blink in that order. I feel like it's a bit too much to buy for a pos 4 or 5 support, however they're all very useful items. What change do you guys think I should make to the purchasing order or item purchases in general?

What is creep skipping?

Posted: 03 Jul 2017 08:46 PM PDT

I feel that it's embarassing that I have a relatively high mmr and I don't know what creep skipping is. I can't find anything about it on google, only some HoN forums where the posts have been removed. Anyone care to explain it to me?

Chaos Knight questions and tips?

Posted: 04 Jul 2017 09:34 AM PDT

Chaos Knight is my main carry, but I've been having a tough time playing him lately, especially since the illusion damage received increase. I know that the illusions are still tanky, but I would like some tips on when to ult, where to ult, what item builds are preferable and good farming strategies. The dude can delete most heroes from the game and I would like to get better at him.

I usually build Treads, Armlet, Hyperstone(Maelstrom into Mjollnir if the enemy has an illusion hero), Heart of Tarrasque, Assault Cuirass(from Hyperstone) then Black King Bar and finally Manta. I see many people building Echo Sabre, but each time I've tried it the item usually doesn't work for me. The two hits are very nice for a hero that hits like a tank with a jet engine, but I feel like a hyperstone would help more ever since the illusion attack speed buff.

When do I pick him? When do I not pick him? Obviously not against Earthshaker and Magnus, correct? Is Battlefury a possible item to build on him in a few rare situations? Is Manta better than I give credit for?

Another thing is that I find going for a tankier CK with hard hitting ult based illusions works more, but should I go for the usual Manta Style due to the versatility it has?

I've also noticed that Naga, CK, Medusa and Arc Warden are the carries that don't fall off and win late-late game. Is that true? Is it a game of rock, paper, scissors in that case? How do I fight against a counter like Medusa(besides obviously looking away) and Earthshaker(besides trying to kill him first before ulting?)

Thank you for your time, comrades.

How do you deal with teammates who absolutely refuse to push?

Posted: 03 Jul 2017 10:33 PM PDT

I have seen this in too many games where my teammates are either too scared to push, or want to jungle rather than take towers when we can. How can I deal with this rather than lose?

Invoker Late-Game combos?

Posted: 04 Jul 2017 12:54 AM PDT

I had this game earlier (https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3291676347) where I got pretty good farm and we had a kill advantage. The game lasted for a long time (maybe I shouldn't have farmed TOO much).

While I had the gold and xp advantage during late game, we still lost because I didn't know any effective crowd-control combos during late game and so I was confused.

What late-game combos can I do with and without Refresher's Orb?

Dota 2 always running slowly

Posted: 04 Jul 2017 07:13 AM PDT

I have a problem. Dota 2 is always slow, low FPS, jittery, almost like a built in lag.

I'm running a Lenovo laptop, Windows 10, AMD A8 with R5 GPU, 8GB RAM. Probably doesn't matter but I also have a fairly solid 23MB/s net speed

I've been testing it in bot matches and it doesn't matter if I have graphic quality set to full or to minimum the slowdown is exactly the same.

Has anyone seen this before? Don't have problems with other games, just Dota 2.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled a few times.

Cheers

What's the best way to do Offlane Void?

Posted: 03 Jul 2017 08:32 PM PDT

I tried doing offlane void in PUB's using the standard aquila, treads, diff blade, and manta but typical sub 2k MMR SEA pubs, they dont seem to like to team fight or even do 1-2 man chrono pick offs and I end up getting flamed as noob void carry.

Am I doing anything wrong? I usually get the lucky kills in my lane when bash procs but mid game I fall off due to everyone not wanting to gank or push.

~HELP :(
