Hearthstone - Today is Internet-Wide Day of action for net neutrality

Today is Internet-Wide Day of action for net neutrality

Posted: 12 Jul 2017 02:26 AM PDT

Net neutrality is in danger - ISPs like Comcast and Verizon might soon be able to charge extra fees for content we want. Why does it matter to you? Well, both Hearthstone and Reddit need internet to be played, right?

There's only a few days left to stop them. Get involved.

This week's Tavern Brawl is "Clash of the Minions" (July 12, 2017)

Posted: 12 Jul 2017 09:00 AM PDT

Description: No time for cowards, soldier! Playing minions gives them Charge and Taunt! Ok, here's the Mulligan... go, go, GO!

In this brawl you can build your deck.

EDIT: some more info about the brawl:

Only minions played from the hand gain the "Give Taunt and Charge" enchantment. Minions summoned by effects such as Grim Patron or Nerubian Egg, or spells like Animal Companion, will not gain the abilities.

The enchantment can be removed through the usual means, including Silences.

Gaining control of a Charge minion will see it immediately able to attack.

Does double gold quests end on Sunday or next Wednesday?

Posted: 12 Jul 2017 06:22 AM PDT

We were told 2 weeks, and it started last Wednesday, but it wouldn't shock me if they meant last week and this week.

For anyone who had doubts about Arthas being The Lich King of Hearthstone.

Posted: 12 Jul 2017 02:26 AM PDT

A couple of days ago, I saw people theorising that maybe Arthas is not The Lich King and things like that. (posts like this ones)

Using some basic HTML magic, I found that in the expansion promotional page, the Lich King's code name is "Arthas".

Picture

If he was not, they could've name him "lichking" or something. So yeah. He's the guy.

Can't go face if your opponent doesn't have one. SMOrc FeelsBadMan

My opponent's hero portrait was missing in my last game for some reason and I just could not target the face for any of my attacks.

I had to reconnect twice to resolve this. (iOS)

Blizzard please fix!

I created a website to make Hearthstone cheaper and more fun, now it's updated.

Posted: 12 Jul 2017 09:05 AM PDT

Hello everyone, I am Crookguy.

A while ago i launched HSroulette.com, and with the help of the community, we got something really awesome started!

If you are not familiar with HSroulette, it's a website that gives players random challenges and objectives to complete in Hearthstone.

Examples of challenges are:

Quit hitting yourself! - Deal a killing blow to your opponent with their own minion.

I hunt alone! - As a Hunter win a game with no minions in your deck.

Moment of Glory - Deal a killing blow to your opponent using a Silverback Patriarch.

The goal is to make the game more fun, for less money :)

Original launch thread:

https://www.reddit.com/r/hearthstone/comments/69z304/i_created_a_website_to_make_hearthstone_more_fun/

Website:

http://hsroulette.com

Now I have made the first big update to the website, which includes simplified UI, 30 new challenges and most important of all, Wild mode!

With Wild mode opened, we are now accepting challenges and ideas that require wild cards :)

If you have any fun or difficult challenge ideas you are very welcome to comment here! Hope to hear your awesome ideas!

Trivia about the Latest Nerf

Posted: 11 Jul 2017 02:21 PM PDT

Hey guys, Moby here. You might remember me from my post about various stats, facts and trivia about the nerf history of Hearthstone. Now with a new balance patch behind us it is time to update it and write about the end of The Caverns Below (Rejoice!), the 32nd nerfed card in Hearthstone.

  • The new patch was the ninth balance patch since release and it has been 132 days since the last one with Spirit Claws and Buccaneer
  • 132 days is the shortest time between nerfs since late January 2015 when Undertaker got nerfed 56 days after the patch before. Overall it is the fifth shortest period between balance patches since release
  • The Caverns Below was nerfed 95 days after its release making it the third fastest nerf only behind Small-Time Buccaneer (89) and Unleash the Hounds (58)
  • The Caverns Below is the third Rogue card to be nerfed which makes Rogue catch up with Shaman, Warrior and Druid as classes with second most nerfed cards. Hunter is still king with 7 nerfs.
  • The Caverns Below is the 12th spell that got nerfed
  • The Caverns Below is the 10th nerfed 1-cost card
  • The Caverns Below is the 3rd Legendary card that got nerfed behind Leeroy Jenkins and Yogg-Saron (fun fact: while creating my spreadsheet I "accidentally" gave Call of the Wild the Legendary status)
  • The user /u/RangerRipcord is now proud owner of 12800 extra dust after disenchanting 6 normal and one golden copy. On the other side Kripp pushed the button 38 days too soon and possibly missed out on some extra dust. Moral of the story: always hoard cards, kids

I hope you enjoyed this small overview (especially like-minded statistic fans). Now have fun grinding your slow control decks on ladder, and don't let the Jade army haunt you!

See you with the next nerf.JadeIdol? orHunterQuest?

Pre-Expansion Lore Theorycrafting - Death Knight Rexxar is SMOrc

Posted: 11 Jul 2017 07:37 PM PDT

Greetings, traveler.

I have uncovered a piece of lore that has been glossed over by many regarding the new expansion, Knights of the Frozen Throne. This detail may change your outlook on the hunter class, Team 5, and life as a whole. This discovery being that Death Knight Rexxar is SMOrc. I know, "Where's the evidence?". Well my friends, the proof is in the pudding. The pudding in this scenario being the last shot of the cinematic trailer and the proof being this! Yes, indeed, this is Rexxar as a Death Knight. As you can see the green skin as well as the open mouth are reminiscent of everyone's favorite emote to spam when doing face. Here are various different variation of SMOrc over the original frame:

100% Opacity

50% Opacity

Gif Transmogrification.

Yes comrades this is a surprising discovery indeed, especially because Deathstalker Rexxar seems to be a control card.

My theory would be that Team 5 is trying to prepare us for Face Hunter to be back in the meta. I mean, we are REALLY bad a predicting cards. Maybe Deathstalker Rexxar is surprise OP in an aggro deck. Maybe Team 5 has a cornucopia of oppressive undead minions that Rexxar will be able to take advantage of. What if Arthas was a Undertaker Hunter player or a GvG era Face Hunter. We'll just have to wait and see what's in store for us when Knights of the Frozen Throne drops in August. I know for Face Hunter player this much reading is a lot, so thanks for bearing with me.

Can we stop bashing people that try to bring some positivity to this sub?

Posted: 11 Jul 2017 03:46 PM PDT

There is a post on the front page appreciating team 5 for their work improving the game recently and many of the top comments either try to downplay this as just new-expansion hype or Blizzard finally realizing they have to be more proactive with the game.

Now, I have to agree that these points are valid and it might not matter too much what people on reddit say vs what their numbers say. Still, why is it that when things are bad there is a flood of negativity but when they do things right we just shrug it off as "well, they'd better!"?

Keep in mind that the developers love the game and want to create many awesome things. Also, you cannot deny that ever since Ben Brode took on a more central role as the director things like community involvement and fun little surprises like the double gold event have increased.

So I guess what I'm saying is that while Blizzard is a huge company and like all such entities is mostly concerned about their bottom line, the hearthstone devs care about their game and I'm sure take every opportunity to help their bosses understand what is in the best interest of the game.

Feel free to criticize problems and suggest improvements when they screw up, but counteract that by showing you are happy with the positive changes and hope they keep moving in that direction. I know the various other posts that showcase fun and interesting things rather than complaints already exhibit that the game is in a good state, but there is no reason to bash those that decide to write a thank you letter.
